Well now that you mention it .... i thought it smelled a bit funny in here :P
The 1 second boot problem is linked to the 11-1 bios thats for sure.

The board seems to be still responding well with low voltages and GTL settings disabled.

@Praz: nice chip John! is that for 24/7 clocks? what's your bios setting for that? :) so disabling the GTL at 4ghz is still ok?
What memory will boot in this board from the off? And which wont? (want to buy a set to get her going with)
My OCZ PC8000 Alpha wont
My geil, though rated 2.3V which I run it just below, boots at the 1.85 default of the board.

WIth how many sticks? Just the 1
nope, both, can clear the cmos to my hearts content, and it boots right up
When ever I choose "most aggressive, aggressive, nominal" in Clock Setting Fine Delay, it doesn't boot at oc'd settings. It reverts back to default. It seems the "auto" setting works for me.
Ram at 44412(2.3vdimm)@9x440@1.5625vcore.
Yeah, that screenshot is 24/7 stable but it's got a lot more left in it. Trying to correlate VCORE, VTT and NB voltages. Manually setting GTL values will most likely allow for slightly lower voltages. I'll be getting to that later.
Have noticed one thing with these processors that's somewhat similar to the Q6600. Anyone that has had a 6600 knows only too well that settings that are stable running small and large FFTs will crash with Blend. What I've been seeing with this processor is settings that are stable when running small FFTs and Blend will crash using large FFTs. This may go back to GTL also. Too early to know for sure.
I'm starting to get worried now.... i'm taking my bits appart so i can take my machine to work after the psu explosion and i think my board might be dead. I can smell a slight burnt smell from the 8pin cpu connector :(
hopefully it's not the case BRO, how about warranty for the PSU? If it's psu fault then they spouse to cover it!
i may be just over the 1year :( ... cant tell either as scan randomly deleted my account for no reason and i destroyed the invoice ( ) as i thought the web site would keep all the info :(
there doesn't seem like there is any scorch marks on any of the pins of the 8pin connector (board side and psu side) so i hope ill be ok.
I've got a few psu's at work i can use (mostly from intel server chassis) and all the other bits (spare cpu / ram) im taking with me.
*IF* everything is ok then ill be ordering one of the corsair 750w jobbies
the psu manufacturers are supposed to cover it?
guys, some questions:
Running 4 threads w/ prime95, my Q6600 at 1.4V (bios) right now i idle at
~38C/core....and under load (Q6600@3400mhz right now) i get max. 68 C per core, with a temp difference about 5C or 6C for the cores. Eg. one core at 59, ather at 65.
But i read this offset is normal?
When i applied my TIM i did not apply a streak across the core, but just a small dab of AS5. But as long as the core temp differences are in the 5C or 6C range this is fine, right?
Also..are those temps ok?
(Using a TR ultra-120 extreme)
G.
(What irks me is that with most tests like OCCT i usually just get BSODs...either it runs allright, or i BSOD just out of Vista 64. What do the BSODs indicate? Higher Vcore? Higher VTT?)
This board is EVIL...i am very glad to be stable at 3400 now.....some dividers i cant boot AT ALL even with memory as low as 400 and CPU at the same speed as with other divider...but this board just doesnt like most dividers as it seems)
Still no need for GTL adjustment.

anyone know what an error code 8 is?
led2 - blank
led3 - 8
There are no single digit hex codes. Either scramble BIOS or hardware damage is usually the cause of a single digit code.
All i get is C1 on mine, so asked for RMA. Apparently mine if the 1st one to be RMA'ed to trend PC in germany. Thourght others had?
When my E8400 blew in my P35 it gave me garbled incomplete post codes but after 2 long 8 hour + CMOS clears it came back finally posting 88 until I changed the CPU & she booted first time.
Perhaps try a couple of long board fully stripped battery out & shorted CMOS clears before panicking.

Hello everybody,
i am really interested on that mobo,
or an dfi p35, with one can stress better my 8400 at 600+ fsb?
I have an abit ip35 pro and i am stuck at 530 fsb, and also my memory
Transced AxeRam, does not operate more than 1160...
Has anyone tried transced ram on Dfi x38??
Im sure I will have to pay shipping back to Germany, still emailing DFI techincal back and forth
here's how ive been running mine 24/7 for a good week..
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/5...ablesv5.th.jpg
it by know means near it limits on fsb or memory but just nice & stable. im slowly bring down all the voltages atm, before i try sumthing else.
ive notaced for me @ those setting the higher vtt is needed to keep things nice & stable. ive not been mucking around with the GTL volt though. i can see the vtt is to low by my windows loading bar lol, if its to low it might take 6 to 8 passes before windows loads. if the vtt set right it takes just over 3 passes.
has anyone else noticed this?? or hav i been drinking to much :ROTF:
