My Rev. 1 running at 4-4-4-12 2vc - 3 hour stable orthos (anytest)
e6300 2.8ghz, 400x7. All i can say is keep trying to overclock even if it fails the first time. I spent all day today and it wouldn't break the 350 but after 50 tries it did and ran stable.
Well i have rev 1 Platinum XTC right now (1gb x 2) that are still in the package and after reading all the post on this board about people having trouble i decided i wasn't going to take a chance and they are on ebay. I decided to get a pair of g.skill hz stuff. It was quite a bit more but with all the luck people are having with these sticks i think its worth it. Im supposed to get everything tomorrow :D
Has anyone been able to run with this ram over 400? My ram gets errors and my cpu freezes. I know i need to increase more voltage. Any advice on the memory?
running at 4-4-4-12 - 2v
Could i go to 2.1v with this timings?

I'm really baffled by all the troubles a few people are having with this OCZ Platinum Rev.1 and the resulting FUD going around. Mine boots right up in dual channel at 1.8V and is Prime, Orthos and Memtest stable at 1:1/400/4-4-4-12 with 2.0V, 1:1/425/4-5-4-15 with 2.1V and 4:5/470/5-5-5-15 with 2.1V. I wish I had a better cpu to see what this $130 ram can really do. It's not Micron, but at half the cost, I can live with it. :)

It's mostly on P5B-Deluxe boards, not DS3s.

Weird...yet my Super Pi times are higher with tighter timings. Wonder why the 3DMark tests suffer from tighter timings?
Well I finally gave up and bought some Corsair from Fry's yesterday. I can't OC much because I'm using the stock HSF, but I have yet to get a memtest or Orthos error. I wish I had never bought the OCZ, now I have to eat 15% to RMA it. Grr.Quote:

I like the P5B-deluxe, but thats not a good choice for this ram, isnt it?
Rev2 is supposed to work much better than Rev1s on the P5B-Deluxe.
Rev 2's the bomb. I'd still think about some Corsair too though.
My first set of Rev 1's (2x1gb) were bad, RMA'd and got Rev 1 again but now I'm running 24/7 at 430fsb 1:1 and at rated 4-5-4-15 speeds. I haven't even pushed it to find my max stable FSB. I might try to hit 450 today...
I got mine running at 412mhz from 426mhz now with 2x1gb Patriot pc6400 also. Timings stayed the as before. 4,5,4,15 2.2v.

Can I expect at least 450 from PC6400 gold (OCZ2G8002GK) ?
The only thing what you can expect is 400Mhz.. :p: Every stick is different and it is hard to say you get up to 450mhz.Quote:

SPD is 5-5-5-15 mate....leaving auto is setting those timings manually in bios without you knowing, they look to be setting a bunch of other timings also that boost the performance even with the slacker main latencies.Quote:

I purchased a kit of platXTC rev1 that came with a bad module (the other worked well at is rated specs). This week I have received a new RMA pair, and yesterday I tested quickly.
The modules booted ok at 1,9v ddr533 4-5-4 with ram multiplier=2 in my DS3 (F7 BIOS). I pushed the vram to 2.0v and multiplier to 2,5 (DDR667) and no boot. Upped vram to 2,2v and no go.... :( Then I raised multiplier to 3 and... VOILA!!!! Boot and enter windows correctly, so is a divider issue, probably in the chipset not in the ram so the ram works correctly at 667 but with 2 multiplier at FSB333.
When I was at ddr800 i lowered vdimm to 2,0v and tested a bit of overclock at stock timings.
Finally at ddr860 orthos crashed after 1h 8m at 2,0v so I think is stable up to 850 with these settings, so well for me. I'll test with 2,1v at 4-5-4 and 4-4-4 to see what's the better config. I "only" want 400x8 so I'm happy with this memory running OK at stocks :):)

this ocz memory is crap IMO
I have this 2x1gb kit 6400 ocz platinum xtc rev.1, 4-5-4-15 2.1V and....n/c:
not stable in memtest windows version (4 noobs version, i don't have any floppy disk at the moment) and I only allocated 800MB per kit, set 4-5-4-15 manual timings and 2.1V and it's unstable (1-2 errors per 1 stick for 15mins testing)
higher voltage for memory (2.15-2.3V) is even worse (1 error for about 2mins), I tried 2.0V and this value is I think the best value, I have only 1 error per 1 stick for about 20mins testing)
I tried 5-5-5-15, 5-6-6-18 : any difference....
Only one positive is that I don't have any problem to post system,lol. (mobo 975x - asus p5w64)

PS2. I bought this 2gb's kit from zipzoomfly.com in early August '06...now this memory is In Poland and RMA to USA is not good idea I think....

PS5. I tried in second channel (black slots), any difference...
I havetested better my pair.
At 2,1v I have tested 2 hours of Orthos (with 1,6gb allocated) at DDR2-890.
At DDR900 crashed after an hour, so 890 is maximum for 4-5-4-15 at 2,1v
Finally yesterday tested at 4-4-4-15 at ddr2-820 and they are stable, so i'm using the 400x8 config at 4-4-4-15. It seems the best for my rig ;)

Just a little notice if some people run into problems with those sticks...
Mine are stable at 1.9v on my P5W DH. 8x400 will error out at 2.2v, 2.1v, 2.05v, but it's totally stable at 1.9v.
Set everything to auto, fsb 266, ddr 800, spd, 1.9 volts and see how far it goes. Then push the voltage up one notch see if it helps... Works in my case.
Working in synch with FSB after that is a piece of case, the chipset doesn't have any problem (in my case). BIOS 1602 p5wdh, dram throttle off, hyperpath off
sometimes more voltage isn't better...
BigDisk, as you say more voltage is not always bettere. I believe we had some memory ICs that were working better at lower voltages. They tested fine after assembly at the higher test voltage, but when overclocking they worked better at 1.9v. You may have one of those kits.
It's a good thing to remember to try low and high volts. You never know what might work for your specific kit.

i can hit 484 on my rev 2 ddr2 800 with 2.35 voltage.
