I have been trying to imagine what you are trying to say, and have constructed a diagram - please comment if this is right.
Alternatively, a single 10K pot will suffice as well, yes?
Just to satisfy my curiosity, what will a 1K pot yield? I've got like, 9 of them ...

Well, this is what I came up with, a diagram similar to yours.
For me, 9.7K were enough for the .3 offset, a friend tried with a 0 Ohm(grounding the pin actually) and he got the max of 3.24V, but that's what he said - I didn't tried it. So, I don't know if the 1k pots can do you any good actually.
I believe that if the 0.3 is what you go for, then a single 10K pot will be ok, but remember not to install any memory before you have finished with the measurements and adjustments.

OK I got a dumb question. When I am measuring my unmodded board, I get 2.79v when the bios is set to 2.55v and 2.903v when set to 2.85v. I am measuring where was shown in the earlier posts. Like wtf?
mem in or out of it? I get higher volts when my mem is out of it, modded, or unmodded, so I just leave it in and adjust it...Quote:

With mem in I need to up about 0.15V to get the correct offset though the offset is correct when the mem are not slotted.

Anyway I did this on my P4P800 [sorry if this is a wrong post], and one thing I observed [and advised by RootX] is that anything beyond 0.3 offset [above 3.15V max] the voltage goes a little crazy - like sometimes drops to about 3V or wouldn't budge from the max point.
I just cant understand how I can measure the vdimm. I can see in the picture only one point. The second point where is it ? Sorry if it is a stupid question ! :D
I'm a noob at Vmodding, but it should be from the point you're mentioning to a ground...

If I am doing this mod like NyCUndaGrounD on the previous page, and I am using a 47k vr like marco...which pin goes to which leg. I am having trouble understanding the pin # and I don't understand which leg goes to the ground...
It shouldn't matter as long as you know which way to turn the knob to increase/decrease resistance. You can determine this using a dmm before you install the pot on the mobo.

so if i am dealing with the right and middle leg, I can attatch either one to the leg of the chip, and the other to the ground? So then I don't have to worry about which is pin6 and pin 4 because it doesn't matter?...cool. After working with a soldering iron for about an hour today i realized that I could probably realy easily solder this mod on. I was using solder that was waaaayyyy to think and i was still able to accurately place the solder on to an equal sized leg in the middle of a similar chip without making contact with anything else. I may still do the smd grabber way just to be able to take it off for when i sell it (if i sell it). That way the future buyer doesn't have a voided warranty.
I got my grabbers and VRs in today, right in time for the weekend! I gotta get this mod done to my board so I can pump 3.2v through this hyperx 3500 I got :) Putting my swifty tech block on too! Hopefully I don't have any disasters this weekend!
I went with the 4pca3+ rev2, but I think I might still pick up a p4c800-e and see which i like more. I couldn't pass up being one of the fist americans to get the rev2. I love epox, so even if it isn't quite as good how big could the gap be?
A nice plus was not having to do a vmod. I still have to do about 10 of them to other mobos and gpu's, but 1 less to worry about is nice. It will be cool to shoot 3.3v through my khx 3200 b-5 that got here yesterday, and my 3200 geil gd that can do ddr482 on 2.75v with 2-3-2-x timings.
OK, I got my 50k vr and my grabbers. I want to be extra sure that I am doing this correctly. Tell me if I am wrong, but this is how I understand the mod to work...
Solder one grabber to the middle post on the vr and the other grabber one of the other posts. Now turn off the computer, unplug it and remove the ram. Hook the first grabber to the second post from the top on the left. Hook the second grabber to the top post on the right. It doesn't matter which grabber is hooked up to which side, just as long as they are on the correct posts. Make sure the vr is at the highest resistance. Now turn on the computer without the ram in the mobo. Turn the bios voltage to 2.85v. Now take a reading with a multimeter from the post on the mofset pictured below. Slowly turn the resistance down (voltage will go up) on the vr till the multimeter reads 3.15. Now turn voltage down in bios so when you put the ram back in the computer it isn't running 3.15v. Turn off the computer. Put the ram back in. Start up the computer and enjoy up to 3.15v mem adjustments.
Is all of this correct? This is my first voltage mod of any kind. Some help would be VERY much appreciated!

Be very careful when measuring off the mosfet and not short the measurement point to the center pin on the mosfet ! that could be deadly to the mb !

ok, I got everything hooked up as it should be. But when I lower the resistance on the vr nothing happens to the vdimm voltage. I know that the multimeter is hooked up correctly, because when I go into the bios and set the voltage up or down the multimeter changes corospondingly. But when I lower the resistance on the vr nothing happens on the multimeter. What am I doing wrong? I can post pictures if you need them to help me out.
neyoung those are the right legs on the vr.
The only thing I can figure is that your DMM might be set wrong ??
Also did you start with the VR at the highest resistance ?? if its a 10 or 15 turn it might take a few turns before you see any real increase in Vdimm on you meter.
Also if it makes you feel anybetter, the max you can get out of the Vdimm cirtuit is only 3.15v - 3.2v regardless of how low the resistance you have the Vr set too. so you don't have to worry about hitting your ram with 3.5v or something (i wish it would go that high ! lol)
Major, here is a pic or the resistance on the the vr. It is a 15 turn vr and I turned it so the resistance would go down for quite a while. After I had it hooked up and was turning the resistance down without change, I unhooked everything the resistance said 35k on the multimeter. So I know I was turning the correct way
Ok, I'll bet you are just going to have to turn it down quite a bit before you see any significant change in Vdimm.
If I remember correctly, I pulled my Vr off my dead P4C800 at it was at about 8k for a .3v offset. So why don't you set the Vr to 12k and reinsert it and go from there.
ok, I'll give it another try tomorrow night and let you know what happens. Do you by chance know the resistance on your vr to get the .3 overvolt? If not no biggie. I will get this damn mod working!!! :) Thanks for all the help Major!
Well my memory is not the best in the world !! but I think it was 8.3k ?? for a .3v offset. So if your at 35k you got a long way to go !!! I'd start at 10k and go from there.
