Don't take this the wrong way as I mean it tongue in cheek and it applies to everyone :), but they are called heatsinks for a reason. Always keep things that melt away from them .Quote:

What's the rest of your water setup like? Idle is fine, what about load? We all love pictures as well :slap: :DQuote:

I love the EK 8800 block, but i rather wait on the watercool 8800 block and see what one is better tested.
got my Ek8800 block from post office yesterday. i got to say that the
craftmanchip really blew me a way, what a fantastic peace of artwork.
temps are 40 idle -42 load, i'm running my card with stock clocks, dont worry overclocking its on the way.
So...any chance you make a SB-cooler that will fit on the EVGA, and is compatible with the 8800gtx block and that the 2nd PCI-e slot is still usable?Quote:

I need some help, with the EK block on my 8800gtx I get dots on the bios screen, the screen after that shows letters and in windows there's stripes on the desktop. Windows does not detect the 8800. As soon as I install the original cooler, all is fine. Card is not overclocked, after removing the EK block it shows all thermal paste made contact. The card is fully seated in the slot. Temps with the EK installed were about 40c so it does not seem te be a case of overheating. Ram overheating is stripes everywhere, not dots in the bios, random letters all over the screen in Dos, then stripes in Windows...what could cause this?

Is one of the screws securing the block shorting something on the PCB?
Nope, there allways a paper washer between mobo and screw.
I'm 95% sure the block isn't making contact with one or more of the rams.
I know cause i've been there.
After i took the block of my card i discovered that one memchip wasn't covered at all and the one next to it for about 25%.
A proper remount gained a 100MHz stable memclock with less voltage.
I had the same with my 7900GT but at that time i had no idea what went wrong, if only i knew... :(
Take the block of and check for good contact, you have to see the entire square imprint of the memchip on the block, not just a part of it.

Here is the first review in German, a comparision of the Innovatek Cool-Matic and the EK Water Blocks EK-FC8800GTX
Review on EffizienzGurus.de
I tried everything but no go, I've completely had it with this block. Problem is, card gets bend in all kinds of freaky ways to get good contact, been tweaking screw-tightening for a week now, it just won't work...I aged 10 years this week. :mad:Quote:

Is there a way to fill up the gap?
Take of the block and clean all chips and core thoroughly with alcohol.
Put a thin layer of AS ceramique on all chips and core.
Lay the block on it's back and gently put the card onto the block, carefully lining up the holes.
Start putting in the thinner 4 screws around the core, screw them in all the way but do not tighten yet.
Put in all other screws, now start to tighten carefully starting with the screws around the core, tighten crossed like 1-4-3-2 and then work your way round with the other screws.
Take the block of again and check contact, if possible make a pic and post here.
If there is no way you can get it right you can always swap your card+block with mine. :D
Tried all that, seriously, spend 90 euro on the block, I want it to work, trust me ;)Quote:

Edvard, the part where the gpu touches the waterblock is waaaaaay too low on my block. It need tightening so bad my pci slot bends and that’s why I’m losing contact!!
If I use loose screw pressure, gpu and waterblock don’t even touch. Because I have to put too much pressure on the gpu, the card gets bend so badly that it lifts the memory from the waterblock so that the memory modules don’t touch the waterblock.
Wait a minute, just saw that, your core is a lot lower?
Did you remove the heatspreader by chance?
So no imprint of the core at all on the block if you screw in all screws without bending the card i assume?

Does your block look like this with the raised centre?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...4&d=1165621886
If not, you might have a faulty block.
After 5 hours of trying, tweaking i threw away the EK block, never ever will I buy a block that needs screw fastening tweaks again. It's just plain stupid, ****ing like this with a 560 euro card...
Uh? You litterly threw it away?
Throw it my way man ;) or at least contact Eddy first.
Yep I did but you can have it if you want it...and I contacted Edvard and the only thing he suggested is that I swapped my card with someone that would not watercool theirs... :stick:Quote:
