Hopefully I can submit, multi is @ 50, but for some reason bus speed drops below 100 even though its set at 100 in bios 0_o

I plan on getting a 990X and thought I'd post the best I've been able to OC this 980X. Was working on 4.84GHz - just couldn't get it stable. Soon as I find a new home for this chip I'll upgrade. Anyway, here's my results:

I just had to go for 4.5 and got it. I just need to get the temps down some.

well my new i7-970 seems to be a great one for sure:D
i was having trouble getting it stable, random failures at all vcore
ranges,then i remembered to use the x17 uncore(my E760 hates x16)
when running x8 memory.and if i keep it below 60c i can get through
20 runs w/1.36v,but once it goes above 60c it needs 1.37v it seems.

It is not because Linpack is poorly optimized for Sandy Bridge chips. Linpack is a standard SIMD program, which is born to be against HT. Forcing 8 threads on a 4C8T CPU would only get worse Linpack performance due to overheads caused by context switch etc.
Thanks.
I just re-installed that chip and tested a little higher at the same Vcore. (HT off in Bios). Think I need to remount or I used too much AS5. Had to be real close to throttling

Got 4.5GHz with 1 stick of ram, and will post back when I whack another one or two in :

I don't mean to crap on your parade, but if you read the first post Zalbard states that you must a show a screen shot of linx running after 20 successful passes, i.e. set it to run 25 and take screen shot after pass 21.
Other than that everything looks good:up:
That's a good one  . That's a good vCore for 24/7 on a 6-core.
With the resent 34% price-drop, these 970 are good and "affordable" alternatives to SB now.
I'm not sure about the production date on this chip, but those produced after Intel's move to 990x can have a really good OC-headroom.
So new 2500k Batch L047B217 5.4Ghz

Also, nice job with overclocking and formatting your post!
Yes, it does! Very nice! :D
You have a really good chip, actually. Great clocks!
Speechless... You should try your luck with AVX!
Thanks, and a nice rig you got there! :)
@ 3dsag3, dragonhunter, In-Fluence:
LinX has to be still running / calculating when you're taking your screenshot!

5400 is not Working in the Moment but I work on it
you deleted my 5400 Run?
Replaced it with your AVX run. Not much point, really, since, for example, 5000 w/AVX >>> 5200 without...
AVX is where the real 5GHz club starts, under 100 GFlops is just for starters. :p:
I hope more people will re-submit w/AVX so I can shrink the "Under 100 GFlops" category and leave it for non-SB chips only.
