Hey all,
First post so please be gentle. I am OCing an Opteron 170 CCBWE 0550 (2.6 GHz @1.35 volts) in a CoolerMaster Centurion 532 with a Scythe Flex 120mm fan on intake and exhaust. My CPU cooler is a TTBT with a Panaflo Ultra High fan. I have two XFX 7900GT video cards in SLI mode. My PSU is a 700W FSU Epsilon. My BIOS version is 1103.
1.) My idle temps are 42C for CPU and 38C for motherboard. I notice that under load (dual prime95 small FFT torture test) the temps do not rise as fast as on a DFI-Expert, but 42C idle seems kind of high. Is anybody else getting similar temps using air cooling?
2.) In order to run at 2.6GHz@1.35volts, I have to run my memory (2-1GB G-Skill PC3200 value) at 100Mhz. I can get to 2.8GHz@1.4 volts but idle temp is around 46C. Is the ASUS Probe Utility accurate? I have opened the case and held another 120 mm fan over various areas of the MB but it doesn't affect MB or CPU temps so I don't think air flow is an issue. I would guess the room ambient temp is around 22C.
Has anyone had problems seeing the temps of there 74gb Raptors used in a Raid?
I have 2 74gb Raptors on the Nforce SATA 0 and 1 set up as Raid 0. They are working fine but, I can't see them using the SMART monitor in SpeedFan or anything else. I put a 200mb segate drive I had in my old system in it last night on SATA 2 and it showed up in SpeedFan.
I do have the SMART feature enabled in the Bois for each of the Raptors.
These drive do seem to run warm, so I would like to be able to monitor them.
One other question. What is a good Defrager/Optimizer for HDDs in XP?

u can not see the temp of the HDDs in RAID mode
well that's kinda dumb!
Never mind I got it. Looking good so far.
I don't have control over the multiplier from what I know.

here's a pic of the Danger den nv-78 rev 1.1 water blocks and my Xfi in the middle.

How's the sli??? I'm waiting for more paychecks, but would love to know how's she do'in ;)

You didn't rma your board and then I got it??? LOL
I have the lian li v800 and it is WAY TO COMPACT. My cables are routed well so I imagine I am having the similar temps as you with just too small of a case?
ANYONE KNOW WHATS UP?
I just got a RMA 1.01G and hate to RMA again and gett the 1.01.
However these temps are ridiculous and I wonder if the PC probes jacked or its the passive not getting a good connection???? dunno?
well worth the money. At the moment no single card can beat my dual 7800 gtxs making COD2 at 1600x1200 lots of fun.Quote:

anybody got a tweaked data file file for motherboard monitor 5 so that it works with this board?
I thought about getting an external audio solution but after trying my regular internal card (HDA X-Mystique) in the second PCI slot I did not see the need. In a CM Stacker case Everest says the temp on the top card is 4°C warmer than the lower card but how much of that is sound card restricted air flow and how much is just heat rising from the sound card and lower video card I can't say. In any case I have yet to see the upper card top 70°C and I am in a warm room (~25°C most of the day). I was a little worried because PCI slot 2 seems to share its IRQ with the first PCI-Express slot, but I have had no issues with sound and video card 1 on IRQ 16, video card 2 on 17 with the firewire controller.Quote:

Those r danger den vga blocks right? Man that's one arm and one leg right there and then with the cards you got the torso as well, DAMMMN!
Anyone thinking of pulling the pipes? I bet they aren't well fitted like most blocks we find on boards....
But what a pain in the arse to try to get good seating with that long of a rig???
Any ideas, or does 50C not so bad for this board?

I just picked up the DangerDen Maze4 into kit. Looking through the parts it did not come with a backing plate. I know the A8N32 backing plate is good and is stuck on the board fairly well but has anyone used it with the Maze4 block. DangerDen instructions say the block should use a backing plate but doesn't say if it's included or not. I could be nuts, it's my first water kit. Already hitting 2.6 @ 1.475 on air though. Can't wait to install. What do you think?
You get 4 ports off the nVidia chipset. Then there is one more port based on a Silicon Image controller than can be used with either a single SATA drive or an external port expander that run another 4 SATA drives. And don't forget about 4 IDE drives in RAID possible as wellQuote:

As I said above my rig is in a warm room, almost 27°C at the moment, but my mobo temp does not go above 40°C under load and that's with the chipset overvolt applied. But I am on air in a modded CM Stacker case, sounds like most of you guys with the high mobo temps are on water so it probably comes down to air movement around the socket and chipset.Quote:

For me may be.Quote:
