Yea I'm referring to the cold bug. I'm saving up for enough so that I can afford to have Chilly1 mod my VapoLS for use as a VGA cooler and put one of his single stage phase change units in the same case as a CPU cooler, but it looks like that won't be happening with a 7800 so I'll have to stick it out for the next few months with a x800 or something til' R520 becomes available.

Obviously nVidia's got the faster card now but the performance improvement is not huge.

With updated drivers, it most likely will be on the road ahead...

The ATI card obviously isn't around yet, and I really hope it comes soon and in quantity. I love my X800XT PE, and I really hope we get more news on the R520 release before Nvidia attacks my wallet ;)

I know...I know!

ATI always seems to come in and nip 'em later, but Nvidia seems to hit the ground faster these days. I wish they would launch neck and neck, though ATI had to play catch up with Crossfire, and of course, they caught up and ran past.

Anyone know when the R520 is supposed to launch?

like you said 5 drivers revision to get full advantage, crossfire 1 and g70 1 maybe the lead wont increase that much.

i just hope ati comes out with a full r520, hope 7800ultras have no cold bug

That's what I'm hearing too...end of july seems to be it... but most liley that's the paper launch date. Launch in mass volumes seems to be closer to September :(

Though I'm waiting for the desktop cousin of THIS chip ;) :

Gibbo @ oc.uk said mass availability of R520 was slated for october, I guess that with 32pipes. That's strange because latest farcry patch changelog (1.32) states "* Fixed a Shader Model 3.0 issue that caused graphics corruption on new ATI hardware.", which could mean it's not so far away.

I'm waiting for Alan Wake to get on the shelves, has anyone seen latest trailer?

Dont worry ;) For the mainstream, ATI will have the RV515 and Nvidia will have the 7600 series out by 2006 ;)

imho the greatest thing is that these cards are actually on sale at launch time. The availability of X800 XT PE, X850 XT PE and GeForce 6800 Ultra (PCIe) was horrible at the beginning (3-6 months from launch).

if these cards are available in quantity, in the next few days, I will be beyond amazed.

the 9800XT was weeks behind, the X800XT was months behind, the 6800 ultras were there, but at insane prices like $1000, the X850XT's are there, but they aren't really big news... just a evolutionary bump in the X800XT road.

if the G70, and R520 are ctually available, near launch time, without 50% mark ups...
I will just be in complete silence, in amazement...

but...

I wanna see what you can do Opp, when you really get started with these cards ;)

well coldbug under -40ºC or less,

come on bench with the fx-57 many of you have them their are goin to release them on friday this week (i read somewhere)

Yes but, Where's Crossfire? nVidia has showed all the three contenders, even G70 is available NOW, ATI does not have available even Crossfire :nono:

This card is looking to be very impressive. Nice work opp (as usual ;D). Very nice clock on the chip btw.
