The Official Dual Core Opteron Overclocking Thread

Hey guys.. I have a question..
Would updating my bios help with OC results?
I have DFI Expert and haven't updated yet.

I would test it out for myself but my OCZ 520 couldn't handle my rig and pooped out. Waiting for my PC Power 1kw to come in. :)

Well I sure as hell think AMD boxed cooer is air...

I shaved retention bracket down for more pressure so I could stop overheating at 1.65v 2.9ghz but now I can't get good contact. damn IHS I hate using them.

There's just not sufficient space to do so given the layout if you're on phase change due to the size of the hold down bracket for the evap :(

Other bad news... Just got done with my second attempt and it came out nearly worse than attempt 1. This just can't be done with common hand tools. It requires the use of some precision high speed rotary work not to crack the plexi when working so close to the edges. I give up for now, I might try talking with some local shops to see if they can produce a solid one for me as I'm pissed off at this point and willing to pay someone to do it for me, bleh.

What kind of drill bits are u using? There are special plexi/lexan bits u can buy, and they work awesome.

what are you running???

I ran 2.8ghz dual core, 7800gt sli, 2 hdds, 1 optical, a few fans, and 2 ccfls on mine, it smelt likle BBQ before I went dual PSU.

I've actually found a place that does custom laser cutting extremely cheap :D I'm CAD'ing up the design right now and going to send it to them for a test run. Once I get that piece if all fits well then booyah, gonna just have em run a whole bunch :)

I am using water chiller and abogee block. Water temps +6 - + 12 C
not yet tested any colder water. Cpu is max +26 C
I am using 2800/ 1.48v 24/7
Just testing max stable speed and beching . More volts and speed :)

Just got my opty today. W00t. ccbwe 0550UPMW. Will give it a good beating, uh burning in tonight, and will update when the numbers get bigger.

Also, whats a good temp monitoring tool for my infinity board? Smartguardian didnt seem to detect any of the temps right. (jumped from 16 to 22...)

Check out Speedfan, it's a pretty nifty little monitoring program :)

Tcase has a bug in it actually so that all DC opties show up as 49C. X2's also i think...

just ordered a 1 x Opteron Dual Core 165 1.8 Ghz 1Mb Cache 939 CCBWE 0546 FPMW from Tankguys. Supposedly the cab2e single core version of this processor is the bomb. I'm just not happy with my 170. It won't do more than 2.6 no matter what. What version is zipzoomfly shipping right now? will it do at least 2.7? That is my goal.

Guys, any idea on how a 165 CCBWE 0546 FPMW are doing

I'm gettng two 165's tomorrow. I will throw them in and post how they do. I can do air, wc or vapo pe. Which would you like?
