Hmm how much to send a couple of those over here to Aust? Thermalright HR-07's are about AU$30-50 a pop (say 17-30 euro), which is a bit steep for RAM coolers.

Great news guys: Asus finally released a new Bios fopr the Z7S WS just this morning.
Will flash asap and tell you how it goes. Hopefully my Dual Harper can now unleash its full potential.
Edit: Wow, some cool new features there, including an option called "SF Bypass" which is the dreaded Snoop Filter, yay. Now I only need to find out if it has to be enabled or disabled...

Most of the problems? I had no problems whatsoever, except for the lame performance. And now that the performance is fixed, too, I just love this rig :)
HCC WUs complete in ~3:20 at 3,2Ghz which seems about right (considering it's crunching 8 simultaneously :D ) and Cinebench is down to 36-37s.
Benches/1st Post Edit and so on later/tomorrow when I get the Yeon Yang cube.

I must say I am really pleased with the setup now and I would recommend it to anyone who is able and willig to spend that much. Of course, two Q6600@3,6Ghz are equally fast and cost less, but where is the fun in that :D
Also considering the points-per-Watt ratio of this setup, it seems hard to beat. Gotta think about the environment, what with all those freaks and their phase units :wasntme:
8 WUs in 3:20h average with ~570 WCG points claimed per result totals about 1425 WCG points or 203 BOINC points per hour of runtime, with a power drain of ~250W running HCC, so that makes 5,7 WCG/0,812 BOINC points-per-Watt or 34200/4885,7 WCG/BOINC points per day/6KW.
Is that in any way remotely correct? I hate maths :shrug: :rolleyes:

I think i was getting worse numbers on the dseb-dg board with dual e5450s. Although, that had 667mhz FB-Dimms. Which I am thinking i should probably sell and replace with 800mhz now.
Did you have hardware Prefetcher off too?
it also doing a quick glance, it looks like I can put on the HR-05/FX cooler to replace the northbridge, and not have to mod the HR-01-Xs
but the cooler on the NB is pretty hardcore looking as it is. It'd be a waste not to use it on something else.

That wouldn't help me I'm afraid. I tried yesterday with mult 7 if I could go higher and I can't. Prime smallFFT reboots, which means my CPUs are at their FSB limit. Small wonder considering they only get 1,07V VTT. So me, I'd need a VTT setting to go further.Quote:

@klajd: No, but I sent the Asus Techsupport everything we found out (about the SF and such) and it seems we were heard. Friend of mine discovered the file on the Asus ftp yesterday morning and thankfully, he told me.
@redmodel: No, both HW prefetcher options are set to enabled. I tried again with the new bios and couldn't find any differences in Nuclearus, Cinebench etc. so I left them on. Just set SF Bypass to enable and you're good. I also have EIST/C1E enabled, so it goes down to 2560Mhz and 1,05V or something :D

The HR-05 IFX will fit the NB with unmodified HR-01 X, but its bottom plate has a surface area vastly smaller than the IHS of the 5400 northbridge. Friend of mine uses it and says it works well, but I'm not a friend of small coolers on large heatspreaders.
On another note, it seems that my Z7S is NOT cheating about the mem speed, benchmarks indicate there is no throttling or wrong divider involved. :up:
However, a friend's Z7S is cheating somehow. He runs his 667 FBDimms at a reported 412Mhz (which can't be true obviously) and gets horrible ram bandwidth benches, less than me at stock 333.
So be careful with clocking 667 FBDimms too high, at some point the mobo will reduce performance. However it seems to generally be able to clock the mem higher than other boards.
