I'm not gonna say it again but its really hard to trick the laws of physics. Too bad this hasn't stopped Corsair from trying. I hope for their sake at least one reviewer 'manages' to put the H70 14 degrees above the H50.
^ I never trust that website. The in the video reviews they guy always has a Asus t shirt on, even when reviewing motherboards ect. Also did he test in a case or on that bench behind him? With regards to the H70, no you cant bend the laws of physics, but i think it will make a great cooler in the small environment I have planed
there is something wacky with that review
an H50 as intake is doing better than the H70 with 2 fans, which leads me to believe the messed up something.
theres also no specs for what fans were used for other coolers and thus were comparing apples to mystery fruit
One thing I don't understand is why pay more for the H70 when the H50 seems to be equal or even better and all that really needs is a better fan. I mean slap a couple of Slip streams on an H50 and you're good to go.
one thing i dont understand is how a H50 can be better when they didnt spend time doing R&D for a worse product
2x the surface area for the radiator, and a better base.
i think ill wait for someone to do a review that didnt take 15 minutes
Dude smaller pump and a bigger rad versus a bigger pump and a smaller rad. Why would you assume the first one is better?
does smaller pump mean weaker pump?
EDIT: cause they said its better. meaning they did something different and tested it for better performance

I like the H70 and the H50 units. I think the H70s are going to be able to handle some bigger heat loads than the H5, but with our current setup I don't think we are pushing the units very hard.
Don't get me started on the 'proper' way of mounting. Actually there is no proper way since pulling hot air from the case decreases performance and pushing hot air inside messes up the air flow and heats up the other components. You know as well as I do the H70 isn't going to beat the H50 that bad and its going to be left behind by something like the NH-D14 or HR-02 at anything from low noise to high rpm.
And in case you haven't noticed experienced reviewers have a more subtle way of saying that a product sucks.

all i asked you to do was wait for a proper review
then you posted one you think is proper and i pointed out that its their introduction to the unit and are even telling people to wait for official results
what we know compared to H50:
2x the surface area for radiator
2 fans within package
400 extra RPMs on those fans
it sounds horribly impossible for them to mess it up, unless they somehow put in a pump too weak to push water fast enough to move 250W of heat.
and then theres the point that users can try to install it in various ways. i have mine set up as exhaust because my gpus vent out the back of the case, while i have clean air coming in right ontop of the cpu from the side of the case. if i used it as intake, i would be breathing in air from the gpus. buf if i had gpus with no exhaust out the back, i would use it as an intake. or i can try to install it on the front panel under my cdrom drive since i have so many open slots (i currently have 120mm fan there already)
and honestly how bad is it to have hot air moving across things like VRMs and RAM? the air itself is only a few degrees hotter, it sure isnt 80C air just cause the cpu is at 80C. hot airflow is better than stagnant air, since no airflow is 0.00 C/W rating, which equals overheating.
as for comparing to other HS/F, are we comparing similar fans? what if someone decided to buy their own? sure it adds to the cost, but it gives you qualities you may want to match your needs, of either silence or more power.
So in a nutshell what you're saying is there really isn't a proper way of mounting but its more of a 'whatever suits ones needs' situations. Would I be so very wrong if I consider the hardocp pre-test more relevant for real users because they depicted a real situation and not something Corsair tells you is right? I'm off for now. Maybe you'll get your wish for some serious testing until next time. :)
with a standard HS/F you have 2 ways to mount it, facing the back, or facing up. some do not let you choose that option at all, then you can change the fans to kinda be intake and exhaust, but your likely to just circulate the same air
with a H50/H70 you can do intake or exhaust in a few different positions on the case, or even build a shroud so its completely excluded from the same air your other components use. each option offers vastly different results and not all can be tested, and not everyone needs the same setup or cares to for some extra work for even better results.
even up till now, everything you say is negative, you couldnt even admit that you care to wait for a full test.

i know i ask alot, but thats why we have many review sites and hopefully each will test a little of it.
they also noted in that review that the Noctua NH-D14 was too big to fit facing the back, and had to face it up. (is it really that incompatible with cases?, it was in a freaking Obsidian case)

Actually the stock cooler with the 6 cores is pretty beefy, overclocked and underload it's listed as beating the H50.Quote:

tub size is really irrelevant, the opening on cpu blocks is super tiny in comparison
my old TDX had a custom plate and i made it like the size of a uncooked grain of rice
as long as the tubing isnt super restrictive, its fine, which is why i wanted to know flow rate differences between old and new
If the pump is anything like that from the H50 (and according to Redbeard, specs are basically unchanged, only size is different), then the H70's pump is incredibly weak.
H50's flowrate was ~.2GPM....hard to measure the flowrate accurately in a hurry without altering (in this case, lowering) the flowrate. Was at the lower limit of what available instruments could measure anyway, so it wouldn't have been that accurate without a flowmeter meant for lower flowrates.
After my vacation I plan to test the H50's block as a block and as a pump+block, i.e., how it performs against other modern blocks when radiator isn't a factor :cool:
