i also had 1600 memspeed bug with p5k3. haven't tried nor lower neither higher freq if bug was present.
hmm i will try that 2050 boot for you now :)
the 1600 memspeed bug as you label it, i think the bug of the P35 chipset with DDR3, its bug on my P5K3 Deluxe and Blitz Extreme (actually not mine, only for testing but doesn't matter) too...
the black screen, psu off, or double reset sindrome is the same, but pci-e don't go high to me... or i just didn't saw it, maybe that is the reason of the problem, dunno...
i first thought its a vga problem but it only happens on asus p5k3 boards around 1600 memspeed. which is weird since that is the speed many people boot at and run their mem at 24/7
tell this to intel or asus :D hmm just recognised, whats up with gigabyte mobos?
real ;)
Thanks I Haven't Tried Any 3d Benches On Maximus At This Speed Usually Use 1600ish At Tighter Timings I'll Try It,
i didnt really try this 1600 thing on our gigabyte board... i dont like the gigabyte bios :P no cmd 1t and the settings and menus are... weird :P
so the bug could be on gigabyte boards as well actually, so maybe its an intel bug...
heheh, im on the same opinion, hate the gigabyte bios
yep, but is this bug still in x38?? i've forgot to see this when the p5e3 ws pro was here  have you some board to test this?
Hey guys.
I don't remember any issues at DDR3-1600 for me on the P5K3 Deluxe.
Maybe it's my "memory" ( in my head, not the RAM :p: ), maybe not.
I'll try to replicate the "bugs" that you're talking about later on this week probably.
Can't guarantee you anything, got many many things going on...
and on top of that...I have to do some initial testing for the X48T-DQ6...
Talk to you guys soon.
P.S. I'll reply to the PMs in the afternoon, gotta hit the road again in a bit.
i have a p5e3 but havent experienced the 1600 bug on it yet.
on p5k3 it happened several times and always with low (but high enough) vdimm.
interesting, as i can remember p5e3 ws pro and all of the series has no 1600 bug (not sure) but 1:2 ram delivery don't work on many mobo's...
anyway, i've playd a bit on higher timings, and i can boot easy 2050 cas8 it's interesting that you can't saaya, maybe mobo differences, i've used 1.9vmch...
1070.7mhz 8-8-8-24 validation at 2.20v / 2.24v
and the fun is, at cas 10 i've got freeze around 1050mhz... it looks very nice, that i've serious mobo limit on that high clocks, i need to get a maximus extreme soon
try tras 27, it should give you a few extra mhz :D
it decreases performance tho afaik :/
i have all boards at stock, so maybe i need mofe vmch to boot at 2050... i think so...
performance doesn't matter if i see max valids you know :D
if you have all mobo's, why you don't try ME or do some mods on that little p5k3 mate :p:
Hmm, talking about that 1600mhz bug, I wonder if my experience with Blitz Extreme and DDR3 has something to do about it.
I'm not using the Cellshocks though :D, the sticks were OCZ Platinum DDR3, pretested on a P5K3 dlx running at 1600mhz 7-6-5 2.0V easy (stock timings 1600mhz 7-7-7), while on that Blitz they couldn't do anything less than 8-7-7 timings wise at over 1500mhz regardless of voltage and/or vmch set for the board, and maximum frequency for them to post at all was around 1850mhz 9-9-9.
Bala, good to see that you tested a little yesterday...
Keep going :D.
Is PerformanceLvL 5 good at 800Mhz?
I've tested it with 800@7-6-5-15@1,9V and it works....
Screen is on my other hdd, i will post it later.
450MHz FSB ? If yes, then yeap, PL5 is good for that FSB :)
p.s. Just tested all the CPUs that I've got here on the X48T-DQ6 rev1.1 hoping for 1 of them to reach higher FSBs than with the P5K3D...but I got nothing :(
Max FSB 517MHz... :(
Gonna grab a E8500 more than likely off a store this week.
you could run high mem speeds but only with 999?
thats odd... did you use high nb voltage on the blitz?
especially the older blitz boards need 1.5v chipset voltage at LEAST to get high mem clocks. either that or the mem was damaged... but that sounds unlikely as then it wouldnt run stable at high speeds with 999 either....
bala, yeah i know, im planning to mod one of the boards for weeks now but dont find the time :D
nice results robert! what vmch?
lol, don't wait till march mate :p:
thanks Oliver ;)
mrlobber: interesting, i've recognised the same... Blitz Extreme handle ddr3 worse than my modded P5K3 Deluxe, 2000 cas7 32M was a dream in it
Well, my Blitz should be some special one... after I discovered the issues with RAM, with a friend one evening we organized a DI session with 3 different cpu's known to do 570+ fsb on DI on various 965/P35 boards (including one 8400 pretested at 4.8+ ghz on another Blitz). None of them ran over 540 on that board so it might be one of the worst clocking Blitz's Asus has ever produced.
In frustration, we later covered that board with DI and managed to squeeze out a 606fsb bios screenshot, but that's it, there wasn't anything benchworthy there... Of course, we tried all the voltage ranges, but we observed that actually with voltages from the upper yellow range in bios, the board started clocking worse, not to speak about red values (for example, 1.8+V on the chipset)
As with that OCZ RAM, it can run 888mhz 8-7-6-21 @ 1.82V fully stable on the board, which itself is not that bad, but tighter timings or more mhz (with the same timings) ,or more voltage = crash. Go figure...
Just tried to run this kit on the Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 rev 1.1 E.S. to see if I can match the high memory clocks ( DDR3-2020+ ) that I reached with the P5K3 Deluxe, but it seems that this board can't run DDR3-2020+ memory clocks ( will have to test it more thoroughly though...maybe more Vmch, etc ).
Mr. Lobber, Im finding the same problems with my Blitz. I cant hit 1800mhz with any timings but can do 1750mhz 7-6-6 dual 32M, no Orthos, with relatively low volts.
I have a hint that its BIOS problem or maybe my RAM because it hasn't been tested in another board. The reason I think BIOS is because out of the three I've tested each one has different stock timings. Im working on testing all available BIOS's but just have to find the time.
If you find a solution or an idea please post back as I'd like to hear :)
Yeah, 400MHz FSB & PL5 is "normal".
PL6 at 500MHz+ FSB [ 266 Strap ] for example is neat [ but you need lots of MCH volts :D ]
