Could someone give me some no BS advice on a 965P-S3 + Geil Ultra 2GB combo? been outa it for quite some time...I really don't want to chuck out $200 for the P5B but if the memory issues are that bad with the DS3 / S3 then I may have to?

Ran some new benches on the ds3 with the new F7 bios ( new for me anyway :P ) and my geil pc6400 5-5-5-12.
The specs:

DS3 C1 fsb +.1v gmch +.1v
E6300 1.425v 500x7
2x512mb GEIL pc6400 5-5-5-12 1.8v @ pc8500 5-5-5-15 2.2v

How can I tell from the layout whether it's C1 or C2 without help of software? Help plz.

serial number will tell you, the build date of the serial number will show when its built and you can tell that anything built within the last.. oh i dont know.. month maybe ? or less than a month is going to probably be a C2.
but i would say within th elast couple weeks would be best.

For Gigabyte, lot number (production week) 0636 was the switchover to C2. You will see it on the side of the box.

Supposedly Bios F8 will fix the Micron D9MGH issues (ie, running above 450 FSB)

My max mhz for team xtreem pc 6400 are 910mhz on ds3...

i dont pass +450fsb at 5-5-5-15 +1vmch +1fsb dont boot,

bios is F7

Just for the hell of it, have you guys tried running single channel?

Because using the old F6 bios, I've been able to push my D9 to over 500Mhz.

But again, once in dual channel, 450-460ish is the limit.

I have 1 module Team Xtreem PC6400 single channel and can't pass 455fsb....., bios F7

F8 really fix the problem with d9??
