LeegHoofD: does your AiSUite run on your P5K dlxe please ?
Just use coretemp, none of these would provide accurate, but most of us assume coretemp is pretty close..., according to intelspecs, these cpu may run up to 71c. I would say when your below 60c( load), would be ideal so u got some headroom. And I hope not 49c u got that during Idle.... thats way to hot, u may then reseat your heatsink or backoff the clocks abit, as Mine is that almost during load. ( 52c @ coretemp), I am idleing between 26-30c, depends on room temp and fanspeed.
hey,
is there anywhere all bios settings (cpu ppl voltage, cpu voltage reference etc.) described somewhere? this thread is 63 pages long :(
Hi Guys !
I need some help and have a few questions...
I'm benchmarking and need some more vcore, at > 1,625 with the damper enabled i get a "CPU OVERVOLTAJE ERROR" and no matter the vcore i put on bios seems to be always at 1,625...
Another question is that (i read all about D9's die) if only for benching i can raise the Vdimm til 2,4 or 2,5 to achieve 1350Mhz, i already did but then i get scared :)
Thanks !
Best regards for all
Sergio
1.625 is way too much for your cooling.
to Leeghoofd: Did you manage to install and run AiSuite please ?
Yes installed the latest version from Asus website (v10202) installed fine and runs fine (I don't get any errors , though I never OC via software like this)
Do you want me to run something ?

Thanks Leeghoofd, I just wonder why mine won't run at all, I even installed a newer version that ASUS sent me, still no joy.
When I click on it I get the hour glass for about 3 seconds then nothing.
If I try to re-start windows I have to end AISuite before it will shut down, so I presume it is hanging somehow.
I just don't know what else to try, I hate it when something doesn't work as it should :) I am running BIOS version 0404 don't know if that is why it won't work.
I had the same problem when I moved from Intel XBX to Asus P5K3 mobo; uninstalling all the Intel drivers and stuff wasn't enough. I had to do a clean install of XP to get AISuite to work (or rather, become visible. It was in the process list but not showing).
Could you please look in the registry under software AISuite for what it says there, I don't wnat to re-install Windows as I used PCMover to migrate all my programs and settings from my old PC to the new one and it would be a nightmare if I have to re-install Windows.
Prolly your install of winblows is borked, I had that too once, a fresh copy did the trick... I can try on the Maximus wich is on winXP but I think the problem isn't a typical P5K Dlx issue... maybe you can try a bios update but I don't think it will solve much...
Keep me posted mate... for the rest your rig runs troublefree ?
There is obviosly some software or driver conflict with AISuite and quite frankly there are better monitoring utilities out there including Everest. I wouldn't waste your time with it and it's certainly not worth a reinstall. If you really want to use it though, I would do a start/run/msconfig, turn off everything in startup and all non Microsoft things in "services" tab, and then reboot and try ai again, if it works, then turn things back on in msconfig in small groups until it fails again and then you isolate the conflict. To me it's not even worth that much trouble.
I ran OCCT for 30 minutes and got a stable report.
But today I put on my Arctic Freezer7 Pro cooler and had a BSOD whilst I was away from the PC, strange but when I first put it on the temps had dropped for the 4 cores using Everest 4.20 by 10°C each, but now they are nearly the same as with the stock HSF.
A bit puzzled by that, I have had good results with the Arctic before now, in fact I have them on my 3 systems and they are all overclocked.
I had a bit of difficulty getting the arctic fastening pins seated at first but I have checked and it is secure, just wondering whether I disturbed the MX2 stuff a bit when I took it off a couple of times during the fitting.
At the moment I have the following temps:
Motherboard 37 °C
CPU 37°C
CPU 1/Core1 47°
CPU1/ Core2 47°C
CPU1/ Core3 39°C
CPU1/ Core4 38°C
GPU 40°C
GPU Diode 48°C
GPU ambient 37°C
Maxtor HDD 28°C ( HDD cooler fitted).
Quite happy with the CPU Queen Everest Benchmark at 24,628 which is faster than the Maxiumus with the Extreme Q9650 :)
Recently I just purchased another set of these G.Skill F2-6400PHU1-2GBHZ's to go with the set I already had so I could run 4GB. Only reason I didn't get 2x2GB was because I already had these nice 2x1GB set. I figured I would try the settings that have been rock stable for me for over 4 months. My original setup was 9x390 DDR@ 1170 2.2V. After I put in the extra 2GB the system would not evne boot correctly anymore. I attempted to experiment with different settings but still even at DDR 975 4-4-4-12 which was stable before I put in the extra RAM didn't work.
Anytime I would run Prime 25.5(blend) It would fail after about 1 HR at the most, sometimes within a minute.
The one thing i'm not sure what to set is the sub timings which have stayed on AUTO and worked without problems.

If there are certain known sub timings that work with the HZ's please by all means provide some input on these or any other settings that might help.
Current BIOS is 603
Before this current setup the only difference was the memory was at DDR 1170 2.2V and 5-5-5-15 and this ran months without issues rock stable but with the extra 2GB of memory it would not even boot at these settings.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
Has anyone put penryn in this board yet?
If any of you are gamers, have you had a weird whining sound when in game that disappears when you go to desktop ?
Do you hear this sound with or without headphones on , this sound is coming through my headphones.
The sound I hear is coming from the board itself.
Are you using onboard sound? I get whining and different noises using onboard sound, which is why I use a soundcard for my gaming computer.
Yes I am using the onboard sound.
I get a whine off my boards, Pw5DH, P5E when stress testing with various 3DMark programs. Always have.
It is not loud only present.
Also with Everest, you got 24,xxx on CPU Queen, I only get 11xxx my OC is close to yours, but the program is not designed for X38. You sure your were not reading the test below- Photo something?
