Did you unlock it by any chance or are you using arctic silver?
stock heatsink materiral (just opened it up today(got shipped in today) havnt tryied to mess with any of that §§§§, i just want it to work on DEFAULT lol
Have you booted it all the way into windows @ 1500. The reason I was asking about unlocking and AS3 is because Ive seen where a less than perfect unlock or an arctic silver mess on the bridges will cause things like this even though it takes quite a bit of AS to cause it
also if you rejump the cmos it boots again?
Ya ive gotten it to boot to win XP under 1500+ and go online (check email, play a game) Just runs at 1500+, also to answer your other question YES when i jump cmos jumper it boots right now NO PROBLEM!
Try this (maybe again). Jump it clear, boot, hit delete and when you get to the bios screen just hit F10, enter and reboot it. Don't change anything, just in, F10 enter. Humor me here a second;]
If someone can prove me wrong I'll admit it, but I'd bet money all this equipment is ok
It is ok i threw it in my MSI and it boots up 100% Perfect!!, /me mumbles POS ABIT!!
What do u know.. IT DOESNT SO §§§§ LOL Just black screens after i hit f10 enter lol
I think the boards ok too. Try reseating the memory with the machine unplugged. Try your ram in his machine too. I've been through this very thing. It's not that it won't run in the kd7 at any certain speed, the issue is it's not letting you save any bios settings. Hence you can jump it and boot into windows, but when you try to set it ANY other way, I'll bet including no changes, but just use the save function it won't reboot. I bet if you do what I said above, jump, boot, del, arrow over to save settings and exit it also won't reboot. But if do that only exit without saving changes it will.
What if i did this (change fsb to 133 13x multi) then just click exit without saving) Would that do something..
If you don't save it it's like not making any changes at all, won't work. This will work itself out by playing with it. I have two KR7's that gave me hell occasionally with this. Actually bought a 2100+ because I though the cpu I had (a 1900+) was bad. Imagine my shock when it didn't boot with the new cpu either. That board is now running fine in my daughter's machine.
LOL...man ive been working on this baby for 4 hours LOL havnt goten anywhere hehe
Took me a whole weekend with my wife's KR7A Raid. We went to the zoo that Sunday, I came home, reseated everything one last time. It booted up, I set it how I wanted and it never gave me another problem for six months til I took it out. Now it's waitng for memory so I can put it in the livingroom mahine to replace the KT7a I have in there now. A pain I know, but Abit boards are an addiction. It's like owning your first well bred Pit Bull, after you've had one, everything else is just a dog.

You can start getting bleary eyed after awhile staring at the same issue. Maybe leave it alone until tomorrow? Leave it unplugged tonight before you go to bed if you don't get it going. I'm tellin ya. It's gonna boot up one of these times and not do anything like this for months if ever.

BTW Man, Don't take me as denegrating other peoples products. I have tons of respect for MSI, Asus, Epox etc, lotsa good stuff out there. I just really love Abit boards, hassles and all. I should probably face the fact that they're not necessarily for everybody.

Blah my bud left, he is going to sell his mobo and buy a new asus :) Im doing to same (im goin to build another comp) I have a msi wit a AMD 1900+ and 1.5gigs DDR 333 New system is goin to be a Asus A7V8X KT400 Athlon(XP)/Duron SktA DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, LAN, RAID, Serial ATA Retail and 2100+ XP and a watercooled case/cpu/vid card ect. :)
Should be sweet, You can't go wrong with Asus, My Linux file server is built on a P3B. Ultra reliable board. Been running 24x7 for over a year. P3 500, 256 ram, 1 20 and 5 40 gig drives using a promise IDE controller. Also has my dat drive on an adaptec 2940 scsi controller. Great no nonsense board. Sorry you guys couldn't get it going. I tried.

Well, it's true what my friend says (btw: get on aim, home now).
Anyways, I am going to buy the same motherboard as his, and sell mine. I don't want this piece of §§§§, sorry to say.
I got an e-mail (finally, after 2-3 days) from abit saying this:
I don't find much of this true, sorry to say, new products and all in my pc, and I have this many problems and such? I don't really buy it, but you did say you played the whole weekend with getting it to work, and they are for people that want to deal with the problems, I believe you said. I'm not one of those people, sorry :)Quote:
Dear Customer,
KD7 is a very reliable and high perfomance motherboard. We have tested a lot of them here, and I personally have a system based on KD7 motherboard at home. KD7 is designed to support XP CPUs currently up to 2600+ with the latest bios update. It should not cause any data corruption when use the CPUs that it was designed to support. You should be able to find a lot of professional KD7 reviews on the Internet.
Tiribulus, thanks for all the help you gave us. I appreciate it myself, and I'm sure my friend mike does too.
I also want to say, that I love ASUS's too, I took my old ASUS A7V-133 out and put it in my brothers and took this new one I got for me, and THOUGHT it would be good, but I was wrong. I guess it is good, if you get everything to work correctly....
My advice to people wanting to buy an AD7:
If you want to go threw trouble, and have a challenge getting it to work, then do it, or if you are good with computers, and putting them together, then get this motherboard, I guess.
If you suck, etc etc, stay AWAY from it. Go with an ASUS or MSI (as Mike loves).
Hey guys whats a good CPU cooler for Pent 4? I have P4 1.6ghz on my other "linux" server i was wondering if a bougt a new mobo and new heatsink/ram that i could overclock this baby to 2.5ghz with DDR 400mhz ram, but i what would be the BEST heatsink/fan combo to do this job?
I just now saw this. Yeah i knew it was gonna do that. actually the KR7's I had were much worse for this than this KD7 has been, but that doesn't help your frustration which i understand. No problem on the help, been there and know what it's like. BTW the KR7 withstood voltage mods, hence constant overvolting/overclocking, even a couple of aquatic mishaps where she coulda used some scuba gear and nothing could retire that board. Just kept coming back for more. Have many fond memories of high fiving myself in the middle of the night after untold hours of tweaking my various Abit boards because that bench run finished in a new personal record, WOOHOO!!! That's what Abit boards are for. As for P4 cooling, someone else will have to help ya there Dude, never had one. Nuthin against em, just haven't owned one.Quote:

Loo peeps
Ive just been informed that, the company i ordered a KX7 333R from over 2months ago and who kept sending me either faulty boards or the wrong one entirely...are sending me a KD7 as they have run out of KX7's
So what i was wondering was......Does anyone have anything good to say about this motherboard ?
It has voltage settings for vcore up to 2.3, vmem up to 3.25, the on die temp probe is supported and it's been pretty stable for me. You won't get bus speeds as high with a Radeon 9700 pro as you would have with a KX7 most likely. Depending on what you're putting on it you may be just as well off with a KD7. It's a good board, were just starting to bump our heads on the ceiling of what present Athlon architecure can do IMHO.
Tiribulus:D
sWiZzLe, I think you should,GET RID OF IT.
Just read all the problem I was having... I gave up with it, I know you have to work with Abit motherboards to get them working properly, afterwards it's all good. But heh, wasn't worth my time that I didn't have.
But this is my opinion, up to you. Many other boards out there that I would say are better. I'm liking this MSI KT400 Ultra-SR motherboard that I got over a week ago to replace with that KD7 non raid board.
