Off course) I use masive radiators on mosfets and air cooling.
I try to freeze my card -76 to -90. Also I have made cap mods. And tried 12,6v to 1,35v vcore
I passed many times 1170mhz 1,2 tests but every time I have blackscreen at Trols((( Nature I passed 1190mhz. I think its OCP problem.
Do both GPU & MEM OCP mods.
i'm thinking mem ocp is kicking in really hard...kink has blackout(shutdown) mod..wish i could do it now..
i just ordered tools for removing it...it will be awhile when i get to remove those...
i'll try hard mods soon.
GTX480 is the wourst card I've ever benched)))
its the most power card i ever benched...i love it :D
the chil controller +driver+mosfets are also really good..no need for caps
Just imagine this card on an decent PCB ... can't wait for custom designs!
Yeah) Cant wait MSI GTX480 Lightning which can ran good without any mods
Caps is also helps stabelise line voltage on hight clocks)
My card

nice clean work...
i'm still guessing which motherboard that is...ehheheh
this mobo only for air test... oldschool)))
dfi lp nf4 sli?:D
Yes)
Do you use 2 PSU or if not, have you tried it yet?.... OR VISA-VERSA use one PSU?...
Ram OCP and OVP didn't hit me even at 1.73VRams with no mods..... :)
There must be something else.... :)
P.S. Please don't ask me how high did I got this card because I won't tell you that it does EASY 1296/1323 at ONLY -120*and 1.32VGPU and I STILL have to get it down to -190*C and more VGPU to feed it..... :p: :D.
.
Thank you very much George, for bios, for the right words and for all work, you are a fantastic clocker and person ;)
just a Legend can do this ;)
Do you insulate ALL the VGA?....
Nowadays Rams are cold bugging like crazy you know.... ;)
I used to put 3 or 4 layers of insulation tape and guess what did I discovered with the 5870 one!
NO INSULATION at all as for me for all new cards from now on...... :D
I just plastic spraying them a LOT - BUT A LOT - and I just put the LN2 pot on them and that's it..... ;)
When you fully double/triple insulate them, the PCB get's more freezed inside and the rams runs a LOT colder and they cold bugging.... :(
I encoded this problem yesterday during my tests at full LN2 -190*C and at core frequency 13xxMHz :D :p: when the PCB around the core took that white colour of snow :D , reached the rams and then the rams started cold bugging....
In such a case I have to put them on the mod I did as for the 5870 to warm them up a bit.... ;)
I'll retry it one of these days and I'll see... :)
Will try this pretty soon, thank you old timer :)
George is right. In fact, the worst thing you can do is use that kneaded eraser stuff ...
I insulate rubber eraiser all VGA exept PWMs and other power side... Also I use neopren)
What is plastic spraying?)
I try hard voltmod for Vmem but it is not help to much...
I checked Your new bios. It has bug with overclocking memory. Tried AburnerX and EVGA Presicion but it can't overclock memory. You need to fix it) Also I cached blackscreens in Vantage when core clock was more than 1110mhz.
Because it's a very bad isolator. Cold spreads oh so quickly through the eraser ... it's making the memory coldbug.
