Maxtor/nForce issues
I got in touch with Maxtor tech support and they sent me the updated firmware for my Maxtor drive along with detailed instructions on how to flash it...never flashed the firmware on my hard drive ever before so hopefully things turn out all right
haha maxtor is not the only drive with issues. I read WD as well...Quote:

I just received this board. I had two DFI experts die on me along with the cpu's I'm looking forward to seeing what this board can do.
This MOBO is fantastic, u just need to know how to figure out what is the best setting for u after that done u will enjoy it :toast:
flashed the firmware on my Maxtor drive from BANC1G10 to BANC1G20...thank goodness everything went smooth and the new firmware is now installed...I'm gonna wait until the new nForce drivers are released before testing out the Nvidia IDE driver again just in case Nvidia fixes things on their end by then...so I won't know if the firmware was the answer or not till thenQuote:

I've had mine for a few weeks now and the only thing I'm concerned about is the discrepancy in the voltage setting/reading.
I have my cpu voltage set 1.4 in bios, cpu overvolt is OFF and my readings in the bios and cpuz show 1.47
Which one is correct? The setting, or the readouts? .07 is quite a difference.
Hello, when you don't have cpu over voltage enabled, the board adds 0.0625v to the cpu voltage you have set. Not sure why.Quote:

Maybe they do this to "cheat" with max overclock results on some websites.Quote:

Really!? Wait a minute now, don't get me too excited, okay? Not that I don't trust you, I want you to double check it to make sure it's 1.02 and NOT 1.01. Because if it is 1.02, then that's the sign that I should jump the gun. Up until now, what everyone was getting is the 1.01 and according to Anandtech's review, it has glitch that rev. 1.02 suppose to fix it (so Anandtech's hope). Reply back quick...plz... Thanks!Quote:

It's the deluxe, I don't think that there is a non-deluxe verison of this board. The little sticker on the pci slot say rev 1.02
First of all... Thank you thank you thank you to ben for starting this thread and to everyone who has contributed... I had been very frustrated with the "warm boot" issue and it is good to hear some theories and explanations. In my situation with an opty165 the warm boot happens right at 300*9 or 340*8 and it really bugs me. If the darn board would just become unstable or fail to post entirely I would just figure that 2.65 is all it's gonna do and I would be satisfied... but when I can cold boot and it's stable (8 hours prime) at 2760 and maybe higher I just can't let it go.
I decided to buy this board to eventually become an all-purpose server (active directory, file hosting, dhcp and dns, exchange, ISA, etc...) The dual-gigabit lan and the raid 5 controller as well as supporting a dual-core opteron make this a really cheap solution for me. It will be at least a year before I need the server however, so in the meantime (until vista) I will be using this setup for gaming.
I have read to "only" page 30 so far so I appologize if this has been asked already but isn't there a homebrew bios available?? (I am thinking something like the uberbios I had for my A7V8X [*edit* it was a A7N8X actually] which allowed for increased voltages) I cannot do any extreme mods to this board that may affect stability down the road. Normaly I would read the entire thing before replying but I would really like to have a warm boot solution before the weekend.
Once again thank you and congratulations. This thread is an incredible wealth of knowledge and much better than any A8N32 review I have read (and I think I must have read them all)
Is it on a sticker or an imprint right onto the board (in between the blue PCI-E X16 and first PCI slots)? At least that's where I see the name Asus anyway, but I guess it may be different for some mobo? Hey, can you do me a favor? If you have CPU-Z, look under the Mainboard tab and see what it says after the board (Model) name. To the right of Model, there is another field that will tell what board revision you have. Verify that and if it's still 1.02, tell me where you got yours and I will place an order for one as well.Quote:

Hmmm...a guy just posted at ABX saying he just got his today (Fri) and it's still 1.01, he's about to cry. Are you sure there isn't any other rev. written or imprinted anywhere on your board? If you are, then I guess Newegg wants to get rid of all rev. 1.01 before selling 1.02 and you were lucky to get one from their latest shipment? I'm somewhat puzzled.Quote:

Not that I'm aware of, even the official bios takes awhile to release, but I'm sure sooner or later some modded bios will pop up here and there :D :DQuote:
