According to ASUS, the adapter provides power to the CPU. And I have seen posts from people who had to remove harddrives and such from the power lead that goes to the adapter. I've also seen people that had to remove their 6800 Ultras to get a decent overclock.
At the same time, I don't see anything from the pictures of that little adapter that suggests it could power some of the overclocks that people are doing...???
I guess my main concern is that I want to run my 6800 Ultra. And I have dual 12 volt rails on my power supply. One 12v rail just powers the motherboard (which usually includes the CPU), the other 12v rail powers everything else (including my 6800U). If I were to plug the adapter into a floppy connector, it would end up being on the same rail as my 6800U. I'm afraid both together might be too much for one rail...?
Thanks.
You're right. There are some people experiencing problems with dual rail PSUs.Quote:

You can also use a 20k VR, but remember this mod is for the P4GD1 (or for boards using the same buck controller, RichTek RT9248A). :)Quote:

Dothan/CT-479 does NOT like UTT ram including G.Skill GBGH and Redlines. I'm having best results with OLD bh-5 and MUSHKIN HiPerf PC4400 (tccd)
And I'm booting at 190, have agp locked (at least I think so) and have run 1:1 up to 250, 260 with BH5 and 4:5 run up to 210/260. PAT can be enabled with 875tweaker, am I missing anything by not booting at 201??
And the sub27s superPi at 2700mHz doesn't suck, either :D
OH! And one more ??, those who've done the Vcore mod, do you remove the wire mod from the socket?? And does anyone have a Vcore measuring pt for the P4C800E-Dlx?
C
No, the adapter does not power the CPU. It's pulling less than 0.1A on the 12V (less than 1.2W) line and isn't using the 5V rail at all (just disconnect the 5V rail and it's still working). If you're experience problems with dual rail PSU's, you can make an adapter that feeds the CT-479 throgh one of the fan connectors on your motherboard, remember not to use one of the temprature contrelled outputs. :)Quote:

Anyone know if a koolance 200G/300G would fit?
12x201 in BIOS on CT-479 HSF @47.5c
h00r4y! :D
I'm going out of town for several days. When I get back I'll have some real fun :P
anyone have any idea on where to get any of the 915 chipset motherboards in the states? I'm really interested in the P4GD1 but cannot find it in the states. Thanks in advance
Moved onto phase change... but had REALLY bad contact. -39C in MBM5 one second, +3C the next moment, bit still managed near 3200mHz...
Mounting a Chilly1 head is a REAL biotch... PERIOD.
P-M 750 @ 11 x 273, 1.55v (VID4)
Boot @ 201
MUSHKIN HiPerf PC4400 @ 273mHz, 1:1, 2.5-3-3 PAT enabled...
Chilly1 Autocascade -65C

Pics please! How did you mount the MFer???
BTW, torched my adapter. Gotta buy a new one. Man, these pressed-ham hands are great for palming a basketball, but bad for soldering. I wish I lived in a country where I could exploit some little kids with small hands.
I keed, I keed.

I have understod that the PCI/PCI-E frequency can not be locked on P4GD1. Has this caused any problems for you, how much PCI-E overclocking can your X800XT handle? For example can you use FSB range 170-200Mhz?
And by the way, can you modify voltages with EIST in windows?
What temps do you need to to get to get 12x250 3gig would a water cooled pelt be enough say about 120w ?

EIST allows you to undervolt, but not overvoltQuote:

helppppppppppp
Disconect everything not needed hard drives ect. make sure ram is in correctly. remove the ct-479 / cpu and put back in.
set the clear cmos make sure the 12v connector is in and the power to the ct-479 and switch on. give it a little bit and switch off then set the clear cmos back to normal and try again. do you have a speaker connected to the mobo does it make any beeps ?
do you have another board you can hotflash the bios with in case of a bad flash ?
try another vga card.

thanks but i found my problem and now the borad work only i cant control the vcore volt in the bios and not the multi who i fix that?
also who i do the vcore mod?
thanks alot!
Interesting. If that's the case then we can go for higher clocked dothans (740, 750 etc.) without having to boot up at 201FSB. Which bios for that?Quote:

That's a common problem with B1 and earlier Dothans across all boards. If you got a 7x5 chanses are high that it's a B1 one. You can use CPU-Z to find out which revision you got.Quote:

At 200 and turbo the asus boards sets a MASS of tweaks including strap tweaks etc. if you want awsome ram speed to around 220 with BH5 set 200 and turbo and use clockgen to clock. If you are looking for higher set 201 and use 865tweaker to dial in some speed.
i flash my p4c800e-deloxe bios to p4p800e bios!! and now i have alot of thinks in the bios (like vcore)
but still even if the vcore is 1.6v i cant boot at 200 fsb or 201!! i can only boot 133-198 but not 200 or higer!!
way? and what i need to do to get multi in this bios? and also what is vid coms? or some think like that! i see it in my bios!
thanks
Yep, that's how I've been doing mine as well. Obviously, take care in tightening down the heatsink evenly. When I had the fan bracket out of the heatsink, I removed the stock fan. Got a high flow fan on it now....soon to be ducted.Quote:

Interestingly enough, I have the same exact problem. I have an M740 with a P4C800-E Deluxe board and the CPU runs ROCK STABLE at default voltage at 190FSB but I can't even boot at 200 or 201 FBS regardless of the voltage.Quote:

Btw, all of you guys ROCK for having figured out the power of Dothan. I was very close to getting a San Diego CPU for my new setup but decided to go with Dothan instead and I couldn't be happier. :) :) :)
Thank you all for the infos. I don't currently have any working dothan setup but I am hoping to get my dothan 730 by the end of the week. I have P4GD1 and other stuff waiting for it. So at the moment I am just doing some research here in the forums.
Has anyone chipped their dothans when installing the zalman 7000 heatsink?
how it can be that all the guys can go with dothan 740+p4c800e-deloxe and thay rich 3400 ghzzzzz and i cab go over 2500 why???
also can some one give me alink to download the tweaker that can enabeld the cpc from windows?
thanks
isnt it in the sticky thread called 865/875 tweaker? :stick:Quote:

and again soory :p:
Have you done any vcore mods?
Might be that you dont get the vcore you think you do when setting it in bios...
Try the u-wire mod. Worth a try anyways.
New beta bios for P4C800-E Deluxe added. Please report back if you test it :)
i am now use the new bios for p4c800e-deloxe it only give me the vcore but still not the multi :(
and i still cant boot at 200/201 fsb!!
what all the guys here do with the same board and dothan 740 to over 199 fsb?
As far as I know it is not currently possible to change the multiplier in bios with any of the motherboards.(exept maybe on the VM)Quote:

PLEASE HELP. we have read everything but still can't figure out a solution
thx in advance :bows:
What memory are you using ? it could be something else that is stopping your overclock like memory or agp/pci lock , psu etc
try running memory at 320 with fsb at 200
what temps are you getting.
what happens of you boot below 200 and then use clockgen to go over 200.
how far did you get with the asus cooler with 13x200 thats 2600 with the u-wire for 1.568 it should work but be a little high on the temps.
give us some more info and we can try out best.

max fsb cca 150 fsb with clockgen , working on 16x144>2340 @1.35v *default
when i setup 10 x 200 system freeze
Any ideas for running at 200 fsb alias 400 ddr ?
thx
i use ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE (all mod=i also remove the mods but dont help)
corsair 512x2 pc4400
antec 550w (FOR VAPO AND ULTRA) +enermax 425 dual rail (FOR MOBO AND PLATIER)

i try 320ram in 200 fsb= dont work
temp=cpu= -28c!!
i can boot with 198 fsbx13 =2580mhz and then with eist to multi to 12x198 and then with clockegen i can 215x12=2580mhz!! i cant goo over that no even with 1.6 volt!!
i dont do the u-wire bicuse i can get 1.6 volt with the bios!!
thanks
it could be you have a poor cpu that wont overclock. you are able to run over 200fsb with multi if 12 so thats not the problem.
even though you have vcore of 1.6 in bios i bet it drops down to 1.55v like the p4c800-e deluxe i have next to me.
i am using the new 1022ed.003 bios on a pc4800-e deluxe and it is locked at x6 in the bios. Vcore works ok but the range is 1.5-1.6 and at 1.6v it runs at 1.568-1.55.
i have reset bios defaults / used the afudos that came with it with /pc as in the text file also used the older one i have with /n /pbnc but still locked at 6.
lucky eist or cpumsr can change it in windows.
i tried running at 6x250 with memory at 320 but it wont post with the stock cooler and vcore at 1.6.

if i will do the vid4-vcc pin it will work?
also can some one give me agood photo hwo to do this mode to the cpu?

ok!
i do the u wire (1.55) and still have problems to over 2580 mhz!! why is that?
i see guys with this 740 dothan that go over 3400 mhz!
what i need to do to goo that to?
thanks :toast:
you REALLY need to study this better... no offense, but you ask questions like you haven't read the threads. 3400mHz is on LN2, a LOT colder than a Vapo.Quote:

my dothan steping is sl7sa!! this is good?
@charlie
wtg man nice to see you hit 3ghz with your new cpu :toast: :woot:
They have found quite annoying combinations of settings to put in the bioses at Asus, always one piece missing from the puzzle preventing overclocking. :) Maybe they are still testing something and trying to figure out if it is safe enough to allow overclocked usage. And when they see it's all safe they will release bioses with full options. :rolleyes:Quote:
