The bus..... it locks up @ 207, 204 is semi-stable, and 200 is rock stable. I'm gonna work on it some more and see what I can come up with. I may try a diff. hard drive as well.Quote:

i did the v-mod:). i ripped off northbridge cooling, scratched off nasty thermal pad and used Arctic Alumina. it gave me +2fsb right off the bat. i'm currently at 13x193 with locked 2700+ on air. i need to buy new conductive pen... i'm very tired - time to get some sleep...

yep indeed, 2.5ghz@1.82V. i'm pretty sure it can go higher, but hsf just doesn't cut it. no data corruption, no hard lock-ups at this point.Quote:

Its crazy. You have Epox claiming no PCI lock, sys here losing windows @ 207.
BUT:
Theres people with oscopes checking the clockgen which supposedly is still pumping out PCI @ 1/2 whatever AGP is locked at. And back during all the nF2 previews, nVidia claimed that the AGP, PCI, and FSB were all independent and could be tweaked at will. What gives?
So theres arguments back and forth, but theres only one way to find out so to speak.
Either sys' memory (a full GB) runs out of juice or PCI is out of spec. Or perhaps the Asus just isn't the star clocker of the nF2 set. I mean, how many people OC the crap out of A7V8X's? :D
Well guys here is a summary of my findings....
Problems:
- 207mhz causes corruption. 204 works, 200 is rock solid.
- In the bios the "run memory @ xxx %" doesn't work. It says that it is whatever I set it to in the bios but sisoft detects it at the cpu fsb speed.
- No ddr voltage monitoring in bios.
- MBM 5 doesn't work with it.
- Can't find pci/agp mhz frequency in sisoft (I checked) so still no one knows for certain (with proof) that the pci isn't locked/setable.
- Asus Probe displays in socket probe, whereas in the bios it shows diode.]
-Sound gives out from time to time.
-Odd black screen flashing @ certain FSB speeds.
Good things:
- #1 hexus pifast bench on AMD (with better cpu cooling I might get #1 overall) and I am quite a bit ahead of the KD7 @ 210mhz fsb (@ approximately same mhz as me). So obviously there is a performance gain there.
- #1 PCmark 2002 Mem Bench @ only 200mhz fsb cas 2-5-2-2
- The features on the board kick ass... all the stuff that's on it. The sound is amazing, dual lans, serial ata raid. Totally kick ass in my book ;)
- It's voltmoddable!! :)
- The board talks to you with it's status/problems. (When plugged into speakers it comes out of speakers so you can actually hear the message).
- Overall experience has owned the KT333/KT400 boards I've used.
NOTES:
I will be contacting Asus and seeing if we can sort out those problems I had mentioned above. I tried calling today but no one replied and eventually I just disconnected from waiting :(
The sisoft score may not be as high as what everyone might've expected but ya know, if it performs better, who cares about synthetic benches.s
For everyone wondering, the slots you use for Dual Channel are 1 on the left, and one on the right. The two dimms that are close together, it doesn't matter which you use on that. You just have to have one on each side of "the gap". I did notice that I get slightly higher sisoft score on the middle dimm though.
I will write a full review including answers to the problems stated above.
Hope this helps for those wondering.

:toast: i can't match your o/c since i'm limited by few things like dead video and cooling. i broke 2.5ghz on air though:)
I am pretty sure that sisoft is detecting the FSB, not the MEM-Bus Clock, becouse SiSoft does not support nForce (2) and thats the same reason MBM5 does not work, this chipset is a tottaly different ball game. One way you could confirm if the % of FSB in BIOS works, is to run single-channel, and put memory much lower then the FSB, and see if the scores in SiSoft change at all. If they are same, doesent work, if they arent, well, there you go !

I didn't have to unlock the chip, and I have so far been able to use 9.5-12.5x... I'll try some of the other multipliers today to see if they work (like 13X and up and 9 and lower). ;)Quote:

Ditto, and on top of that, give me more info. Like your entire specs of your comp... I want to compare to what I have to isolate my problem of corruption (of some sort) past 207. I got it to bench sisoft ONCE @ 207 and got like 3280/3050 but haven't been able to do it again since.Quote:

Just been back into my bios
Mem was not set in sync - I forgot I set mem to 80%
& timings to optimal If I put in sync it won't reboot after bios
changes.

tell me if its warm to your touch?
Mine does - and that MCP-T chip at the side is rather hot.
Both are not very hot here, but there's a substantial amount of airflow over the mobo in my case.
