hey guys, this thread is a great read. i just wish i understood it all. i just got a 7800gt (elcheapo 3d fusion) and really want to push the **** out of it. with the stock bios, cooling, and volts i hit a wall at 475/1120. i will be adding a maze 4 with a water chiller in the next week or so and will also be doing a gpu and memory volt mod as well. is there a modded bios that would work better for my setup? any help would be greatly appriciated. thanks again for the great information guys
decided to finally try one of HeavyH20's bios rev4 500mhz one
nice and fast - this is 2nd highest single 7800GTX score i've done @3ghz besides using FX-57
1X BFG 7800GTX stock heatsink air @513(564)/1386 with HeavyH20 rev4 bios

@Heavy: I´ve a XFX 7800 GTX Extreme Edition. Can i use some of ur Bios as well ?? If yes, can u pls tell me which one ??

There are no delta's on the new card. When I get mine,however, I will try one out with and without a delta. Just to know how they may work differently.

And, finally, I broke 10K on 05. Took a little tweaking an prodding, but I had to break across the border before my 512 MB cards showed up. It was using the Rev4-500 BIOS, as well.
I also have some intitial tests results back from some GT volunteers. The 20 MHz delta appears to gain around 300 points in 05. Now, just have to improve the memory timings a tad. Together, that should net around 500 points in 05.

Is there a bios for us out there that have weaker cores Im stuck at 472/1330. If I go 1 mhz over then I artifact:( Im really looking for a bios that uses the 459 core speed but has better timings etc. ive seen the 473 bios but I dont think itll go that far. Im using 2x7800 gtx gainward golden samples.
ok - this is going to sound stupid, but my max memory OC on mt BFG OC GTXs seems to be 1330 according to coolbits "auto" probe settings... so if I try this bios it might cause some serious issues, no? or will the timing changes allow for a more stable memory OC? I just got these cards and am looking to really push them for benching... just to see what I can get.. they're on water with Swiftech ramsinks... maybe I should just pull the ramsinks? does the gddr3 do better bare? hrm... BTW - my cores go over 500 no problem. :)Quote:

EDIT: just changed some fans around and tested again... 1350 stable on the memory now. I am guessing giving the thermal adhesive time to set helped mostly.... I might get more on that over the next 24 hours if that is the case. :)
My first post here but I read the entire thread.. And after some Vmodding resently I still was not getting even close to what I expected My little BFG 7800GT OC. This Made Blinker very sad :( . only 7500 3d05 scores :shrug:
So I tried HEAVYs BFG gt Bios.. And WOW what a difference :woot:

ok - I got 13192 but my gpu is being reported at 540mhz when I set it to 502 with coolbits... is that "hitting a delta" or something?... anyways, my cards run great @ 500/1350 at least, so the heavy 500 bios should work! :)

Hey guys. Haven't visited for a bit. Been running through the paces on the BFG 512's I have.
Some initial findings:
Default mem timings are in slot 3. The interesting thing is the timings are already tightened a tad from 1.1 ns GDDR3 spec. That is probably why the cards are rated to 1700 instead of the 1800 you would expect. Second, no delta on the new core, which is interesting in light of the faster DDR. You would think that the vertex cores would have even more work to keep up with fill from the DDR. Anyway, trying some BIOS mods to increase memory speed and also playing around with delta settings.
Back to the prior posts, I will be releasing a 20 MHz delta BIOS for the GT. My findings have shown this to be optimal on the GT cards. I will post that in a bit. Still doing a little assembly work on a couple of PC's.
The memory timing tweaks I adjusted do not affect memory OC. The best thing to help is heatsinks on the backside and a low speed 80 mm fan mounted on the side of the card. Keeps the memory a little cooler and the VR reg heatsink from getting too hot.
I should have a good OC BIOS for the 512 by Sunday evening. I will post some comparison numbers of before and after.
Hope these small changes see some even higher scores!
i posted an new thread about rivatuner only reading 486 for all three geo/shader/rop readings even when i overclock the card to 500/1200. now that i read this thread and you've mentioned that running a delta of 20 seems to be better than my current cards 0 delta i'm am anxiously awaiting your bios for my evga 7800GT CO.
i do have to ask though if it makes a difference that my card is stock 470/1100 and your bios base clocks may be lower? will this affect my max overclock if i went with a lower base clock than my stock speeds for reference? either way i'll be testing that 20 delta against my 0 with my current bios and then try yours out. i'll let you know if it makes a difference when i get to play with your modded bios.
ok i did some "quick" testing using 3dmark 01 for reference. here's my differences:
Rivatuner Monitor readings:
450/1100 with 20 delta 468Geo 459 Shader/ROP
470/1100 with 20 delta 491Geo 459 Shader/ROP
470/1100 with 00 delta 468 Geo/Shader/ROP
490/1100 with 00 delta 468 Geo/Shader/ROP (to compare with 470 & 20 delta)
3DMark 01' scores:
450/1100 with 20 delta 23986
470/1100 with 20 delta 24014
470/1100 with 00 delta 24075
490/1100 with 00 delta 24239
now i didn't do any overclocking with either of these bios's since i wanted to do a quick reference test. is the delta put there only for higher clocks on the Geo or is this something unique to my vid card?

soooo, anyone know why i got the results i did? why would my shader/ROP clocks go down when i used a delta to get me to same speeds as without a delta AND when i added the delta to my stock speed resulting in a higher GEO clock? i'm confused here.

I have two 7800GT (not GTX). The first i get can handle 560/1400 OC (with a 50 MHz delta), and the new one, 600/1380, with a 50 mhz delta.
My Goal was to hit and go beyond the 10K point under 3dmark 2005, with only one card : succefull ;)
