I used the itk to change the multiplier on my E6700 ES a while back, it didn't work of course so I didn't bother to report.

The ITK tool is quite powerful and I've used it to customize my system a fair bit. Anyway, I use it primarily to disable things like C1E and the Watchdog before I flash the newer bioses. That way I don't have to fiddle with jumpers to enter config mode.

It is especially handy for those who have to boot with one RAM stick at a time after every bios flash. You can simply change the Vdimm from 1.84 to 2.0 volts before flashing.

If anyone chooses to do this, I'd recommend using the following guide to create the diskette.

I Finally Got some time to test RAID on Intel Badaxe 2 and here are some results:

I just got my Vista retail and it cured my X-fi Elite Pro troubles! :toast: Thanks Elfear the board didn't like Windows X64 as you suspected. Strange really as the X64 has been rock solid for me until now. Well who cares? I've got Vista now. :banana:¨


A little sad maybe that I've only gotten 2.7Ghz out of the chip, though I don't know this board inside out yet. I should mention that I got the chip for a nice price. :)

Wow BIOS 2507 is a$$ on my rig. When I started overclocking it would force my memory to an 800 freq 5-5-5-15 no matter what I set. It said it was increasing the voltage I set and I doubt it because I could not boot. I went back to the older BIOS because I couldn't get it to save my desired memory freq and timings no matter what I did. It would only save changes to the memory when I left my processor overclocking section to auto or default.

Whew that was like a bad dentist appointment.


Back to 3.7 GHz np with 2431.

Idcc says 49c and TAT says 52, bios says 48c so i guess its in the region of 49 to 50.:eek:

Seems very high. The board is on a Lian-Li VX2000 case which means the board is upside down (BTX thing) and im using 2 radeon in crossfire so the 1st card is right next to the chipset heatsink and the cpu block is the other side of the chipset heatsink. Im just wondering if the heat is getting trapped from the chipset and increasing the temps around the CPU.

I think i might need to refit the WC block on the C2D as well.:rolleyes:

Somthings not right so process of elimination time.:slapass:

Can some of you guys do me a favor an post some test with the BX2, i just got my QUAD GT (previous owner of a BX2) and this new board feels pretty fast , so here are the test
i only did superPi 1M and aquamark (free version)
running @ 401x9 on E6600 1066 strap mem at 1:1 401mhz 4-4-4-12, no cheating please :)
just want to compare thats it

does anyone have any idea why i cant run aquamark using 2x1950xtx ati vid cards. I get an error after 20 seconds.tried on many motherbaords and same thing.

Anyways heres mine untill i get aquamark sorted out.

Anybody here using a LSI Sas Scsi with this board? I can't get it to boot. If I use a Raptor it boots fine and reads the SCSI drives so the controller is working. I am sure it is in the Bios somewhere. I have done a clean install.
I am going blind looking..

You connect the raptor to the ICH7 then connect other drives through SAS card and XP won't boot from raptor?

If yes, try to set the sata mode to raid in bios.

I had exactly the same experience. I could barely get any overclocking done on 2507. I went back to 2333 and sitting solidly at 3.7. I've tried everything between there and 2507 with no joy. Looks like I'll be here for a while.

Yeah I was very frustrated. I haven't been that PO'ed in a while. It has to be a bug of some sort. It simply won't save custom memory settings with 2507 and seems to force SPD even with "manual" selected. I tried everything you can imagine to get it to save properly and it kept resetting to 800 5-5-5-15 1.84v.

Sometimes the BIOS after 2333 will reset ram to "auto" when I first change an OC and a second attempt works to save correctly. It will tell me to check the BIOS and I enter to find 800 5-5-5-15 forced. I then change it as I wish, save, and it holds properly.

The only way I could manipulate memory and have it save with 2507 was to leave the processor section overclocking to "no" or off.

I had the same issues until I disabled watchdog, that was the only way to get RAM settings to stick on the new BIOS

Same here. All custom mem settings saved correctly after I disabled watchdog along with eist & c1e.

The only odd thing I found with 2507 is the boot order. When I moved my system drive to the top of the boot devices I got "hall.dll not found" error. Reinstalling XP was the last thing I wanted. When I moved DVD drive to the top in desperation -- it worked and xp booted right up (no disk in the drive)!

Gradually rising from 266 to 335 FSB on 1066 strap was a smooth ride and I'm glad to be at 3GHz dual-prime overnight stable so quickly and easily. Thanks a lot for the excellent info in this thread and special thanks for the calculator!

Need some help guys. I just put a 220w pelt between water block and cpu. It booted up i went to hardware monitor in bios and it showed my temps dropped about 20 degrees. I was happy. saved & exit.. during boot up a red led turned on its located near the rear fan power connector. And it dident boot. any idea what that light is? In the manual they call it a cpu light. Took the pelt back off and all was fine again. Any help would be great. thanx

Just got my shipment late last night and am planning my new Bad Axe 2 build. For anyone out there with Vista can you tell me if the Intel mobo utilities meant for use under WinXP Pro (like RAID: Intel® Matrix Storage Manager, and Intel Desktop Utilities) work with Vista?

I see on the Intel website that they have the Intel Viiv Software Setup specifically for Vista, but none of the other utilities! I'm concerned I may have to install WinXP Pro if none of the other utilities work under Vista. I have Vista Ultimate OEM version if that makes any difference.

Hmm I could have sworn I tried that, and I suppose I can give it one more try.

EDIT:NP7 has it right. I think I overlooked EIST. I know I turned off Watchdog and C1E. Anywho it's saving the RAM settings now. I killed VT too just for the heck of it after I flashed. So with the following off 2507 is fine for me now; Watchdog, C1E, EIST and VT.

I disabled VT and EIST, saved, then killed C1E plus Watchdog. Thanks for encouraging me to go at it one more time guys.

BTW when I moved from a 356 FSB to a 412 I had to use the reset button to get out of a blackscreen. The same thing happens when I drop from 412 to 356 or lower. I have to reset and it will take. If that doesn't work for you try turning off the PSU for 10 secs and then starting her up. A lot of times folks think an OC failed when it didn't, it's just a stupid bug.

Under Vista upgrade, Intel Desktop Utilities told me that I could only install on an Intel board, and wouldn't install. (I'm using an XBX2)

Intel Audio Studio works.
Marvell RAID Console works
Intel matrix Storage manager doesn't work because Vista has a newer raid driver.
Intel Desktop Utilities works but only shows hard drives
Intel Desktop Control Center doesn't install

Honestly, none of those are reasons to go back to XP, at least for me.

Thanks for the great info! So, is it safe to assume that Intel will release the entire suite of updated utilities for Vista at some point? I was looking forward to playing around with them some.

I'm also assuming (not having had any prior experience with the BA2) that I can simply set my RAID up in the BIOS (on Intel controller) and the utilities are not crucial to the management of the RAID array?

Yeah, I don't think the updates are far off and yes, everything RAID can be done from the BIOS. The utilities are just for convenience, like you're really going to be rearranging your raid setup every day. :)

I'm having some weird issues guys that I hope you can help me with. I can get my QX6700 Orthos stable at 3.4GHz@1.341V (1.4V set in bios). I can get it Orthos stable at 3.5GHz@1.376V (1.425V set in bios) but my computer reboots after 30 minutes or so. So I upped the vcore thinking maybe it just wasn't getting enough juice but now it just reboots faster. It's really weird as I can hit 3.6GHz pretty easy with 1.42V (1.475V set in bios) and it is Orthos stable for awhile but eventually reboots. If I try to up the vcore than it just reboots again only quicker than before.

I've tested the memory timings using memtest and they run forever. I've tried different multis to get the same speed thinking maybe the fsb was limiting it but I get the same results. I'm running a good quality 600W PSU that didn't even break a sweat with my overclocked Crossfire setup (pulled 580W from the wallplate at max load) so I don't think that is the issue.

I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do. The chip seems to run great but I just get weird results when trying to raise vcore. I can game all day at 3.6GHz@1.42V (of course I'm only utilizing maybe 1.5 cores). Any ideas?
