Most of GeForce 7800 GTX 512 MB graphics cards won't be shipping with NVIDIA's reference clocks which are pretty moderate in my opinion. XFX already has their card available with much higher clocks than just +25 MHz to GPU and memory..

If that is true I think those cards will be named XT-PE as usual

If yeilds of R520 are improving perhaps ATI will tape out R580 sooner than expected, if the GTX512 beats that they may try to fast track R600 which would make things interesting, but we're still probably looking @ Nvidia in the lead for the next 6 months at least. :slapass:

nVidia has the trump cards....there is no doubt about that.....and it might be that G80 is sooner that we expected..

ok to bring it back on topic. That guy's score are very cpu limited. With a stock pair of cards (out of the box) 14K is possible when run with a 57 at 3GHz. (10K single card)

They are not that much faster for being clocked so much higher. My best with 256MB cards (520/1350) is 13857 with 3GHz A64. I am interested to see what the memory timings are and also someone here noted that there is no +50MHz on these cards.

Of course it just could be that they are badly cpu limited. You LN2/Phase guys will answer that soon I bet. :D

That 7800 'Ultra' Sampsa is talking about IS the 7800GTX 512MB ;) He is only saying that on the core of his 7800GTX 512MB is standing: '7800 U' ;)

Interesting...mine are labeled different. They both just have "512" added to the product ID on top of the chip . One interesting fact is that one looks just like every 256 GPU I have seen (Except saying 512 on it.) The other instead of looking like polished silicon has a gray "coating" with the writing inverted. (Instead of the writing painted, the writing is the non painted surface on the GPU.)

Hey, Sampsa, any ideas on how each game looks with each card? I realize this is subjective, but I would still love to hear your thoughts on which card provides better overall visuals with the above games.

on pre-order this card is about 150 euros more than a x1800xt 512mb, i don't find that considerable. very nice card though, smashing. I hate ati's slow marketing, nvidia is definatly on the plus there.
