Then AMD will have a great opportunity to grab the whole low-end x86 market with cheap and mass single-K10-core Semprons (Spica, afaik) without Intel's serious competitors. Such CPUs are usually used with integrated graphics... so, AMD will be able to make big money on chipsets and integretad graphics as well. I can hardly believe Intel will let such development.

I don't think so. No matter how great Intel yields are, there will be failed cores recycled into Celerons or similar. Intel will NOT throw the good half of Dual Core in the Dumpster. Just as if some of the Cache is bad, then they'll recycle it as well. There's no reason why a Penryn Core 2 Solo wouldn't run at 1066 since many boards left 800MHz FSB in the dust.Quote:

Wow those gaming benchmarks, power consumption comparisons and heat comparisons are the sweet spot for me. I'm glad I didn't keep my Corsair 620HX cause my Enermax 500W will be able to pimp out the new smaller nm CPU and GPU chips no problemo.

Nehalem borrows from INTEL'S past technologies that were not ready, needed better engineering, smaller processes, OS support and last but not least, software support. 1. Look up IBM Summit with multiple North Bridges linked serially years ago. Intel Fabbed Alphas and could have went with EV6 long before AMD did. 2. Intel is copying Timna that was their SOC (system on a chip) long before any Athlon shipped with an IMC and Fusion wasn't even an idea in those days. For Intel, this tech was the last thing they planned for RAMBUS. Meaning its older than Intel's support for DDR1 LOL!

and in the chipset department x38 now, higher binned x38 end of 07, a chipset officialy supporting 1600 FSB mid 08 and a new one for nehalem? did i get that right?
looks like i'll be getting a x38 baord + Q9450 and then sit out on 1600 FSB ones and then as next upgrade a nehalem... (in case amd doesnt get to grips till then lol)...
Yes, they can say 1600MHz FSB as much as they like. By the time Intel reaches 1.6GHz FSB, they'll be on a new socket. Or at least that's the way it looks now but that is not set in stone. Intel is bound to build Nehalem based legacy processors for not only Sc775 but the Xeon Based Sc-771, as part of their Stable Platform marketing.Quote:
