yes, I know that, but Spawne32 sounded like he thinks that just having xsos will make things look better, like in flight sim screen shots... :)

Maybe you answered this before and I didnt see it but...
In Vista I read some place that they have a different DirectX 9 thing than XP had and you get better DirectX 9 performance in Vista. But will XSOS get better performance in DirectX 9 like Vista does or will it use the normal Windows XP DirectX stuff?
Hmm, I like the thought of an OS I can use to play games with that isn't m$, then i can dual boot XSOS and Gentoo, yay! this means i could potentially start playing wow again, lol
I think it will ve a good OS
Interesting, have you developed this entirely by your self? There is a similar project that started in 1996 called FreeWin95, but is now called ReactOS which also has the same version number.... Have you taken the source code for this, modified it and called it something else (which you can do)? If you have you'll have to release the source code for it as stated in the GPL License which ReactOS uses
nn, first i want to say i love v2 of XSOS its great. the only hangup ive ever had with it is my dang zboard not working properly. any info on if V3 will support the zboard?
Will XSOS v3 be skinnable? Personally I dont like the classic windows look, and would rather it be skinned to look good, but if its not possible, its bearable.
Looks very interesting, heres waiting for the beta!
lol i know that :p:Quote:

after reading through 6 pages, i have to say this is the most exciting thread on this forum!
whoever you are nn_step, thanks for putting so much effort into a project like this, for people such as myself.
perhaps you should add a link for people that would like to make a donation for the cause (your time, and research)
looking foward to your beta release.
i was thinking that aswell. he should setup a "pay pal" account or something! i for one would have no problem contributing to the further developement of this OS.Quote:

2.6.20 is in prepatch right now, which means it could be out at any time!
I am confused...
This OS has a linux kernel and can run an API developed by microsoft such as DX9/DX10 and run windows based apps, etc? And microsoft helped you?!? How is this possible?
It sounds amazing and I can't wait to install it.
Sorry if this is explained somewhere.
i don't get how m$ would help a potential competitor.
I must be missing something?!
And under what licence? source code?
it is a *nix kernel but not exactly linuxQuote:

Yep
It is possible because we did it and we cut a deal with Microsoft
Because of that we can't sell it and we request that all users posses one Microsoft Operating system.
It is under a BSD license
Source Code will remain closed source, until the time period stipulated by Microsoft.
you say "we request"...does that mean that we must have it...i want to be perfectly clear on what is going to happen if we dont have a serial for a microsoft operating system.Quote:

Thanks for clarifying.
Hope to try it soon.
thanks for clearing that up, just want to be sure :DQuote:

I totally must have dropped the ball and missed the screen shots link...
is there an estimated date as to when the beta will be available?
This question has been asked about 20 times lol and as of yet, no, unless nn has finally gotten an estimate.. Anyway, NN, I really appreciate all of your efforts, no real way to express my gratitude on saving me $200+ through text. Seeing as all I do on this rig is gaming and homework, I won't have to buy Vista, and my XP Home should be good to satisfy your requests :) .Quote:
