I will be using one of these on my E6600, it already does wonders on my 805D.

But it gets beat out by the TT Big Typhoon and we know that gets beat out by the Tuniq Tower 120 and TR Ultra-120 (and maybe TR SI-128).

Maybe not, I snatched at the chance to pick one of these up and the order went haywire on my first two attempts. I have three sitting in my account at Yoyo, 1 paid for and two pending.

I've been on to Yoyo requesting they remove the extra two. If you really want it keep your eyes peeled for next 24 hours:)

It may in some sites reviews, my own personal testing showed a 1-2c difference on idle compared to the Big Typhoon and 4c on load :)

Nice find, although i'd question the results as they put the noctua nh-u9 (92mm fan?) and freezer 4 (80mm fan?) ahead of a tuniq tower (120mm fan)...that to me seems fishy.

Also, i haven't done the translation but i assume they didn't run overclocked, didn't lap the cpu and didn't use anything other than stock fans (high cfm may make more difference with a compact fin structure like the tuniq)?

Fair bit of difference between that and most of the systems on here (not speaking personally...yet...).

New results for the Thermalright Ultra 120 vs XP 120 (SI-120)... you can see if cools just a tiny bit better .. but the XP (& SI) cool the power circuits better. I think a key point made in the review though (to account for the large PWMIC temp difference) .. is

"At the same time, the Ultra-120 would be an amazing setup for a case setup with front to back airflow if the Ultra-120 was orientated to blow its hot air off the cooler straight out the back."

I would think that all C2D motherboard would have the Ultra-120 mounted facing the back .. so it would cool the PWMICs alot better.

That chart with the Noctua looks off for the same pts mentioned. The Tuniq doesn't do so poorly as that indicates. There is no SI 120 on it, nor the Ninja and probably for obvious reasons. They missed the Zalman 9500 and for some reason all the German coolers seem to be doing exceedingly well. Anyway, take it with a grain of salt or maybe a couple grains.

PWMIC is manageable really. If you are using the P5WDH, just put the fan on that usually goes on for water cooling. Its a great thing to note, but orientation plays a big part in it if the cooler is a vertical one. So while I believe there is a higher temp with the Ultra 120 just due to how it is working, I think if you face the fan to the back or pull from the back the resulting airflow will be turbulent enough to cool the pwmic as well as the memory chips. And if you go vertical placement, stick a small fan blowing some air around the pwmic area. It's not like XS air coolers are fan allergic :)

Has anyone tried to mount two fans on a Tower 120? Does that work? I just ordered a Delta 120 mm fan and I was thinking about replacing the tower one.

I got my Evercool Silver Knight, its quite cool

I can't test it until i get my conroe but i will post the results.
I also lapped it but i don't think i did a good job. It's smooth and all but I duno about being even, we will see with the results.

I also dumped out whatever was in there (some orange stuff) and put just distilled water.

From measuring my P160, looks like it should just fit. From the top of the mobo to back of the top PS support bar is 16cm.

OK. I'm waiting till middle of September (due to cost and not being paid loads!) for my whole machine to be built. I have 3 things already:

CPU - Conroe E6600 (on order)
Case - Antec P180 (arrived)
Floppy - some 7 in 1 media thing.

Middle of August at very earliest for my PC to be built. - So I would like to know. From people's experiences here: There's 6 pages of writings...

The best are:

Tuniq Tower 120 (although as rare as rocking horse crap)
TR Ultra-120
Noctua NH-U12
TT Big Typhoon
Scythe Ninja (a pain to fit)

So any comparisons on the 5 above only?

Oh and can someone please answer Owen1978: (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=290842 <- that any good?) - It looks a bit cheap, but I'm here to listen to EVERYTHING!
