I read in the Commando thread that this board has RAID problems because of BIOS, not saying it's true, just trying to find out how the performance is and if it is buggy or not.Quote:

The Raid problem with the Quad-GT is that u can't really use raid....if u enable jmicro controler then the ich8r raid setup doesnt appear and cant be used and if disable the jmicro and set up an array you cant use optical drives since raid+sata optical on the ich8r doesnt work (although that part is intels fault) .... they will probably fix it soon hoppefully without any other issues corruption and such, but who knows if they pu out a board like that with such a major issue who knows what we can expect :DQuote:

you can use a Raid SATA PCI card and still uses all the other controllers in SATA and IDE modes...that is workable solution for now....this only affects what is on the PCIe bus.
since i have a Areca PCIe card, my main interest would only be using the Intel controller as a SATA port.
I think I will be using my old promise IDE RAID card to controll my dvd burner. No big deal..as long as it works, the RAID controller I have now won't recognize optical drives. This is a stupid thing to have to deal with, but if this is the only issue other than the max 525fsb I'm getting one.:toast:
Hey guys, im finnally all set up on my board, got my maximizer installed and such.
This board is freakin fast. its runs 4:5 pretty well too.
right now im in 4:5 at 420x8 (3360mhzz) with 525mhz ram at 4-4-4-12-40 with 2.43vDimm (havent tested lower Vdimm, im certain this ram can go to 550 with 2.4v) But here is the kicker, my hexus pifast times are only 2 secs off my 4ghz times with the p5b Deluxe. thats with 600 less mhz!!! ~27.9 sec on 4ghz 1:1 500mhz ram 4-4-4 on 1333 strap, becomes ~30.09 3.3ghz 525mhz ram 1066 strap.
Also to note - this board offers great stability, pretty much if it boots it is stable, otherwise just flip the easy cmos switch on the back panel. I thought the P5B-D was the easiest overclocking board ever - i was sorely mistaken, this thing owns it, with better performance too.
Right now i am on the beta bios and i havent encountered any bugs at all. I need to re-learn how to clock this ram on this board as the timings effect performance differently on this... i also want to try out the 1T timing....
I'd like to show some pics of my setup, but i cant find my camera charger. :(
Is abit even acknowleding this jmicron issue?
hey Revv23, nice to have some more encouragiing results over the P5B. :)
I don't know why companies still use the jmicron controller, it seems every board that uses it has issue, luckily i dont raid some im ok with it.Quote:

i didnt have that poblem , had a pair of corsair b4 and they need 2.1 and board comes default at 1.8 i think and booted fineQuote:

Ok here we go for the real clocks

Amazing time for the mhz imo.. going higher now.

All-righty-then!:D
Ok, my here is my MAX on P5B-D...1.7vcore, had to clockgen up to it..i had the windows open with about 60F roomtemp :
http://xtremesystems.org/forums/atta...1&d=1171389631
Here I have a straight boot first try at 500fsb with 1.6vcore windows closed with about 70f roomtemp:
http://xtremesystems.org/forums/atta...1&d=1171389631
And here is a comparison: 26.13 on P5B-D = 25.50 on Quad GT

looks VERY good!
i just need to hear from Areca techsupport about Vista 64 bit...i am hoping they will say their 64 bit WinXP drivers will work with Vista 64 bit before i buy the QuadGT...i am frothing from the mouth in anticipation!:D
More fun comparing - remember i needed an open window to do this on P5B where the Quad is just doing it in a warm room... after this bench i am cracking the window:) Also note that on the P5B i have to take the SS and then clock down to make the post, right now i am poting this right at 4040mhz. :D
P5B:

Yes, that is a big typhoon on my 1900xt :D.

As you can see, i just bent the pipe upwars so i could leave the VRM cooling and put my MCX-59 on the NB, this madea HUGE drop in both PWM and NB temps. Before both were too hot to touch.

Looks like I'll be getting one too. Revv23, could you lower your multi and see what max fsb you can get? You should see if you can max out your memory too.....:stick:
EDIT: I'm confused. This is take from the anandtech article on QuadGT. "The current BIOS allows you to stay in the 1067 strap up to the 525FSB ceiling with our E6300 and E6400 chips, and this allows for some incredible memory and system performance at the higher FSB settings. Our E6600 has hit 7x550FSB in initial testing at this time." If the ceiling is 525, how did they get a 6600 to 550mhz?
