Hey guys I just bought this board and love it but was wondering if anyone has had the bios hang right before the marvell 3.0 controller loads. Every so often the bios just gives me a flashing cursor and won't load. I can disable the marvella 3.0 controller since I don't use it or if I just reset the computer and it is fine but it hangs occassionally, just a little irritation is all.
anyone?
Yup, you're not alone.
Hi all!
I'm joining the club. Completed my rebuild about a week now. Getting issues with BSOD and freezes before POST and such. It doesn't matter if I'm stock or OC, something's not quite right yet. I am running my Hitachi on the Marvell controller, should I go to the Intel? Worth a try I guess.
A OC noob question, if I formatted and installed on the Marvell, is it safe to just move it? I noticed earlier some backup programs were causing shut down issues, got those too, Shadow Protect is my backup. I once let it go and it took over 30 minutes to reboot. I don't have that much patience so I just pop it. Yet SOMETIMES the reboot button fails! I have to hold Power to kill it. Oy! I built this to end issues with the old build, PSU is same, but in PCP&C I trust. ;-)
It's running between upper 30's and lower 40's on normal load, 60's if I OCCT or Prime95.
What other clues can I give to help me diagnose it? :horse:
What in the world made you guys use the Marvell controller? As an SSD enthusiast, the best advise I can give, is to disable the marvell controller, and keep it that way.. This board has Intel SATAIII, two ports, and Intel SATAII with 4 ports, never use anything else for internal storage/OS-drives..
Never testet the mv9128 Marvell on this board, but tested the same controller on other boards and allthough no BSOD crept up, it was complete :banana::banana::banana:....
As for changing controller to Intel from Marvell while the OS is installed, navigate to this regkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Msahci and change the "Start" value to "0", then reboot and change to Intel, install Intel drivers when you get back into the OS and remove the Marvell stuff if this is installed....
When it comes to performance, only the 9182 Marvell is decent, all the rest is crap imho, as for stability, I've not experienced any issues, that is with latest Marvell drivers not OS default...
do you guys leave speed step on or off during overclocking?
Here it's off per usual, allthough it probably won't matter one way or another in regards to OC...
thx
New AISuiteII 10140 http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mis...VistasWin7.zip installs fine on my Sabertooth P67, even has TurboV EVO program and others not in the 10113 version )))
Hi,
I guess I'll join the club and say that I love my Sabertooth and I've had it for a while now with zero issues of any kind. Running the 2600K at 4.4 at 1.26V during full load...:)
Joined the Sabertooth club a few days ago. Very happy with this board :)
I've had nothing but problems with the Marvell ports on my last two motherboards. I had better performance with the Sata 2 Intel ports on my P55 than I did with the Sata 3 Marvell ports that also had issues with data corruption. I also had issues with the Marvell ports on my P5Q Deluxe. I've had a better track record with Nvidia chipsets as far as reliability. One of my favorite features about this board was the option to turn off all of the crap that I don't use like the Marvell ports and the USB3 controller
I don't see why not. Its not you're overclocking the bus speed anymore. So speedstep should work fine as long as you use an offset to set your vcore. I turned it off to test my overclock and I can't seem to turn IEST back on. I'm not sure if it relies on other C-states which I have turned off although I'm not sure why it would.
I plan on finally updating the bios and redoing my overclock once the weather cools off a bit anyways.
Just installed OCZ Agility 3 on the Marvell controller with no issues.
I followed OCZs recommended install: update mobo bios (1801), update drive firmware prior to installing windows (2.11), then fresh W7 install. No issues at all.
However, I didn't save my overclock settings prior to bios flash and now I've forgotten some of them so I'm running at stock clocks atm. :(
Speedstep disable works with 1801!
No more idling at 1.6GHz!
I'm actually going to enable it, however, since my idle temps are now around 45-50C :(
Hi Guys,
my friend just bought a new computer with a 2600k and a p67 sabertooth.
we overclocked his processor to 5ghz and 1.45V. But what concern me is that he gets only around 60gigaflop in Linx.... its almost half the speed im getting with mine.
We dont know whats causing this. This is mostly a BIOS Setting but we cant find it.... and you cant seem to disable turbo mode on this motherboard, which is weird.
Can someone with the same motherboard help us??
Thanks.
You need the SB modified LinX, you'll find it in the first post in this thread, and be prepared to start clocking again on your friends board, SB-LinX will upset any clock done on unmodded LinX: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...nX-Stable-Club
Turbo might seem to be on when you up the multi on this board, but it's not really on, since it does not kick up multi unless you set it to do so by changing upper and lower limits.....
Guys, could you please help a noob out? :)
I just bought a new computer, my specs is in my signature.... I just build it and upgraded the Asus Bios firmware to the 1850 version. Im running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 BIT.
I just installed windows 7 ultimate and upgraded all dr... grafics, all asus drivers etc.... but mye system freezes for like 1-2 seconds now and then :( Both in windows and in games......
I have done the following to try get rid of the problem:
* Placed C3/C6 CPU reports on MB on disabled (as one mentioned on page 1 of this post)
* Upgraded the Intel drivers
* Disabled the overvoltage PLL feature thing (So the computer wakes up from sleep mode)
I read on page 1 of this post that Mem could need a bit more voltage.... Im not very good at overclocking (never done it) so not sure what to set it too... but im ready to give it a try :) Says on Corsair site that the ram runs with 1.5 volt, and I believe it says so in the bios as well....
Eventvwr gives me an event ID 10 error from time to time, may have something to do with the freezes.... atleast what i get a feeling of reading so many asus owners having the same problem... I just cant read about a fix somwehere....
I know my PSU, RAM and grafic card is ok... I ordered two of each of them to switch if there was something wrong with one of them.... memtest 86 gives me no errors....
Other errors I get, is that the pc often turns itself off and on up to three times before moving forward when restarting or starting the pc.... not often but occasionally.
Anyone could give me a hint on how to fix the freezing? I would be forever thankfull! :)
When you look at my build, It would be very nice to get some numbers regarding overclocking, voltage settings etc on my MB.... if you got time... maybe that would fix my problem....
(Remember im a noob, so would be nice of you to tell me all I have to change in the Bios, so I dont forget something :)
THanks tons in advance! Please be so kind to help, paid too much for all this to have it freezing on me :(
to include
It's most likely the the SF-22xx driven HyperX SSD that are at fault here, you need to go thru some major tweaking to remedy the issues of SF SSD's, visit the OCZ forums for the latest news about this problem...
Ok, damn... I bought a corsair sf 3 120GB SSD as well... maybe the same error happens with that one then?
Ocz forum? Its a kingston drive im currently running on my system.... Why check out the ocz forums? Can you give me the link? :)
Major tweaking? Are you sure the SSD is the reason my computer randomly freezes for 1-2 sec?
You can get lucky and not get any trouble, but it's highly unlikely as this problem is with the SF-Controller and it's firmware, and everyone get their FW from SandForce...
OCZ gets Firmwares before anyone else, and the Vertex 3, Kingston HyperX, Patriot Wildfire, Corsair Force 3, Corsair Force GT etc, are all on the same Controller and uses firmwares from sandforce, infact most are twins in different clothes...: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4604/t...-ssds-compared
Here is the link to OCZ forum: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...scussion-forum
Start reading about this issue, and going thru the tweaks and workarounds via registry/drivers/bioses/FW etc., I call it major tweaking, as after all, SSD's shouldn't need any to work... What you are describing are symptoms of the SF "syndrome", I'm about as sure as one can be about a PC a million miles away...
Thanks tons man, ill give it a try :)
