I've finally got the mem benchable at 1ghz with 2.86v :eek: . I just need to get the GPU speed up a bit, and I will be able to bench at stock 6800GT speeds. Hopefully the new cooler I've got coming next week should help out the GPU a bit.

1ghz on a 6800le is amazing. nicely done.
here is a little help with how to use winfox to flash your bios in windows.
i have heard with winfox you can only flash your card with a bios intended for your card. in other words you wouldn't be able to flash a 6800nu into a 6800le very easily. i didn't try to load another bios, only the bios from my card that i modified. i'm sure there's a way it can be done though. i used winfox last night and what i did was.
1)extract the bios from my card using winfox
2)modify and save my bios using nibitor (follow Don Vercetti's guide for instructions on this)
3)flash my modified bios into my card
4)reboot
just look at the tabs in winfox and it's pretty much fool proof. it won't let you flash a bios that's not intended for your card or load a bios without checking and verifying it.
also make sure you keep a copy of your un-modified bios from YOUR card in case of problems. that way if by some chance it doesn't work you can blind flash from DOS or use a pci card and flash your card back!
ARG, ZZF has the same card for $140, but the want $70 for shipping to Canada. At $210 it's not such a good deal.

ok, so I did the BIOS mod and set it to 1.4vGPU... I may have the world's worst core, though... looks like the max is 400-410ish. But here's an improved '03, nearly 13.4k... not bad and nearly matching my best x800xl bench of 13.5k.
Looks like I'm gonna have to do the Vmem mod to get above 900ish on the memory.
So here's Dothan at 2760, 400/865 16+6...
Oh, BTW it seems that increased Vgpu may have stabilized my 16 pipe operation.

Core isn't all that bad... Stock cooled my 6800nu did 420 with luck at 1.5V. 475 at 1.65V watercooled.
I got one of these cards coming this week but its for my brothers computer. X800pro for me :D I'll report with how the pipe/shader unlocking goes. Maybe even some OCing!

At 1.4Vgpu? Now I'm REALLY itching to bench this thing... **remounts waterblock on DTR and readys ice chunks** Have you remounted the ram sinks yet? Replacing the stock thermal (insulator) pads with AS ceramique gained me 75mhz benchable on the ram, from 875 up to 950. Never really tried game stable but it was fine over 900.

I think the heatsink design is pretty darn good. It is well thought out except for the pathetic small fan. They should have designed in a 60mm+ low speed fan.Quote:

Oh and btw, WINFOX makes BIOS flash SOOO ridiculously EASY!!!! I simply opened my default BIOS and saved it. Then I opened NiBitoR and opened the aforementioned BIOS. I went straight to the Voltage tab and opened it, switched to 1.4v and saved BIOS as custom.rom... and closed NiBitoR.
Then I reopened WINFOX and did the read then the open/flash, pushed the button, it rebooted and DONE! That easy!

Great to hear winfox makes the flash so easy. Might have to give it a try once I reach
an obvious ceiling.
Yeah, the fan is the weak link in the stock cooler. You could always take off the shroud
and attach a 120mm case fan.

hmm that's nice to know that replacing the stock cooling paste with something decent makes that big of a difference. i've had awesome luck with arctic silver ceramique with water cooled cpu's, i'll give it a try on the 6800. i also stuck a 60mm stock amd cpu fan on the top of the 6800le heatsink (which by chance fits perfectly with screws to stand it off a little bit). it's quite cool to the touch now. i'll change the paste and do a little oc'ing to see what i can come up with.
tomarrow, i get my 6800le, then wed. i get my NV 5, so i should have my results later this week, after i reinstall windows and everything(winces at everything i'll have to reinstall for the benefit of 3dmarks.)
i sure hope i get a good one, but anything will be better than this 5900.
I did the cap mod... that's OFFICIALLY the easiest mod in the world... holes are already there and perfectly located... just stuck in a 3300uF 6.3v nichicon and that was it... don't know what good it will do, lol...

The holes were lined up? Where did you ground to? I had to run a long arse wire to ground on mine, which made my OC even worse :stick: Any gains? Was this vdd or vgpu cap mod?
