noidster you vdimm modded the AI7 to 3.x ?? :)
well, hmm....i'm stumped. I can do 245, 1:1 with 800 strap, 2-3-2-6 but numbers are horrible compared to 249 with 667 strap, 5:4, 2-2-2-6. So I am going to need high 5:4 800 strap.
Any other tips? I think its either the northbridge or my cpu, but it seems unlikely that the cpu would not respond to voltage at all.
Any other settings I'm missing? GATs are all auto, last 2 disabled.
eva2000,
Yes I did it per the guide or starting of a guide in the mod forums here. Was my first real mod where I had to actually solder. Did it myself and it actually went pretty well :D My psu also has the 3.3 line modded so I have plenty of vdimm on tap. This ram isnt the best bh-5 but it works. Takes almost 3.5v to reach 250fsb 2-2-2-2-5 1:1.
feesh,
At 5:4 i have been leaving the strap to by CPU and just changing the divider below it. No idea if that will help as this is my first Abit p4 board so i wasnt to familiar with that setting but it may be worth a try.

This screeny is by no means to brag about high cpu clock but just to show my nice vdimm as this is the only screeny i have with it showing vdimm.
This oc was actually done at 3:2 with oc guru. stayed in windows jsut long enough for the screenshot. IT WAS COMPLETELY UNSTABLE AT 3.8GHz :D

Very nice :D
This is my first canterwood/springdale board. So I guess I have some fiddling to do.....Problem might be that I should have gotten a 2.4c instead of this 2.6c from the looks of it....lol
Yeah I tried a couple 2.6c's when i had my adata pc4000 on my Asus P4P800-D. Did not even get to 250fsb....lol so you have gotten farther than me. Im pretty confident at least in my experience with this board that as long as you dont have ram that wont work on 5:4 divider that it is a good board for o/c'ing. Good luck :) My current 2.4c is not a magic chip but it seems better than average. Those screenshots and benchmarks were with icewater running thru my w/c system. Under normal water cooling it is still good so far to 288fsb. Going to go up 1 fsb by 1fsb from here testing overnight with prime95 the first night then looping 3dmark2k1 the second night. I left for work this morning at 289fsb and running p95. So im crossing my fingers lol.
I may have missed it if you said in this thread but feesh what ram do you have?

I am running 2 X 256 mushkin level II 3500 and I've also tried some corsair xms3200c2 v1.1Quote:

Thanks for the encouragement. I think it is the cpu after all. Reseated the northbridge with some good paste and no difference.
Anybody fiddled with any of the other settings under GAT like the refresh mode thingie and Read delay??
I now that if u tighten the read delay clocks u get more bandwidth but the refresh cycle change isn't apparent in memtest.
Here are my GAT settings:
Game Accelerator = Auto
Refresh Cycle Time = Enhanced
Read Delay = 4 clocks
Read Delay Adjust = Disabled
Command Per Clock = Disabled
Bandwidth pic @ 265 FSB 5:4 ratio

I've been messing around with them. This is the best I could get so far with 275 fsb, 5:4:
Street Racer
Strengthened
4 clocks
disabled

noidster, from what bigtoe has been finding, the newer i875 chipsets seem to be running a little worse than the older ones at 1:1, but at 5:4 they seem to be doing great, so a P4C800-E could be a great buy if you fancy throwing the cash at one. :D
I'm just waiting on an RMA of mine, here's hoping I get a good one, before christmas would be nice too. :D
Hey feesh do the GAT modes actually work in ratio modes other than 1:1??
It looks like they do....Here's my results with everything auto at 275, 5:4:Quote:

Here's all Gat settings lowest possible at 275, 5:4
Turbo/Normal/11/Disabled/Disabled:

But it looks like nothing more than the cycle time is really working, cuz here's the same settings as above but with 4 cycles instead of 11:

This is my first canterwood/springdale board, so how do these numbers compare to other boards at 5:4? Are they about right? Would I benefit from 5:4 on a different board?
Yeah the GAT settings and stuff on ASUS and Abit boards adjust the RAM timings you normally can't see in CPU-Z, such as refresh etc.
It will still say Performance Mode Disabled because it can't use PAT over 200.
Looks right on to me, my P4P800 does right at 6000 as well with 280 5:4 2-3-2-5 or 275 5:4 2-2-2-5.Quote:

i have one of these boards coming tomorrow. im gonna mod it and then throw it on the prommy. i will post some results soon :D
Nice eso,
Good luck with your board. ;)
noidster
Eva did you ever get your prommy mounted on this thing? If so did you have to modify anything?
noidster
Got me one yet to test it. Just using it at stock, will test this weekend with new install and burn it in properly. Using crucial now, working very nicely.:D
Got another AI7 today Eva, Still cant get over 6200 in sisoft, @ 290fsb 5:4 2-2-2-6.
Gonna keep this one for my chip testing board. Cheap and All the voltage i need.
Forget about Gat on this board, Still not happening. @ high FSB speeds.
Picked mine up last friday. Still learning and playing with it.
nah not yet.. with high room temps at 34+ C, condensation might be a problem until after Xmas when i get air con installed :oQuote:

GAT at high fsb 1:1 seems to be a tricky thing to enable
Guys...I'm thinking about picking up this board with a new CPU and some fresh memory to replace an aging old T'Bird setup. I plan to overclock as far as she can go without extreme measures.
Any recommendations? Memory brand/speed? The GAT doesn't work?
damn i was worng :( prommy isnt going to work on this board. i tried modding the bracket a bit but still had success. i was able to get it to fit around the socket but the corner is too high for the metal part.........
Corner too high ?
