I'm finding that the Expert needs more Vcore to do what the other DFI NF4's will do with less, but even with higher vcore, I also see lower cpu temps than on the older boards if the readings are right.

Tony, OPB seems to have a 11/11 bios on his replacement board. Can you request this one for us?

Probably due to some more overvoltage on the old design .

Just checked the audio on the eXpert, its the same as they used on the old NF4 so it will not be HD although it does state losely HD on the box.

So far, I love my expert, i was able to get my memory a full 10mhz higher than i could in my SLi-D, and the vdimm "wobble" is gone.

you are getting 10MHz higher on your VX RAM? That's awesome!! What MHz are you currently at then? And what RAM settings did you follow? Tony's screenshot on page1 ?

Also, are you noticing that you are also having to give your CPU more volts compared to what it owuld need on a previous DFI nF4 board?

I think it was only one board that OPB had that killed two cpu's. He since got a replacement and all was well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any other Experts have "burnt". Ironically, his apartment building caught fire yesterday and he got flooded out. Not a good week for Kevin.

Now I'm not so sure about the RDX200 verison.

Got my Expert board from Monarch. Been playing with it a few hours. As others have noted, you generally need more voltage than the standard boards to get things stable. Board seems okay so far. Haven't killed any CPU's yet. ;) Using a 3500+ for now. Will put my FX in the board later in the week.

Board: DFI NF4 SLI-DR Expert
RAM: G.Skill 4800FF @ 2.5-3-3
DRAM drive strength: 5
DATA drive strength: 1

If I had 4 matched modules i would test, thing is i don't have 4 all the same.

What Ram for this Setup.

Ok i have a 3800 X2 which at the moment can Dual Prime Stable
@ 2.7 Ghz with 1.5v on my MSI K8N board. And im looking to get the DFI
Expert when its out here in the U.K.

What would be the best ram on this setup, i,e BH-5 or TCCD. Ive been
looking at either the Geil One BH-5 or TCCD or OCZ PC4800 Plat TCCD.

Any Brands etc, Also i wish to push the 3800 X2 a little higher if i can so would
TCCD chips suite me better than BH-5.

I have asked several retailers in the UK no one seems to know when this board will appear here. I dont know why. A reliable source I have at DFI tells me the European distributor has them.

So why dont we???

Most likely an isolated case. Atleast 20 people here have an expert and OPB was the only one with problems. Probably just bad luck, he is having a really bad week. :mad:

BTW any idea when the Egg will have this board in stock? I am still waitng on my modded Ls so not ordering the rest of my system yet (only got FX57). I really like the Eggs RMA process so I only order from them (unless I want to get something early and they dont have it).

. . . which seems to be the case for the Expert right now. . . Although even Monarch seems to be sold out already. . . . But I don't mind waiting until a little more testing is done on it, a better BIOS comes out, and the price drops from the high demand inflation that's always associated with brand new stuff. :)

i wouldnt touch it, ive heard alot around the net of the expert boards killing mass CPUs, and by some of the carnage folk have taken after the fatality, thanx, but no thanx. stick with the SLI-D\DR

There seems to be a lot of hysteria surrounding this board. One thing I'll say. Voltage seems rock solid with the Expert. I'm noticing no VCore fluctuation in SmartGuardian, unlike what I was experiencing with my Ultra-D. Have not measured with a multimeter yet. Also, I can run my RAM with tighter timings.

I have no idea what all the paranoia is surrounding this board and CPUs. :confused: I just received my board yesterday and was up and running without a hitch. I upgraded from an MSI Neo 2, and this board makes the Neo2 look like a POS. Thanks Tony for the drive strength settings, as those definitely appeared to set my TCCD straight.. I'll agree with sierra on the voltages, particulary cpu voltage. The CPU voltage is ROCK solid. It doesn't budge! CPU voltage on my Neo2 was all over the place.. Now the joy of endless tweaking...
