So from what I gathered in this thread, for best performance its advised to use the NV Silencer 5 over the stock cooler and bump the volts to 1.4, right?

You can't bump the volts without a hard-mod, they've discovered. Shamino already has up a vmod guide at vr-zone for the new nvidia cards I think...
GPU's @ 750/940
CPU @ 3200
No Vmods. Everything is watercooled.

GPU clocks still have some headroom. Will optimize that soon.
Is there supposed to be a pic or link to go with that?
just got these in. now if i can find my soldering iron.
Here's a 03 score.
7900GTXs clocked at 873/903.
154 Opty at 264x14.

xxmartin,
something wrong with link to pics of your GTX.

:cheer: nice1 OPP! :wiggle:
what voltage are you using? :scope:
not good as opp result but gtx stock cooling can climb nicely:

The only mod I have done is the core mod.Quote:

03= the new 01 :)
Well, Artic Cooling NV5 is definetly a good start. Copper P4 HS, or waterblock is surely better.Quote:

tranceaddict, before you make any alterations, please measure the Vcore and Vmem with a good multimeter.Quote:

Just start testing , tomorrow i push it harder :D
alexio, I tried using your bioses and both have different SubSystem ID, so it refused to flash. Unless I'm a big noob, somethings not right here.
Heres a dump of my bios, from XFX 7900GT Extreme 550/1630
Can you report how much the higher VCORE helped memory overclock? :fact:Quote:

That the max it can do on water? Looks like these cards don't have much potential at all
if thats the max your 7900gt can do on water then nvidia is definately speed binning these chips considering my xfx 7900gt xxx edition comes at 560mhz stock.
majestik you have to force the bios flash:
nvflash -4 -5 -6 bios.rom
thats the command to force a bios flash.
I bet they are speed binned, I just have to play around with it tommarow.
See what I can get without voltmod.
so do these o/c better (more of a performance boost) then the x1800 xl's
flashed the "1.4Vcore" bios, multimeter still says 1.196V - so the bios, it does nothing!
thanks for confirming that majestik, hopefully mavke can crack it!
tvdang7: yes, imo they do.
x1800xl isn't even in the same performance range. Even if you manage to get good overclock you still get about X1800XT performance (ie, overclock wont change it to an x1900)Quote:
