This is the OC competition by DFI own

Ultra-D/SLI-DR created the TCCD top limitation

EXPERT improved the PCI-E gaps, over 3.3V with non-segment, re-positioned DRAM slots, Winbond UTT become better but lost some compatibility with TCCD.

Venus inherit EXPERT all advantages and plus 100% aluminum capacitors, improved TCCD compatibility (a little bit weaker than Ultra-D)
Enhance 4DIMM OC ability dramatically and make 2GB OC become better.

Nowadays, 2GB is the mainstream. Venus’s advantages are much bigger than weakness.

Ultra-D honor is still there. Before AM2 coming, Venus carry on the honor.
Venus is still the most omni-bearing OC board.
As the high end strategy, special package, 100% aluminum and limited q’ty
I hope DFI can have Venus non-aluminum version in lower price to make more user can own this K8 OC legend.

Well if it is such a larger improvement in the areas you state, why is it only going to be a small limited edition run than?

Doesnt it make more sense to take this New and Improved For All Of These Reasons Board and make it into retail box updated versions to supercede the current Expert?

I mean, i love my DFI boards, but this is just getting ridiculous with the updates that will cost you some serious cash and no even include a jar of vaseline!

Although S939 is a dead technology, so to speak, it doesnt mean that people will all of a sudden stop buying the hardware needed for it.

I agree, why not release it is a newer revision Expert versus such a limited release. Or at the least dont release in such limited numbers.

3 BIG Questions.

1. When is the release date, or expected ETA?

2. How little of a supply is intended, basically will you have to bend over backwards to get one?

3. How much money (speculation)?

there will be 1000 of these made - limited edition
I've been told by one retailer in the U.K that they will have these boards at the beginning of March for approx £220 inc VAT

It would have been nice if the Venus had come out last year. Now I'm saving for the next gen AMD CPUs and mobos, DDR2, video cards and the IRS so this mobo isn't going to make the cut. The Venus should provide a lot of entertaining threads when it comes out though. Looking forward to it falling into the hands of some of the memory masters around here. :)

if you contact the shop, they can arrange a pre order for you :D

i had to order the standard sli-dr, give them my order number and they changed it to a venus board, changed the price and updated the status to back ordered :toast:
