Awesome, thanks!
Press release: MSI Big Bang Fuzion
What about the board's price?
I'm building a new ring, I wasn't thinking about going Lynnfield until..............................
this mobo is rediculously good.
The board looks nice, but I wouldn't go nuts over the sound solution... No X-Fi chip, so not perfect for games, and the components' quality isn't so great to compete with audiophile solutions.
Auzentech Forte should still beat it by a mile.
Wow on a P55 no less.
I cant wait to see some reviews about this. I wonder what AMD and Nvidia think about it. Altho my only interest is if this chip will have better performance then CF/SLI. Btw funny avatar Zalbard lol
I am not a huge fan of MSI, I have never had good luck with their products. Probably more luck of the draw than anything, but I will wait until another manufacturer gets the Hydra out or a good amount of user reviews here show it to be solid.
Sooo when ATI is installed with a Nvidia card in there too won't it still kill Physx?
well apparently it all goes through lucid and it still works.. so it may trick nvidia cards (haha..) :) which is good i guess.. if it works ill upgrade to i5 I think
Haha same i just need some decent speakers to actually make use :D
MSI + creative = wait.
Which is ok because every mobo manufacturer will be falling over themselves to release a board with this chip.
I also think ATI will embrace it, but mostly because of their position in the market right now. They won't embrace something purely because it's an open standard. They're a company, trying to make money. It's in their interest at this time.
COUNTING DOWN TO THE NEXT GENERATION GAMING POWER
and it's not about Fermi or PhysX. Sorry. :)
This thread has been around for 2 months now. Why aren't there any benchmarks when this chip is SUPPOSED to scale close to 100%??
How comes and MSI chose the name "Big Bang" for the first hydra mobo?
It reminds us Nvidia's Big Bang II ForceWare 180.xx drivers that gave physx and SLI dual monitor support to all DX10 cards.
Ive actually heard this a few times now and have been following Lucid since their chip announcement, and have never heard of such a thing. Theres actually a very recent video of the introduction to P55 and I believe they stick to the same statement in that video "near 100% scaling."
Lets not confuse ourselves and call this SLI. Cause what this does and SLI is absolutely not the same thing. SLI stand for scalable link interface. Lucid is a dedicated graphics agorithm handler chip which is like.... DGAHC not SLI lol.
Im quoting you, but it seems many people have a misunderstanding in this thread of what lucid is. quotes like "SLI and crossfire will now work better" and "this will improve SLI/crossfire" is giveing me that hint.
People, SLI and Crossfire are something completely different. Not even in the same region of how Lucid Hydra works.
and this is just a guess, but im betting SLI and maybe not crossfire as well, will even work on a Lucid Hydra board.
2 reasons, rather difficult being that the PCIe lanes travel threw a processor and pointless if this works as stated.

COUNTING DOWN TO THE NEXT GENERATION GAMING POWER
Quote:
Lucid gave us a chance to try out PC Game titles F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin and Bioshock to see what the future of scalable graphics looks like with the Hydra 200. We must admit that we were fairly impressed with what we saw as the technology appeared to be working without any issues on these two game titles.
love this statement from ATI.
So uhhhh, tell me again why Crossfire is the best solution? :shrug:Quote:
Is crossfire still the best solution for multi GPU platforms?
Yes. Gamers are already adopting the first of our new generation of DX11 products, the ATI Radeon HD 5870, because it is clearly the world’s fastest GPU. The CrossfireX performance of the ATI Radeon HD 5870 is incredible. CrossFireX can deliver ultimate levels of performance because it leverages key features of the PCIe industry standard, offers open platform support and does not require expensive and proprietary bridges and licensing fees. Our products speak for themselves and your readers can see the results of your testing.
Lucid Hydra.
Directx 11? it is what the card is.
industry standard PCIe? yes
expensive bridges and licensing fees? no
ultimate performance? yes
Same stuff from Nvidia. dodge the fact that it might be better and back their product.
Yeah bro, you can see all that in the video I posted a few weeks ago...
HERE
No you can't. First the video is by PC Perspective, this demo is by LegitReviews and the interesting parts are the interviews.
Well what do you expect them to say? Anyway not all is the same.
NV DiretX 11 card is not here yet, but I hope to see it soon. The sooner the better.
I don't know about the bridges cost if is the same. But there sure was licensing fee involved with SLI.
First NVIDIA was forcing the mobo manufacturers to use the SLI chip even there was no need for it, specially not on 2 way SLI. The chip cost was about $30 and licensed to use only with NVIDIA chipset mobos which were not exactly the winners.
Than NVIDIA realized they can't get chipset for the x58 boards and they would loose big time so they decided to allow the SLI without the $30 chip but charge $5 SLI licensing fee per motherboard, which of course there was also no need for.
Some people might think it's crazy too charge for SLI license if they want to sell extra card, I was thinking the same, but maybe it's not.
Not many people use SLI but they still pay the $5 SLI license on most boards, this way NVIDIA probably makes more money from the SLI fees than from the few users who actually buy the second card for SLI.
The question is why should I pay $5 SLI license if I don't have any need for it? Now if AMD charged the same the total would be $10 per board and I still don't have any use for it.
There were some rumors that NVIDIA canceled the license fee but it looks like it's not the case.
