Im gona do the same while im waiting, leave it till 2morow morning and try again. I took battery out too. Im shorting CMOS and Secondary reset. (The 2 next to each other in bottem right corner) Isnt the J12 thing to do with CPU fsb?
Good show, fingers crossed she'll be golden.
I'm not going to bother trying an RMA, the place I got it from knows me & my antics only too well & I would feel like a wanger asking them to send it back to Intel. I got it trade & pulling a fast one with an RMA might damage my cred with them & make them think twice when I really need them.

Can anyone confirm if OCZ Alpha PC8000 will boot up and get into bios? I have the 2 X 1gb set
Noes ... it looks like my E8500 is dead too :( i've just tried it in a D33FB (intel board that supports 1333mhz) and the machine boots, the fans stop, the machine boots, the fans stop, the machine boots and this continues :(
probably going to need to warranty that aswell!! ill just have to wait to see if i can get my e6600 working in the X38 tomorrow first then try the e8500
So big shocker...
The transpiper does not do jack for your pwm temps, oh well I was the $30 guinea pig.
Save your dough, buy a nice fan, and call it good.
My P35 took 24 hours to come back & now she's trucking along happy again http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=3467
Once I started getting a few more lines/digits showing up on the post screen I found cycling the PSU on & off to force the board to double boot soon started showing me more & more on the post screen until I had a full 88 then I swapped out the CPU & it burst into life.
MX-2 is doing very good job after 5 day's I got about 9c drop in temp for my PWM temp, and I didn't change anything so I'm very happy with it, the only thing I'm going to do is put the 60x60x15mm fan on it and then I don't think I will take a look @ it ever again :D
So MX-2 is the way to go guy's, just needs some time for burning in and you'll become happy and stable :)

Has someone tried to compare the DFI LP LT X38 against the praised DFI LP UT P35, and maybe against the DFI LP UT X38? :)
I'm considering buying this card, so I wonder what is the general thoughts and experiences about the card? :)
got it on my NB, cpu & gpu already :), its good shizznit
I've got some Noctua NT-H1 I'll be using. Good stuff, too ;)
dose the transpiper help the cpu at all or just the pwm
why the heck does newegg not carry the dfi x38 mobo.. they offer a 1 year replacement on their dfi lanparty dark mobos and the only cheap place i can find this is motherboardpro but they only offer 15 day return policy and then it has to go to dfi. newegg will replace it for a year?? at least they do on the dark model??.. why dont they carry it .. really sucks
newegg had 1 shipment (that were i got mine) then discontinued it since its a low production product, from what it looks like the dfi x38 dark will be easier to get from volume retailers since it seams that the x38 is not yielding for teh higher quality boards since intel is duel binning the chipset so the internally binned x38 dont have as many that can meat lt/ut requirements
thats just my theory there was like 300 of them globally in the 1st few shipments so there cant be more than 1000 total and thats pushing it
what? you mean 1000 mobo's total? why is that?
and why do i read on a ton of review sites like tweaktown etc they say that the x38 chipset limits the oc of the mobo way more than p35 does? mostly due to power requirements?? what is that about can someone elaborate? thanks
btw hoping praz or someone can chime in here?
It is a pain
disconect everything including DVI
Do the jumpers for 5 to 10 Min. - push on the reset a bit - put the battery back in - hook power back up to on
wait a bit and put the jumpers back to go
she should fire up.
If that doesn't work move your ram around to a different slot. ITS seems funny like that.

pretty good x38 vs x48 article
Quote from praz when asked this question in the P35 thread:
Quote:
If I was buying a board with the possibility of CrossFire at some point in time I wouldn't be limiting myself to x4 on one of the slots when x16 was an existing option.
The two are pretty even as far as overclocking potential. If I had to give the edge to one it would be the P35 as it seems slightly better with the memory side of things. The X38 was developed for DDR3 so naturally there was some compromising that needed to be made with DDR2 performance. The plus side of the X38 is the straps. There's very little performance difference between strap changes. I tend to look at the different settings as just memory dividers.
and from what i read everywhere the x48 is supposed to be a "speed binned" version of the x38 how did dfi go about selecting their x38 chipsets.. did they test them before hand or did they request certain specs from intel etc.. love more info
