back in stock! :)
wow ten bucks? where can we find the cpus for this board? sorry, noob here..
Pity that shipping cost to Europe is so high :/ and what about CPUs availability? There is literally nothing on ebay.
I think I grabbed the last chips off of ebay for now..
10 for artem and 4 extras for me..:hrhr:
are these the right ones just lower clocks?: http://cgi.ebay.com/SL98Q-XEON-LV-1-...item53e0114416
In the other thread I believe Bail said these would workIntel Xeon Dual Core 2GHz/667 MHz 2MB SL8WT FCPGA SCKT. My only issue is I would need 3-4 of these to equal what my 920 is producing:(
Yup, and thats the deal to buy, got a bunch from him, shipped fast and properly packed. That is a scheap as you'll find them.
Agreed on your last statement, really a mistake to build a bunch, but one is nice or they also make for a very decent desktop for daily work but you do need a EATX case for them..
As I mentioned earlier, I have one in a Lian Li PC62B and it's a very nice little rig.
does the bsel mod mentioned way earlier in this thread work?
Not that I'm aware of. I never tried because someone else said it didn't.
gotcha, sorry to ask all these ?'s but i gotta learn it all :) what all is needed, mobo, cpus, ram, power supply, case?, back plate (what is that for?), hard drive, etc, what am i overlooking?
ah that makes sense, so for a crunching-only rig what should i expect to spend on one sos rig?
sa-weet! i think i have my mom talked into buying one and letting me set it up at her house :)
Hmm... $180 per node is just so cheap for 4 cores, I really can't resist. I still don't see how an i7 is more cost effective for large crunch, I think I'm going to go through with my plans to put 16 sammy rigs together at some point.
lol. are they rare or what?
ok found the $10 heatsinks dave was referring to. do they get hot enough that they need fans on them?
