ordered mine from NewEgg. Damn if only i had 4C water, or water at all
yeah unfortunately i will be stuck with the stock HSF for quite some time. :( Not sure if an XP-120 will fit in my Lian-Li V2100 case with the mobo mounted upside down, and my budget for water just went out with the proc/mobo.
Anyone running these on the stock HSF?
I could not resist the temptation. :D Picked up an A64 3500+.

Currently 54C @ 1.68v Vcore. Able to load into desktop @ 2.8Ghz. These babies might run better under subzero Temps.
Hmmmm, OK... now im not as tempted. My 3500 NC week 0437 will do 2.7 on air at 1.675. It ran all the benchmarks, but failed prime after 40min. I would have tried more vcore but it was already pretty warm. I need to sort out some temp sensor readings on my Fatal1ty before I up the vcore anymore. So im thinking this chip would not be that much of an upgrade for me.
I agree. if you already have a 3500+ doing 2.7Ghz then there is no point in getting this. you should wait for the E0 core. I have also a 3200+ doing 2.75Ghz. The only diif. is that I can run BH5's 1:1.Quote:

intresting information on these cpu's... failed fx55's or 4000+ or what ever they are, they seem to clock pretty well.
here is my a64 nc (did take a pic of the first 3800+ but cant find it now so unsure about the stepping, i think its a 0438) on air, slk-948u asus a8n-sli dlx, twinmos sp utt 2x256mb...

got another 3800+ sitting here, CBAEC 0427... hopefully it will go into a DFI NF4 ultra-d, soon to see what it does... voltage to the ram would be a HUGE help too, my twinmos bh-5, twinmos sp utt and mushkin bh-5 are gunner love it :D
i like the newcastles... i like the 3800+ with the multi options of 12x downwards. 12x multi would come in handy. 3800+ @ 258x12 1:1 DI cooled. 265x12 1:1, who knows ;)
Any buyers from ZZF getting the CAA2C stepping? Or are all those steppings coming from the Egg?
I won't have my parts until Wed, I ordered from ZZF because I pay tax at NE.
i think most of the zzf buyers are getting the CAA2C year 2005 ones...
strange that i got a 0440 from newegg...
have another one coming from chiefvalue.com... they have the same price as zzf and newegg
isnt newegg pretty much the same place as chiefvalue.com?
Why did you think that? I canceled my order from newegg since they won't exchange my winnie and are making me pay a 27$ restocking fee, I figured mine as well pay 1$ less and get free 2 day shipping with a better success rate for a good clocker, than go through newegg who I'm kinda annoyed at anyways.
They are exactly the same, they are the same company. Just a different name.Quote:

pretty much means i'll be getting another one from newegg then hahaha...
am hoping for a 050X
seems like ZZF is the way to go at the moment + the 2 day shipping (but it's UPS which i HATE).
does the date matter?
newer ones (05xx) are usually better
well, mine should be here wednesday, and i ordered it from the egg also. when i get it ill post the date and results. ill be using an xp120 to cool it, so i dono how much ill squeeze out of it without it getting too hot. i need water :)
Ummm, no its not. The last 3 shipments I have gotten from ZZF has been FedEx 2nd Day.Quote:

ZZF has been using Fedex for months now, they got that free 2 day shipping deal Newegg made there name with.Quote:

these cpus handle undervolting vcore nicely too
And undervolt vcore of newcastle from 1.5 to 1.376v
