hehehe i remember that fx55......you didn't even use that high a voltage considering the cooling.......that was crazy......

Oh, he did....IIRC it was ~1.9vQuote:

Is there any confirmation on the rumor that boards shipped to monarch have been recalled?
Since no other e-tailer offers them and DFI probably doesn't have an exclusive contract with monarch that makes me wonder.
hm i asked my local store per email i should get an answer by tomorrow.
maybe they know something (i think they are the only official partners in germany)
mfg
Yeah, but i am willing to bet they will turn a blind eye to all of us normal people. DFi is not going to replace all the CPU's they kill are they?Quote:

Both my RDX200 and my Expert run very strong. I like the Expert better. Tested both FX57 and Opteron 154 on them with no issues.
Then again, I plug in my PSU lines correctly :D J.K. :D

Well, it's pretty much never AMD's fault. I really want someone else to get back in the game. If OC'ing wasn't priority one in a motherboard, I know I personally wouldn't be using a DFI anymore. My old-school DFI NF4 Ultra-D, won't even hibernate, it just shuts off. So my computer is just set to never fall asleep. Cool Eh?Quote:

You know, in fact, I think they've lost a customer. Screw 'em. I'll just get something else regardless of what's on the orb.
sorry to hear that your CPUs was killed, OPB..
although one of my friends who got this board already said that is not good as previous LP, but I still may have a try of Expert mobo in this one two days~
hope i will get a better experience. ^^
Maybe so but you take the chance of killing your CPU (not to mention voiding the warranty  ) every time you go on an OC'ing adventureQuote:

Please remember that some of these CPUs were killed at stock.Quote:

this mb is weird .. yesterday i was running 2820 (12x235) at default voltage on my opty150 .. occt stable .. 32m stable .. prime stable .. so today i started messing around with volts to see how high i could go .. and for some reason on this board i can get any higher ..i didnt mess around though with ram settings or drive strength or anything .. just running 3-3-3-8-1t which on my sli-dr i had no problems running 270fsb ..
anyways so i give up and illw ait for the next bios .. so i put back my settings to 12x235 default vcore and BAM .. no stable .. fails occt .. prime .. and fails 32m pi after like 3 sec ..
i just dont get it .. i love the layout .. but the rest of this board just sucks right now
could it be that im running a 4 pin and not 8 ?? according to pcp&c they said i would have no problems running just a 4 pin on this motherboard .. but who knows
I don't think the 4-pin is an issue.Quote:

I think the point he's making is when he finished his overclocking he returned the board back to the previous tested good settings but it failed to work.Quote:

well you will just have to grab one of the new dual core FX60's. :DQuote:

ya, I don't think the batch of Monarch got is bad. my case should be the single case for the defective NV SLI chip after I talked to Oskar. :toast:
I'd just like to add that I just got the Expert and my shiny new Opteron 170 0530TPMW chip.
I was not happy after reading about what happened to you, and I was going to wait until I got my GFX card before I set it all up, but I had to know if my setup would work. I listened for the high pitched noise as was explained and heard none, so I put my CPU in.
Works great to my relief, and 2.7 ghz somewhat prime stable (no errors yet anyway after 30mins) with both cores going at
1.475v and the stock heatsink the cpu came with some help with another fan.
My ballistix PC4000 ram doesn't go past 250, its rated speed without getting errors in memtest. I've heard other people have problems getting ram to OC as high as before. Of Course I know next to nothing about OCing DFI boards, so I'm sure I can go higher with the ram once I get to know how the bios works.
Still, I'm happy. And sorry to hear about your chips. There's nothing like losing something that can't be replaced.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the old DFI mobo and this new one. I know the old one was riddled with problems but overclocked quite nicely.
Thanks
I never had older DFI boards, just the expert. But I do know it shares some of the components with the recently introduced and problematic crossfire DFI board. There is more space in between the x16 SLI slots for better cooling when using 2-slot coolers. It has supposedly better power regulation for the CPU. Also, something that I don't care about, is that it can run 4 sticks at 1T. I'm sure there are other changes, but I don't know a great deal about the older DFI Nforce4 boards.
