I like that shot Tarowah. The one thing I cant figure out is why most of your images are noisy even at base ISO. I never used the Nikon Capture NX, but from what I see Adobe Camera Raw is superior at importing RAWs.
I dont see in the .raw files. I think it gets added when I resize the images with Photoscape.
There is no noise with reduction in photoscape. The noise is coming from somewhere else.Quote:

Also photoscape by default uses 72dpi for saving images. So you have to increase that using "save as".

I think zomg is mistaking natural compression loss or something else for noise.
Raw doesnt help with noise. Even though photoshop CS 5 does have better noise handling for raw files.
CaptureNX is far, far, far superior at processing RAW. CaptureNX is able to process Nikon RAW images in a native format where ACR tries it's best to translate unreadable data into something it can read. If you're a stickler for getting the most out of your gear then always import RAW files into a native processing engine and export TIFFs to Photoshop if that's what you prefer.Quote:

The original image was garbage, I wanted to see how it was handled.
The CS5 image has lens correction applied, and the NX image does not, yet has minimal distortion and less was cropped.

MS PAINT! Definitely is cleaner regardless. Its probably a combination of over sharpening and something the program is doing.
Original was better.
Second version has less contrast, less sharpness (well thats related ofc), and less saturation (which is related to contrast aswell). Noise level is same, just cause theres less contrast, it doesnt seem visible. Personally, I dont care that much about noise as long is its non-intrusive and non-destructive. Which in this case is.
Do it as you did before, just ease up on sharpening by tiny bit..
Btw. D5000 is a bit noisy, its SNR values are not "100% clean" even at lowest ISO. It can be dealt with by applying some weak noise reduction, but I think its better to have more details and bit noise, than less details and no noise. Though, could be worth trying overexposing photos a bit (abour 1/3 eV - 1/2 eV) and then reducing exposure down in post-processing.

I do appreciate the feedback from everyone, anything that will help me get better is welcome, if you see something I could do better or just simply do wrong please feel free to let me know, I am 100% self taught and I pretty much twiddle with the shots before I put them up so I will take any help I can get.

Yep, m4/3s do not like high ISO. :D Still good photo and nice processing (that reflection is photoshoped I guess?).
Yeah, a lot of photoshop on that one. The m4/3 image quality is excellent but ISO is a troublemaker (especially with no fast lenses).

Just one.
Then i used alien skin exposure 3 plug in the do the effect.
If you are referring to the number of lights you see reflected in the lens that is just the way the lens element reflects, or refracts the light.
Interesting, looks like 7 or 8 lights in the lens reflection.

ZOMGVTEK - looks great, whites are white for sure, blue jeans look proper.
reds might be a little heavy but not much.
it looks like the skin is a little pink, but not bad because fair skinned people will have a bit of pink to their skin

here is one using more of my quirky custom picture styles.
i wasnt sure if i liked it until i looked at it more.
This picture style was meant to be shot either in lower light or vastly underexposed, meaning, -2ev or more in broad daylight.
what has made me enjoy this picture more is the fact that its shot as jpeg like this right out of the camera (as i have stated many times you can do with custom picture styles)
i like what it did to the grass. it shifted the green to give it a pseudo turquois look. plus, it grayed out other parts of the grass.
its a strange look, almost like Camoflaugebut i like it. i want to do some trees and see what happens.
next is boosted the saturation of the leaf, and shifted the color slightly to give it a more orange hue (i think) the leaf in real life was more faded.
