I solved my prob now :
And the guilt goes to .... my OCZs !
With the new Bios it´s not possible to get them into their settings :(
When i turn them down to 1333MHz all works fine and I need a lot less voltage ( everywhere ! ).

Ok I just purchased this board and am getting it ready for SS and later cascade. What is the max FSB for quads on this board is it the same as the Maximus Formula SE?

my cpu temp went down 20 c with 0904 bios . And memory overclocking improved much =) .
0904 bios not bad
My temps have not improved but so far so good

I would really love to know your bios voltages and settings recommended for this setup. I am new to OCing but have a decent WC setup and would like to try it out. Id like to get 10x400 stable. I cannot figure out what im doing wrong, and no one posts thier voltage settings. I have the ME w/ QX9650, Corsair 1600 2gb x2 (the ones with the big heatsinks), a thermochill PA120.2, Swifteck GTX with copper top, Swiftec MCP655 pump, and the D-tek fuzion GPU cooler. I cannot get bios to post @ 400... but i can get a perfect 12 hour Prime95 run @ 11x375 4.1ghz, 1500 Ram. But if i increase FSB it wont boot...
For 10 x 400, try this:
CPU PLL: 1.5
NB: 1.49
FSB Term: 1.4
works for me
Hello again people, had missed this thread posting on another forum on my overclocking progress of the Maximus Extreme and QX9650.
Here is the thread with more pictures of my current rig setup: http://forum.vadim.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1556
Here are some results I'm currently achieveing on water:
24/7 cool-running speed:
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d..._86/Temp-1.jpg
CPU load around 55 degrees, Northbridge load 35 degrees.
Highest 2xOrthos 6 hour stable speed:
Around 4.45Ghz, Couldn't find a SS of it...:p:
Highest benchmarkable speed:

Highest windows bootable speed:
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...asy_86/4-5.jpg
and SuperPi 1M at this speed:

Lapped QX9650, seated with AS5, BIOS version 0904 (awsome version!! :D), Vista 64-bit.
:D MAXIMUS EXTREME loves Penryn:

has anyone hint for me how I could watercool the ME incl. the use of cf?
got the mips cooler next to me, but it seems that I wont be able to cool the idt...

seems impossible to use the swiftech heatsinks like eternal_fantasy did it, the second card is just to close to it.
Just as i tought... looks like a bunch of people having trouble with Conroes on this board (me included) .. i also have this freeze problems/BSOD, ofcourse it is on high OC, but i really think this board really could handle ATLEAST what a 965 board could, but nooo... seems like it need ALOT more vcore for same speed.. like 0.1v more. And if i change a mem setting, the MB shuts down and on for the setting to take effect, then the system are stable in prime a while, but then it crashes, and are impossible to go prime again... but change some setting and boot again, then it works..
I also noted that at 1.70 4ghz it didnt crash, but at 1.5~ where it was stable in Commando, it wont go......hmmmm whyyy this problem?
The mem OC went worse with 904 too.
perhaps as i said, that X38 are more optimized for penryn family processors.
Looks like it atleast, Camoflauge and others Yorkies just love X38..
ahh well, cant test that before January 20th atleast, but i look forward to it :)
 Won't say so - my Conroe did a perfect job on this board:

:D Thx for posting this - makes me feel I should give 0904 a try now....;)
I have been fine tuning my 24/7 settings and landed on 10x420. Anything higher than 4.2 ghz requires big voltage jumps. Also at 1680 mhz on the ram I can run 7-6-5-16 timings, whereas at 1800 mhz I have to loosen to 8-8-8-20 in order to pass OCCT. (Not sure what the deal is with that.) Anyway, overall I'm pleased with the memory performance especially the low latency:

I had ALOT OF issues with the board, NOTHING worked, But after selecting strapp manualy everyhing is fine, 400x9 1:2 at strapp 200. Not an amazing acheavement but cool enough :D

Well mine doesnt work at all as good as it did on my Commando, sure it clocks about the same, but cant keep it stable, dunno why , and with 1.76 i could reach my maximum at 4400 in the summer, now it even freezes at 4300..
and 500FSB are a no go, wont even boot, before 16h stable...
soo somethings up with this....... well well its just face the facts i guess..
maybe ill try an older bios, like 702... AFUDOS wont complain on any old bios i hope like Ezflash.
regards.
FWIW the Maximus Extreme is the only board on which I've been able to boot a q6600 at 500 fsb:

so anyone else using 904 can provide feedback?
Hmm, what is causing nvidia drivers to stop responding during OC?
i thought that pci-e were locked, or am i missing something?
PCI-E goes trough SB 1.5 , or the other SB? :) dumb question maybe but anyway..
im in 8x500 ddr2000 now, that it didnt even boot at before, SO strange hahah
but am getting nvddlkm something that is stopping to responding, but recoveres.
How are the dividers working? i have many issues with them on 803, not all work.
@ infa :
that was exact my problem.
But I though PCIe goes through NB.
I had to clock down the memory. Now I a waiting for response from OCZ cause my mem should work @ 1600 ... but when I clock my RAMs to 1600 it´s only a matter of time till nvlddmkm.sys quits.... it recovers a few times but over the time I´ll get a bsd.
GF let me have my christmas pressie early. Started a bit of prep work this evening. I tell you thats some rotten sh1t they put under the heatpipe as TIM. I'm at least an hour scraping the stuff off, chippin the tinyest bit each go. And impossible to get a completey smooth surface. Anyway, best I could do, the real fun starts tomorrow. Though I'm beginning to wonder from all the posts in this thread if it's the right choice of board?
This might be slight offtopic, but...
How come this board (if that's the reason) has so many probes in ASUS Probe?
On my P5E i only have the Vcore,12,3,5 + CPU & MB temp... ?
Anything special you need to do, or is it just the boards that determine what you can see?
Hmmm, did not work here.
I changed PCIe to 110 and switched my memory to 1600 ...
afterwards I took me some time to get it at least for 15minutes stable.
Raised NB to 1,49V , CPU PLL to 1,6V FSB term 1,4V
then it passed my 15min prime-test.
So I tried next with a game :
took only 2 minutes to let nvlddmkm.sys crash again. :shakes:
Maybe you could post me your settings.
What did I wrong ?
