I just picked up a Asrock 775Dual-VSTA rev 1.9 bios with the
PT880/Ultra chipset NB, just waiting for the E4300 to come out.
Cant wait to see how high it will go.
Crosses fingers.
I just got the E4300 today. Zipzoomfly. Same mobo too. An amazing upgrade from 2600+ Mobile Barton @ 2.4Ghz.Quote:

Currently, I'm at 2.1Ghz, 233x9(100% stable - 8 hour orthos). When I try 266x9(2.4Ghz), cpu can take long beating, until I bench the memory hard with S&M or Orthos Mem. Haven't tried any different settings yet, everything is default except async. I have to run 2T instead of 1T, or it craps out at default clocks.Quote:

Any suggestions? The CPU seems fine, but its something related to FSB/Mem...
Edit: Muaha. 2.520Ghz - 280x9 (S&M Short Stable). Had to set memory voltage to high, and turn on flexibility. Did cost me some bandwidth. Also got 1T back. Going to move further.
It does not surprise me if they are using Ultras in the 775dual-vsta towards this boards end of production.Quote:

FWIW I just bought a 775Dual-VSTA in the UK, not even put the thing in a case yet and I've popped the northbridge heatsink - there's a PT880 Ultra lurking under there. PCB Rev is G/A 1.02
Could it be the 4CoreDual-VSTA is equivalent to the 775Dual-VSTA versions with the PT880Ultra? I've spent a good few minutes looking over pics of both and other than the updated screen printing proclaming quad core these look absolutely identical.
Now am I'm going to get brave and forcefeed my 775Dual the 4CoreDual BIOS??
:D

Good to see the E4300 delivering it for you.:slobber:Quote:

2.6Ghz Stable Now

Edit: Orthos stable... But when I run a disk intensive task, Orthos will fail. Have tried increasing IDE strength, but that doesnt help. And V-Link Fast won't allow XP to load.
CPUz says PT880 pro rev 00
Does that mean mine sucks?Quote:

I can 3rd it. I checked before installing the 775dual-vsta that I just got last week. "Ultra" label on top of chip.

It's say’s PT880 Pro. But I think Pro and Ultra are one in the same, except that they tested and verified that ones w/Ultra label run 1066mhz just fine. I think?

Hi guys,
after following this and another thread, I decided to pay the premium for the 4CoreDual-VSTA (from Techfever in the UK), hoping that it would OC my 805D (and soon E4300) better than the 775Dual.
I just installed it and ran CpuZ 1.38 on it - and it's identifying the chipset as the PT880 PRO! (see details) CpuZ should be able to ID the ultra right? Are they rebadging the old 775 boards?? If yes I'll be mightily pissed off, having hunted for and then coughed up the premium and delivery charges when I could have bought the 775Dual cheap locally.
The board is labelled 4CoreDual-Vsta, Rev. G/A 1.0 (between the PCI slots), but instead of the:
Conroe
Kentsfield
Presler
FSB1066
Quadcore CPU
you can see in the official pichttp://www.asrock.com/mb/photo/4Core...A(Enlarge).jpg
Mine has
Conroe
Presler
FSB1066 and a sticker covering something up underneath, that says
QuadcoreCPU Kentsfield
?
Update: I've compared the offical 775Dual and 4CoreDual pictures, and the CPU list on my board is exactly like the 775Dual, except for the sticker that now says "QuadcoreCPU Kentsfield"!
Also I knew that Asrock recently disabled the CPU Quiet function on the latest 775Dual BIOS' as the boards were getting too hot (screams 'design fault' doesn't it), so I emailed them before buying the 4Core and they assured me that it worked on it... except it doesn't with the latest 1.30 BIOS! (it did with the 1.0 it came with)
My guess is that the Pro chipsets can overheat as they're not specced for 1066 FSB, and so the BIOS only disables QuietFan on those chipsets. Actually it doesn't disable it, the option is still there in the BIOS - it simply ignores it (nice).
Been in touch with the dealer, will post when I have more info - but let's say I'm not pleased...
I will try to flash my 775Dual-VSTA with the 4CoreDual-VSTA as soon as I find out how to remove the bios, so if anything goes wrong, I can go to my friends house (who has 775Dual-VSTA again :D ) and flash it back.
~I need help!!!!! MY mac address has gone!!!!!
Followed what was posted on page one but i cant see anything on mobo that says mac address.. so have tried random numbers off the motherboard but no luck.
Where is the mac number located ???#
