Kentsfield isnt going to be that good, its just like the pentium-D
slap 2 dualcores together, the amd approach is better, but amd has weaker cpu's compared to intel
i think it will be a tie in quadcore

nah, no tie in quads, AMD wins hands down. The strength of your core is irrelevent id the bandwidth is not available, Intels cores cant work to their full potential becasue they will always be waiting for data, AMD will not be constrained this way.

You've seen the chips? You know how well the quads are going to work and what the bandwidth requirements are and you know that Intel hasn't done anything to improve any bandwidth 'limitations'? Do you work for Intel? Are the Conroes bandwidth starved, also? Or just the quads that will be released in a year or so.

look at gamings benchmarks from hkepc, amd wins :)
its a good bench cpu for superpi and 3D mark

Oblivion is an extremely CPU limited game outdoors with viewing distance maxed and the grass dialed up. Great depth of field situations in cities with NPCs can also tax the the CPU. I'd love to see Conroe numbers for it.

Conroe is stated by Intel to be a 65 Watt disipation CPU so that probably means a little less power... How much... I am not sure...

I think someone should get fugger/anyone else to get some more benchmarks in here...I think its unfair to keep everyone waiting for more benchmarks when theres 3 people with conroe here doing testing, but we have no results! not to say we dont appreciate the work done and I know not everything can be done right away, but it's been a month to get things going, and now its so slow. It'd be nice if you guys just got over with it! But it has been interesting so far, and for the millionth time I think everyone really appreciates it.

I belive those that have Conroes will post results when they see it fit. All they have gotten when they have posted benches are crap from ppl that don't think what they have done can be compared etc.

I fully understand FCG's reaction.

The info they provide is pure gravy - a bonus for us feeble folk!

I'll be waiting eagerly for any new benches that show up! (That is if they show up :) ) Keep up the good work guys (Fugger, freecableguy and VictorWang) :toast:

which is true in a way
but we/he is very thankfull that he can see the current results
but if you see the current scores, you want the whole picture
