My 29B is sucking. Can't even do 2.6GHz on 1.5V stable. Still have yet to try the other chip but both are exactly the same in terms of the stepping numbers, so not very hopeful

I got a L630A i was bummed until...
core temp reports vid as 1.2375 !!!
bios and all windows proggies report stock vid at a droopy 1.18-1.2
I'm still in a 367x9 3306,mhz orthos 10 hour run at voltage above ! 1.2375 drooping to 1.18-1.2 !! tonight we add volts
Honestly i have never heard of a E6600 not doing less than 3ghz. Can you please post the full stepping L629Bxxx. Thanks!Quote:

Cloud m8, i know us E6600 owners are spoilt, but come on 3,6ghz is still a hella of an OC. I wish ya better luck with the new CPU :DQuote:

ok got in my latest 6600 from new egg and this time it was a.....
L628A237:nono:
guess I can't get a B chip from newegg...anybody else have this chip? any good?
What kind of temps are the rest of you guys with B chips seeing? Im usually good at mounting heatsinks and applying AS5 but I might have done it wrong this time.
At 3.6GHz and 1.4375 VCore BIOS (1.35 actual), Im seeing 58C idle, 77C orthos load. Definitely does not look right. For now Im just running it at 1.3v and 3.06 Ghz (340 FSB) until the weekend when I take it all apart again.
Oh, and the heatsink is a scythe infinity with its stock fan.
well the L628A237 is CRAP! took 1.65V to get to boot at 3.6...shipping back taking the hit on the restock...:slapass:
So sorry to hear your chip sux...I wish you much better next shipment. I too would take the re-stocking hit & swap it, good choice. Wow, 1.65Vcore huh? I am afraid to put 1.45V on mine. Today I was fooling around with MCH & ICH voltages a was able to run SP32M successfully at 430 FSB . I am feeling truly fortunate now...I really do wish you well Grinch, let us know how you make out. BTW, SP1M does 13.235 Sec at 430FSB.Quote:

I have a 30A E6600 and it needs 1.3875 to be orthos stable (in bios)
In windows (Vdrop) it reads 1.31 during load, 1.34 idle.
I can boot @ 4.0ghz with 1.4375 but I need 1.52V for stability.

I remember dak's is 3.6GHz@1.35v in bios. He didn't say orthos stable.
Saw this thread and thought I would share my results...
I ordered a new setup a few days ago and I got a 0626B 6600 shipped from CA. From what I have seen, this is one of the earliest B steppings out there.
Great results so far, 3825 Orthos stable 1.525v set in bios on a 680i board. I can run a Spi 1m at 4ghz on same volts, but its nowhere near Orthos stable.
Temps are quite high.. coretemp shows 65C under Orthos load on good watercooling. I'm hesitant to lap my IHS as these temps seem mostly in line with other results..
Anyone else have a 0626B?

I just bought a L630B from Microcenter. it was a hard choice between the L628B and all the L630A's that they had.
Does anyone have any info on the L630B??
Still wondering if I should trade for the 28B or try the 30B
my L630A does 3.6 at 1.35v bios and droop to under 1.3
24/7 stable...
havnt tested further yet too busy with work/home stuff...
Yes, it is very stable...Running Dual WCG, Dual F@H (GPU) and 8 Dime VM's 7x24...I also ran Orthos for 8 hrs without problem then decided it was wasting my crunch power & stopped. I can game all day long at 3.8Ghz 1.450VQuote:

Seems the lower default VID, the better. Rattle and DAK1640's 6600 both have 1.2375v default VID.
