did i miss something here?but my gts blanks after 1.428,ovp work around anyone?or is it cooling?honestly load no more than 59-60.

Yes. It will work just fine.
I just did the vMem pencil mod in that article and went from 1.852v to 1.961v
Looks like it is giving me a little over 100MHZ on the mem. Before, I was 100% stable at 999, and could bench at 1053. Now it looks like I am stable at 1107. I have yet to see what I can bench at.. :cool:
Gonna give the core vMod a shot here soon.. Do you guys think I may get some pretty decent results? My core is 24/7 stable at 684 under water, and I can bench at 702 as is. I was thinking that an extra .1V may get me into the low to mid 700's for benching.

Oh yea, I took some reading's before I started messing around.
Core: 1.264v idle 1.22-23v load
Mem: 1.852v idle 1.849v load
For the core mod in the article i linked. how can I calculate the vcore it will give me with a given resistance? reason i ask is the 500ohms VR i got is reading only 425ohms when testing with a multimeter. (Yes its turned all the way). i need to know if I stick this 425ohms on it what vcore I'll be at?

Memory temps after the mod are mutch higher ? (don't think if there is an easy way to know that but ... :D )
FYI, in my case, I upped the voltage to 2V and only got another 17MHZ of usable clocks.
Temps were checked by the tried and true "finger on the ramsink" method. The mem never felt hot, just warm. No discernable difference from before and after the volt mod.
I am going to stick with 1.96v on the mem, and teh 1107MHZ.. treating me good.:D
I am about to order the trimming pot for the core voltage soon. Pretty excited to see how it does..:banana:
Another successful vmod on 8800gts 320mb
stock vcore = 1.21v
stock vddr = 1.81v
Measures image below are all at load in 2001se. We did not encounter OVP at that voltage. But I'm sure we will on the next run, does anybody know a way around the OVP?

Dinos22, what we do here is use conductive paint as a 'solder'. So I mask out the area with insulation tape, in this case the one side of the resistor, tape a single core wire (if possible, not necessary) up to the resistor so that it just touches, think put a tiny blob of the conductive paint (must be the adhesive kind). And that takes the place of soldering. When you are done clean up with acetone. I can post an image if you like?

I use an earbud, dip into acetone & clean specific area, normally only a few pinheads big. Am I about to get a lesson in why not to use acetone on a PCB? :pQuote:

You need to mask the area out carefully as I'm sure you would know. You have to make sure there will be no contact to the adjacent resistors, then put a blob to connect the resistor & the wire. But probably even more important is that you need the adhesive type conductive paint (thats what they call it here in SA, anyways :rolleyes:), reason being is it's much thicker & wont run. The windscreen repair kit type paint will bleed under the insulation & cause problems. Not sure about the pen, have never tried one before... So test it first.

No, I'm not explaining myself well...
On the diagram below assume that the right side of the indicated resistor is where you want to make contact. Mask out the entire surrounding area with insulation tape (or equal) to avoid contact with surrounding components, tape your wire up to that point, then apply the conductive paint. The image does not show the masking.

Yes, not as quick as I would have hoped for. It took me around an hour to do vgpu, vddr & a read point for each. Not sure how long soldering takes, I don't have a soldering iron & have no soldering skills. So this method is great for me :) ...and as you asked, it is not permanent ;)

Between this red spot and ground I measure 469 ohms. I tried with 2 different multimeters, so it has to be accurate.
So if I wan't to vmod it I'll need a 5k or 10k trimmer ?

try a 500ohm 15-18 turn vr or a 1kvr set at 490-500ish to start.
just for heads up on my evga 88gts320sc 240ohms is about 1.40 at load
may be differant on different cards depending on stock core volts thuo.
