a friend of mine bought two units, Vapo LS and GT. He was very dissapointed when he realised his more expensive unit came without a display. Now imagine that ugly, plasicky looking GT without display...

The GT is slightly better in terms of cooling, but i say Vapo is overall a better unit i mean quality, functionality, fittings, condensation proofing, software etc.

Not as good as having a unit shipped to you & then allowing you to take the time to change your components over from the "old" unit & then send the "old" unit back to them....

In other words, I had the new unit sent to me first & then I sent back the old unit when I felt like it....

Can't beat that now can ya??

ALAS, sad to see a company go down like that.... We'll see in 2-3 months time what the prices are for the sole phase-change systems are....

there was a slight leak at the evap head, I just added some neoprene to it for a while until I decided to email asetek support about the fault...

This really blows. I dont want asetek to be the only company overclockers should turn to for a phasechange solution. Sure custom builds are always available but their insulation methods are not as professional/clean/hassle free.

Atleast I can use this chance to sell my Mach2 for the same price I got it.

Will THIS take care of a64's for my mkII?

What a damn shame. Asetek should release a new unit soon, for a good price(no lower than they would normally price the unit), just to show that they will continue producing new, innovative, well priced units. That would win them over a good bit of skeptics pretty quick, and put everyone's worries to bed.

maybe they can make a quieter and cheaper vapo ST, with no LCD or fan controller:D

:( And Kit-Tronics won't sell kits without the purchase of a system... Xtwerkz.com has stopped listing nVENTIV products... www.hardwaregods.net do not have nVENTIV products listed(or much of anything else?)... and FrozenPC.com lists 13 kits instock... but I've been burned by the "not instock" email even though their website says they have something.

It shouldn't be the end of the world though, we just need someone who has one to scan it in beside a ruler. From there cad files could be made and you could have a machine shop make one for you. OR whatevers left of nventiv could release the blueprints for the mounting kits, so people could make their own.

Definitely not the end of the world... but for people like myself... it's just easier to buy what we need and then concentrate on having fun with the equipment. I used to have free time enough to make things and just sit and think what may be cool to try but to be honest... I barely have enough time to crap let alone mod anything anymore. ;) (Vmods are different since I just take them to work and solder while I'm on "lunch break") :D

Did anyone check out that site that I had linked? They had kits, but I hadn't heard of the site.

I realy want to get an a64 kit, but not for $130. This is realy the perfect time for someone (or maybe a few people) from this forum to step in and compete with asetek.

edit-> kit-tronics has the mach I with the enlight case for $503.28, that's $64.20 cheaper than without the enlight case...but they are oos...They will probably change that price as soon as they get some in.

might have to sell my prommy soon, probably went up a bit in value:)

The only thing I owned was a Vapo SE, ctgilles (who lives pretty near to me) has had several vapo's and prometeia's.

at that time, chip-con's (nventiv's) products worn the performance crown, but me as well as ctgilles always found that the vapo's had a better build quality.

so they are both good on certain things.

I know asetek also reads the forums. So asetek you guy's can also see the competence of certain users on this forum (regarding phase change).
Couldn't you guy's make a deal to work together? I mean in therms of knowledge and design.

Many forum users want baker blocks, and units made or remade by people like bowman, pcIce, ...

So if asetek could work together with these people, more people would like to buy stuff from asetek and prices can decrease due to higher sales.

Supportwise this would also be a gain, since many people could be helped on the extremesystems forums as well.

I think that these forummebers wich I'm reffering to (and I didn't named them all) are very skilled and have much knowledge and creativity. (already seen the mini frostbite and stuff like that from chilly1?)

maybe you guys and asetek should talk together, because that would be an enormous step forwards for us users.

btw, I'm not a fan of any company, I just admire the people on this forum. If we only could combine the knowledge, creativity, skills of the people on this forum, with the production capacity, tools, and r&d teams from such a company like asetek, we could see kickass systems!!

My point is; Not to argue about the competittion, forget the things from the past and try to make the best out of the situation. Think about the future.

I hope that someone from asetek reads this, and make a print of this to show it at a staff meeting or something like that.

Also, it would be a very very good thing for asetek (marketing whise) to repair deffective nventive products (for free if they are < 1year). This is a very good thing for making many new potential custommers.

yeah but asetek already built the vapo LS. it looks and cools the same as the original mach2's. and they have alot of major improvements just look at the spec for the vapo LS. i've never heard anyone with a vapo LS have condensation problems.

it was danfoss who designed the compressors. for both nventive and asetek.

nventive has nothing to give asetek, cos they've *nicked* the basic design of the mach - it was by far the best cooler then:D

as i said before asetek has improved the design.

danfoss didn't design anything for either of these companies.

these compressors already exsisted. (12V adjustable rpm compressors as found in the vapochill, where compressors designed for mobile applications, like caravans and stuff like that.)

nventiv didn't copy this idea from asetek. If you take it from that point of view, the same thing can also be said from asetek.

remeber the old days with AMD K6 cpu's wich where cooled the same way? That company was the first to introduce this new era of computing. I don't know the name anymore. (cryotech or something similar?)

but let's forget about all these things. talking about the past in that way, doesn't help anyone or anything.

Yup its Kyrotech, they went outa of that business. But I'm hoping they come back, competition is a must have for consumers to be able to come out even in this.

asetek produced the first under case cooler before nventive or kryoteck were even a company, or so I read at one site. asetek made an under the case unit first, then moved over to an all in one case design with the SE and then the PE units...and now full circle back to the under case unit again. So you could say that nventive *nicked* the design from asetek.

when the first kryotech systems came out,(and that's a long while ago --> Amd K6(2) cpu's) asetekt didn't even exist yet.
