My question is guys, to run SLI on a Bad Axe mobo do you NEED the SLI BRIDGE? And where do you buy these separately?
Froogle SLi bridge and look for a flexible universal one. :)
The flexible SLI bridge that NickS is talking about is the Super Micro AOC-SLIB. The reason that a flexible one is so great is because different motherboards might space their pci-e slots differently.
edit: To answer peteypete271's question about NEEDING the SLI bridge, the answer is "yes and no". So, "yes" if you're looking for the best performance and "no" since it's not mandatory.
could someone send me the drivers for dual 7900gtx cards on an asus 975 chipset board. Please Please Please

Did you try to run all on default settings? (CPU and memory)
If you can run SuperPi 32M on 400 x 9, it does not mean that system will be stable in 3D programs.
antec phantom 500w sli ready - It seems to me that It is not enough
i'll try this afternoon all default settings 266x9 fro cpu default voltas
and vstock clock and voltage for gfx cards
antec phantom 500w is provided with 2 pci express connectors so i think this is not a problem
therefore can you pm the 84.66 mod drv ?
zebu.gio@wanadoo.fr
thx you in advance, and best regards.

I understand that the system was much OCed and consumed energy much enough, but... you can have something similar...
can you send me the 84.66 ? ;)
do i have to have a bridge to be running sli ?
SLi can work without bridge, but it will be more slowly.Quote:

Interesting problem noobzed. I ran into a similar problem last night.
Im running a E6400 on a D975XBX with the 85.96 drivers. I do have an sli bridge and I had been running my cpu o/c to 2.66. I have a pair of BFG 7900GT's and while SLI enabled very easily - My system locked up on the 1st cpu test of 3dmark 05 and after that I could not get any other benchmark to run except briefly 3dmark 01 - but the performance was terrible - freeze frames during the initial 3d test and an eventual lock up.
I am running 2gb of XMS DDR2, a single raptor HDD and a single optical drive. All of this is powered by an Ultra 550w SLI ready psu.
I took the o/c off the cpu and return everything to default, but it didnt seem to improve anything.
Now the question I have is this...
I was running a single 7900GT o/c'd to 550/775. When I installed the 2nd card, windows prompted me for a driver install - and I think it installed the 85.96 drivers again as they show in the program manager for both cards and sli is still an option. However when I went into the nvidia desktop manager to look at my o/c options - they were gone. I reinstalled coolbits and noted that everything now shows stock speed - but it only gives options for one card. How can I be sure both cards are at stock speed?
Seems I read here that if you have cards at different speeds this type of lock-up can happen.
My plan is to remove the sli bridge and turn off sli. Then run my benchmarks. If I understand things correctly - this should then run off of just one of the cards. Is this correct?
If all is well then I intend to attemp an sli run with both cards in sli without the bridge and see what happens.
Anyone have any other thoughts? Anyone know how to get coolbits to o/c both cards?
Just curious.
Z
Interesting note...
Based on what you said big sam I went looking at the PSU... Mine is SLI rated, but an article I read indicates that a minimum of 35A needs to be provided on the +12v rails. Mine has 35, but only 35.
You think that with o/c CPU and GPU's more might be better? Could this be why my system is failing in 3d applications?
Z
ps... the same article indicated my system had enough wattate - 471 was the peak wattage required and I have 550 - but the amperage might be a factor as I only have min specs...
Yes, it can cause falling of system.Quote:

You try multimeter for the control voltages and try to remove the case from PSU and check up temperature of radiators. Overheating is possible.
Before I tear the whole thing apart I think I will mess with some of the other things that I have to do.
I agree on the over heating thing... in the XBX those pci slots are very close together.
Anyone with SLI running on the XBX want to swap some system specs? Im curious about the cooling part...
Thank you all!

back
i did some testing
i unplug one hdd one fan one ram one dvd
fresh install of xp, 84.66 driver
cannot complete a 3dmark01
i fall in black screen
my psu antec phantom 500 is rated for 17 + 18watts on 12v line
max load is 390w
all bios option are set to default, no oc, all default, same for gfx cards
i do not know how to solve my issue ...
overheating not an issue i think, all parts i touched are cool
gpu1 43 degrees
gpu2 47 degress
system and cpu are around 33 degrees
hdd is 35 degrees
