Finished!! E6600 at 3.33GHz on P5WDG2-WS Pro

I am running BIOS 0307 with this P5WDG2 WS Pro, a Scythe Ninja and Wk.27 E6600. ASUS PC Probe II is reporting rediculous temperatures, such as 96 degrees Celcius and above, which I know can't be true. I had read elsewhere that this board did not report accurate temperature readings. Anyone else experience reports of temps this high? Anything that can be done to get a true reading? Core Temp also reports way too high. Overall, however, the board "feels" like it is pumping out less heat from the memory, northbridge, etc. than the P5B Deluxe and DH did.

There is apparently not a more recent BIOS to try.

Intel Thermal Analysis Tool (googled it)

Don't know how Speedfan is doing but that used to be an option before C2D

My temperatures seem to be completely reasonable for the most part.


Also, like I promised. I tested out higher FSB :banana:

This board is so easy to work with after RangerXL taught me the basics. I was able to get to 425 FSB at a voltage of 1.5V with very little effort. THis motherboard really is nice! (Though I really have no frame of reference for comparision :p:)

Some questions:

1.) What does the ASUS PC Probe II show for your CPU temperature when you get to 380 FSB or higher?
2.) What is the temperature at 425 FSB? Also, what week is your E6600?
3.) Did you change the multiplier with software?
4.) Were there any key BIOS settings that had to be changed as you got to the higher FSB's?
5.) Also, what was the highest FSB that you had total stability at (Orthos, etc)?

what I meant was that it's crap for the price. and the MSI board is only limited becuase of bios problems (which every board is suffering right now) and can be alleviated through updates that MSI is providing. 300 dollars to get 475FSB, at least to me, isn't worth it. the MSI board can hit around 450, and it's 175 dollars on newegg right now. =). and the Intel BOXD975XBXLKR has been proven to OC well too, and it's around 230 USD. The only thing I don't like about this board it the fact that it OVERVOLTS in windows.
If I set the Vcore to 1.55 in Bios, Asus probe or AI Booster will read higher in windows, about 1.6V it shows.
Now, I don't know it that is accurate (Andre Yang said it wasn't) but it is scary. I mean, setting 1.6 in bios is scary enough, to later boot and see 1.65 through AI Booster.....

Right now, I'm running 380X9 = 3.4ghz @ 1.4875 Vcore (in windows it reads 1.54)

I can boot 400X9 @ 1.55V but it won't pass 3DMark 05 or 06.
Anything higher usually fails for me!

Using Bios 004 Beta or lates 307 didn't make a difference!

Anybody knows how to stop this board from going OFF when restarting?
If I choose to restart the system, it will always shut down for about 2 seconds and then start again!

I'm probably being stupid here but if you know it overvolts by a set amount in Windows can't you just set it lower in the BIOS? I'm sure that I read that someone else on here thought the P5WDG2 was better than their P5W-DH because "I can run the same speed at 0.75v less vCore" when in reality it was the same in Windows.....?

Asus Intel MB, when overclocked, powerdown\turn on for restarts...That's just how it is.

Done on normal WC, BIOS 0004 fixes the COLDBOOT bug when read delay in the chipset menu is set to 7. :YIPPIE:

Ram throttle: Auto
Hyperpath 3: Disabled
CMCH: Auto
