Who knows, but my take is gross incompetence combined with a rush trying to be among the first to make a splash in the reseller mkt with C2D.

If it was bait and switch what did they accomplish? They could have sold out their OEM E6600's in a couple hours at $329 (incl shipping)

Ok, PC Club's website says "Slight Delay", this is what that means.

Could just be a simple mistake. I guess my confusion is that lots of people called them to verify they were in stock. Many people were told "Yes, we have them - they are here, I can see them" or something like that. Doesn't it seem like somewhere, somehow, somebody would notice?

As for what they gain, maybe not much. On the other hand, there may be customers who just say, "oh okay, well I'll just wait" who may have never ordered in the first place, if they had not been told that they were already in stock.

I don't know, it just seems really strange. I can understand it happening with some random and unpopular item, but for such a big mistake to be made on parts that are the most talked about item around, for which they had to have been getting countless calls/e-mails just seems like a pretty big mistake.

I just got a call from ClubIT about my E6600 order and they said they weren't able to get the retail version in but that they had the OEM and said they would ship it right out to me and knock $10 off the cost and upgrade my shipping to FedEx 3-day and throw in some t-shirt or something lol. I told them to go ahead and ship it because you're not going to find even an OEM E6600 for $329 anytime soon.

Starting to lose patience waiting for my 6600 from Outpost....I have everything else I need for my new system except for the darn cpu.

The ratings for XPCGear look pretty good, but I can't say the price fills me with joy. Has anyone ordered from them in the past? Are they reliable?

I'm having a hard time justifying the additional cost for a week of waiting, but I'd really like to start putting together my new computer.

A newegg supervisor told me they will be getting in the e6600's either today or tomorrow.

Shipment suppose to come in this friday on the P5W-DH. I talked to 3 vendors up in norcal and all said the same thing.

I've got an email out to them making sure it's *actually* in stock.

Been running in to a whole lot of this dodgy :banana::banana::banana::banana: from retailers with "in stock" claims.

I just got a call from someone at MicroCenter who wanted to confirm my shipping address. He said my E6600 OEM will be shipping out tomorrow so I'll have it Thursday.

Good thing I ordered it yesterday as now microcenter.com has the availability listed as 'Usually ships in 5 - 7 days' as opposed to '1 - 3 days.'

Yea, same here. The "consumer" in me wanted to tell them to shove it. However the "greedy/enthusiast" in me accepted their offer in a heartbeat.

Is it just me or are we seeing a high influx of OEM chips. I think Intel is on to us (i.e. no more 3 year warranty). PEOPLE, MICROCENTER HAS E6600 OEM FOR $359.99, get your orders in.

I think there is a high number of OEM chips because that is what Intel has been stocking up on to ship to the major OEM's like Dell and HP although the only difference is a box and stock heatsink/fan assembly so i don't know why they can't ramp production of their little boxes and cheap heatsink/fans lol.

Okay....how annoying is this?

When I first placed my preorder with Outpost.com, the sales guy told me that I was number 3 on the E6600 preorder list and that they were getting 5 chips in their first batch.

So I just called Outpost to check on the status of the order again and the woman on the line told me that they have 3 orders processing but that she had absolutely no way to check to see if I was one of those orders. How does that make any sense at all?

She told me that that after their first 5 chips they're not expecting any more until the 18th.

I guess I have to hold off on ordering from anyone else til I see how this plays out.

I finally heard from ClubIT. They made me the same offer. Even though $329 for an OEM 6600 is about as good as one will get now, I refused, as I just don't want to do business with them. I must admit, that if I had a motherboard in my posession with an empty CPU socket, my decision may have been different, but for now I can wait. I'll pick up a PSU and case instead, and get my CPU later.

Nearing the shipping deadline for the day though, so if you want a retail from them, get it now.

Microcenter is backordered. I ordered at noon PST yesterday and have just recieved a backorder notice. I have seen others who ordered as early as 7am pst yesterday recieve a similar notice so I wouldn't hold out much hope for getting a chip from microcenter online.

E6600 Retail @ $499.99!!! :eek: from XPC

According to them they do have them, but they are waiting for them to arrive from their main warehouse to fulfill the rest of the orders. I talked to them a few times and they assured me they actually have them, but who knows... (This is Micro Center by the way)

im still looking for an e6600 and p5w, tiger told me they expect the chip in friday so that means next week for that, and I have no idea when the one place will get my mobo either, any places that sell p5w for a good price and is in stock?
