That's it settled then.
These reservoirs cannot take the vibrations from the pump.
Time to put this project to sleep and move on.
What a bloody waste of time and effort.
I think it's time primochill recalled and refunded these things.

damnit...
Mine is still dry, but I've got it very-soft mounted (<<10Hz). What setting were you running the d5 at? I was right at the point of having enough confidence in it to take it out of my bench setup and put it back in a case. How did you have it mounted?
DB, how did the t3 in the green nvidia case pictured on the cover of cpu mag hold up?
Man, t3 is such a disaster. Great design, very wrong material :)
Is there some other moldable plastic which is less fragile than this?
Also, do other acrylic reservoirs use a different glue, which is not affected by ethylene glycol? Only PC mentions that EG is bad for their res.
I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing enough info to convince me that that is a rev A...and I learned a long time ago to not take anything at face value on the net. I know a few ppl that would love to see the T3 be written off as a huge failure and would stoop to some scummy tactics to achieve their goal. I'd like to know what coolant was used, How long the T3 was installed before the damage occurred...and most importantly, I'd like to see the package label the T3 came in.
Yep, mine is the same way. I started to really look at it when I pulled it out after my PrimoChill fitting broke on me. (Pretty certain that was partly my fault as it seemed I did tighten it a bit too much. :shakes:)
I can see cracks forming around the screws myself. The res still didn't leak at least. It probably would have sooner or later though. :(
Well, guess I will wait a bit longer and see what happens. I was thinking of RMA'ing it, but if they are still having issues I may just end up trashing it.
After seeing stock at my favorite e-tailer.... (and thinking issues are behind us -also it must be a rev-A) I ordered and installed 4 days ago...Still running my rig sitting in a huge casserole dish in the event of any leaks...but so far so good.
I have some other issues like I'm surprised at the weld joint - looks amateurish (uneven and lots of bubbles in it) but you can't see that when mounted in the case - so not sure how much of a issue this is.
Looks like a well thought out design...just the materials and/or manufacturing.
4 days isn't enough time to make a statement....but not a drop anywhere - love the design I have to say.
Where is the premium version made of the same delrin material that the split window version is made from?
such a shame, great design but horrible execution
I should mention that Primochill included optional (thicker) o-rings that I'm using with Bitspower 1/2 barbs - and no leaking at all.
I tried the ghost fittings but if you have to remove them...I found that the collar of the ghost fittings was binding with the tubing (Primoflex) and made it difficult - so switched to the bitspower barbs.
Also used the include o-ring (w/ reservoir) for the pump (thinner) than the thicker one that came with the pump.
Biggest issue off the top of my head (4 days in) is the non-standard mounting screws - with an incredibly small allan key (must be the smallest one) - smaller that a 5/64. If you lose these tiny screws...you cannot use any standard (computer type) replacement. So if it drops while trying to put it in...your going to spend 10 minutes looking for it.
These are just my unedited impressions - still love the design and function - mostly since my unit is not leaking :)
Edit: Running my pump (Swiftnets MCP655 (D5)) on # 3 setting
My bad - wrong acrylic bay res ;)... I had the magazine sitting in my living room. My son ripped the cover before I got a chance to really see it (w/o the rip). The skulltrail would be a terrible thing to lose.
Like I said. The tissue under mine (rev.A) is still dry, ~460hrs now. And as far as I can tell, no cracks. It's a very very soft mount, distilled + 1/10th dose of utopia (it's all I had after all the leaking, and replacing).
I want this to be it. I love looking at it... with the black facplate, little white led, and gentle hum of the D5... Mmmm sex.
EDIT: I run between setting 2 and 3. 3 is really too noisy for me open-air.
I keep hearing it is Vibrations from the Pump, so I used little glue backed FELT TABS on the bottom of my res to dampen the vibrations and so far both the original and the rev A have not cracked on me. But the first one did rust out on the fill port screws. The Rev A has plastic fill port screws so no rust and thats one step forward.
I don't know if the felt pads will help, but I know they won't hurt either and I can't feel much in the way of vibration either.
I have placed my bluray drive under my T3 and sandwiched a sheet of bubblewrap covered in felt between the two and no problems at all.
The bluray drive is now supporting the T3 and pump.
Before The T3 and pump were only supported by the screws at the side.
I think not having the T3 use the case rails in my cosmos s have affected the stability of it.
Excessive I know but necessary.
No cracks or leaks yet!
i'm sure if you made a tray styled thing out of alu and screwed it into the drive bay and had your t3 sit inside it with some padding it would be a solution?
Well this kinda bums me out, but Primo has had some time to work this out. I've still got well over 2 yrs. on my warranty.
It seems my T3 will never go anywhere but my bench. I'll just never trust it up in a case.:shakes:
DB, I'd get that thing out of your most awesome of Vet servers ASAP.
Love your sense of humor on this, my only enjoyment on reading this thread.:yepp:
Perhaps yes, time will tell. but I've moved on to other solutions as mine is an original w/top port. Vapors original 8 port fell apart all on it's own, he never mounted in a case only Velcroed it to his test bench.:shakes:
Like I said time will tell, I have 0 in confidence in my current T3, every time It seems like it's fixed, It seems it's not.
I will not attempt a rma till I think It's fixed. I'm not going on just 1 poster on this, I have this thread pushed to my mobile, and follow w/great interest.
My 8 port is still working fine
The acrylic at the case mounting holes is starting to crack though and it's never been mounted in a case...but no leaks yet fortunately.
Yeah, sorry if it was confusing. It's still alive and well but it's showing warning signs :(
It's going away when I upgrade my testbed, just to avoid catastrophe :)
