wow, I had no clue such software existed that allowed you to raise vcore on the gpu. I was wondering how the vcore was raised so quickly as I didn't think anyone figured out a hardmod yet and I saw no wiring. Very interesting. I hope someone brings something to the table. I would donate coin for that utility for sure.

I see no reason to add Voltcontrol via software except for clocking.
And softcontrol on vdimm, is this the first card ever that has that ?

I'm gonna get A XI800 XL as soon as i can. Gonna call some people if they can order a card for me. I just whant to try. 575 core is not bad for 1.08v. And its the max of CCC so there is more to get out of that card :D. Nog hope that the people of ATI Tool and ATi Tray tools will find a way to let us use that voltage regulator. Else i will take my soldering iron :D

6800 and 7800 cards can be ajusted by bios. I had a tool to set the ammount of voltage for the GPU. Only thing u needed to do is flash and it was set.

But this i instant no other card has it. Its more like OC guru from ABIT ajusting everything on the fly from windows.

Abit allows you to increase core and mem voltages on some of their lower range cards within Windows already. Nothing major though.

The XL has 1.4ns for what reason? It's spec is at 1GHz, not 1.4GHz... The XT's isn't overrated, but certainly clocks past it's 1.26ns rating.

The way its looking now ALL XL's have 1.4ns, at least at launch anyway. IF you were to pick one up from pretty much anywhere, it'd have 1.4ns ram (see RickCain's thread).

It's clocked at 1000Mhz because it runs that speed a lot cooler with the stock heatsink.

i wonder how much the ram will realy go. Because XT cards have 2.0v on the ram and XL cards have 1.8. So if u raise the voltage to 2.0 u could get some thing like 750 maybe more :P 750 is the stock of the XT cards that are rated 793. And those cards could even run 900+ So i would be happy if XL could get 800+ :P. I cant wait till i get one to replace my X850 XT PE board. Untill januari (R580).

Temperature is deffinately an issue. I got an X1800xl yesterday and at idle it sits between 86-90C! I can run 550 core and 530 mem, but I need a better cooler. Does anyone know if the Zalman VF700 will fit? Iam not sure if I wanna keep this or not, but I have one on my x800xl.

Arctic Cooling will most likely be releasing an X1800 version of the ATI Silencer for the best air cooling. But yea, its no surprise heats an issue with the XL.

Thanks for the welcome. It looks like the mounting holes for the vf700 will fit as long as it lines up with core. But with the size of the x1800 dwarfs the little zalman :eek:

I havent tried to mount the zalman yet because I am not sure if I want to keep the 1800xl or wait for the XT or get a GTX or ??? the possibilities....but when, I mean if, I do it I will take pics :D

The zalman should prform way better. I know it dous beter than my X850 XT PE stock cooler. But we need beter Air coolers from zalman and atric to cool these beasts.
