Right don't know if this has been brought up before but I'll say it again.

I've used a Swiftech heatsink to cool my 770 and as such had to trim the jumpers/power connector on the CT-479. Was going to change my jumpers from 533 to 400 to see if it improved my OC any tonite and realised ive soldered the legs together the wrong way completly!!!

Instead of say 2-3 and 5-6 I attached to 2-5 and 3-6 !!!!!!!!! Strange thing is it seems to have done nothing wrong?! Anyone else dumb enough to do this and live to tell the tail? WHat exactly are these jumper setting doing??

The CPU is pretty much the only thing left to replace though! I just don't understand how the CrashFree utility is able to run if the CPU is dead. Your CPU is most likely damaged.. either "mechanically" (chipped) or "electronically" (burnt).
Stoolman experienced similar behaviour during POST after some "hard sessions" OC'ing his 780..

Seen it done. Don't know how.

I use some Thermalright Xeon Cooler mounted with the Zalman kit.

Currently it's doing a great job on my northy 3.0, and I'd hate to replace it with that asus cooler thingy.

PM = No IHS, P4 IHS. It's very hard to crack a core on a core with an IHS on it. But since the PM doesn't, it's alot easier.

wwwww :: And I don't really like shims, I had one once that was too big and my HSF wasn't making propper contact with the core.

Another question - How's C0 stepping for Dothan 760? Haven't bougt it yet, but it's for sale on eBay.

Just use a P4 IHS, Super glue it on, with a nice layer of super glue it fits perfectly.

C0 are way bettr than B1.

Won't super glue be an awful heat conductor?

I don't think he means glueing it onto the core. Just around the edges of the chip itself.

Please read the first post by Stryg on the first page of this thread.. and find the answers/links there..
Eist is one tool to change MP. There is no option in Bios (yet) for either P4GD1 or P4GPL-X for this.

For sure! :D Adapter will be on those two screws way. :( Don't know how someone has installed it on that system. But for sure not with that way it's supposed to. :D

But is that really that worthy? I think Zalman 7700Cu is good enough, and very easy to install.
