Hmpf, comp BSOD (mess, pfn_list_corrupt), reboot, same mess again and again and again....
Finally after about one hour of testing (with memtest, since I wasnt welcome into windows anymore boo :\) I found out that one stick is bad. :slapass: :(

something very strange is happening with me here!!
I just boot my computer with 3-3-2-5 at 245mhz MAX (using Venice 3200+ 1:1), using my opteron 146, i just boot with 3-3-3-5 in 245mhz but i can go to 265mhz using the same 3-3-3-5, run pi32mb, run prime95, but when i turn on some game, sometimes freeze the machine or just reboot.

SomeBody here has some tip to make my times better??
I bough my kit about 2 weeks ago in the uk mine will do 255 @ 2,3,2,5 2.7-8V they max out at 260 3,3,2,5 2.7-8V thats how recent my sticks are :slapass:
wow, 2,3,2,5 @ 255 is impressive :eek:Quote:

when i ordered mine, the 4000's were not in stock but when i went to pick up my 3200-set, suddenly they were ... I took the risk and hopefully, with some more tweaking, i will get them @ 255 1:1 !
write the tweak config what you are using in dfi bios..Quote:

I dunno, I don't suppose it would have anything to do with your 1.232v vcore....Quote:

well my zx ordered in mid december hit 260 3-3-2 32m stable on my 3800+X2... when i went for 265 the bios on my asrock corrupted....i boot up and its goes right into the bios's troubleshooting screen. so, this sucks basically, i need a new mobo, i hate not being able to set timings in bios anyways... so i guess its not all bad, i just cant afford a dfi right now :(
anyone know anything about hotflashing?
hey odd stuff...
cmos clear didnt fix my bios issue, so i just let it sit because i figured bios was toast... i wait 5 hours, shut off the psu real quick, power it back up, and bam, posting.. wierdest part was that cmos didnt clear... lol

Hello to all of you experts here... Its my first post so be gentle :P
I like see big skors so i'll just post my results with my 2GBZX kit till now.
All skors shown are Windows memtest, PI and prime stable.

So i guess i got a really paired match :P
If santa existed i'd really need him to get me a dimm to match my good one
What processor/socket are you running? I notice you are running single channel. Good results tho.Quote:

Yeah, I tried 264 with mine 3-3-2-5 and 3-3-3-6 with up to 2.8v, I can boot but will fail any tests immediately.
well i put mine in with my new rig and it was badly unstable, so itook one stick out and it was fine, and passed occt, then i rebooted and put the other stick in and it bsod' before i got into windows...so i gotta rma both of them since its a dual channel kit :(
Why did you guys choose the ZX over the HZ [ guaranteed 250 Mhz ]?
Everyone says the HZ , with UCCC, is the 2 gb kit o get so I was wondering what made you guys choose the ZX
I bought the ZX 2gig kit from the Egg last Monday, received them on Wed. Unstable at stock speed/timings in the rig in my sig. Tried tweaking the timings based on what I read here and other forums with no luck even at stock speed. I RMAed and sent them out on Friday for a refund, not taking a chance on getting another pair with the low quality batch of chips going out recently.
At the time I purchased the ZX, quality was looking good, and I liked the guarenteed tight 2-3-2-5 timings at 200MHZ. The day after I ordered is when G.S Tech hinted that the latest batch weren't quite up to par (bad sign), and other peoples' horror stories about the recent batch around the net started popping up.Quote:

Im running single channel cause i was testing them separately in that case...
I was trying to find out why they cant run anything 3D over 250 3-4-3-8... no matter volts, no matter timings
I got my kit yesterday........works fine at stock speed/timings using a divider, but anything over 200, even at 3-3-3-8 2.7/8v wont even boot windows. I also oredered mine before I read about all the bad kits people were getting but 6 months ago I paid $100 for 2x512mb Kingston Valueram 3-3-3-8............ so getting 2x1GB 2-3-2-5 for under $200 makes me happy :) It seems this last batch definetly isnt the greatest OCing ram though :nono:
I got mine a couple weeks ago and they have proven to be good up to 250 3-3-2-5 2.7v. I know a lot of people have been getting some lemons, but I guess the yield has gotten better since then. And to answer Kaiser_Sose, I bought them for the value and the overclocking potential. HZ timings are guaranteed 250 3-4-4-8 if I'm not mistaken. I can do better timings with my ZX at the same speed, even though they are not rated as such. You take your chances anytime you overclock. It's like asking why we buy $200 Opteron's when we can buy $800 FX's.
I bought my 2g kit from New Egg about a week ago and are working fine at 258mhz with 3-3-6-2 and 2.8v
working fine at 229mhz at 2,5-2-3-5.
Also the settings for memory helped me a lot from techs first post so I got better timings.
So thx.
Are they still bad?
I've just placed a replacment order from a shop who buys them in the usa any day now.
I had a HZ kit before but they wouldn't run at the rated speed on my asus A8N-E :slapass:
rma'ed them but shop had no problem with it
if the ZX won't OC it sucks :nono:
just want to reach 240-250mhz
well hey guys my zx is being odd... at 10x260 this stuff is 32m stable...
I wanted 9x300 however which gives me a 245mhz mem speed with the 166 divider.
the cpu is good up to 2750, and the mobo has been good and stable at 325 htt for me... but for the life of me i cannot pass 32m at these settings!
is it my asrock mobo? i know this thing isnt great with ram, as it cant run bh-5 at 1t period. but still, this is odd... i might just go for a dfi... lol
Well I was wrong about my kit, at first I couldnt get anything over stock speeds to boot windows.......now it seems I can do 234 2.5-3-2-5 and 255 3-3-3-8 Prime/3D stable. Do you think that they just needed to break in, or is it more likely I just overlooked something the first time around??? :)
I'm going to guess you overlooked something(no offense). That would be one great break in period to go from trouble at stock to those speeds. I think alot of people's overclock troubles come from overlooking one setting, I think we all have missed a setting from time to time.
I don't think ZX needs a break-in. Like aicjofs said above, it's very often that correct setting in BIOS is being overlooked, or AUTO does not always work right for particular setup and in effect, people give up too early. First settings to try are always MAL, RP and Drive Strengths.
Finally got round to testing my ZX set of RAM.
The system it is running consists of an Opteron 144 (CABNE 0540BPMW) running on a DFI RDX200-CFRD motherboard. Everything is air cooled. The processor by a Coolermaster Blue LED 120mm fan mounted on top of a Thermaltake Big Typhoon assembly. The case is a modifed Globalwin 802. It has three intake fans, 120mm and 2 80mm, and 3 outtake fans, all 80mm; although the Enermax Liberty has a 120mm fan in it as well.
Due to the position of the RAM slots on this motherboard the sticks are cooled by the processor fan.
I have been messing with the Opteron and motherboard and the chip craps out at between 2800 and 2900, although suicide screenshot runs are possible at 3000. Motherboard max is 365 HTT. This means I have access to both x9 (default) and x8 multipliers to get to 2800 and above.
I eventually found that the RAM was Memtest stable at 250 (passed the complete test suite overnight with no errors). At 255 the memory would happily pass test 5 all day, but got errors in test 7.
The timings for this stage of testing where the same as used by G.S.Technician in his first post.
Therefore you can add me to the DDR500 3-3-2-5 crowd :toast:
Here are two stable configurations I have with this RAM on a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI DR Expert.
260 at 3-3-2-5 2.8V
265 at 3-3-3-5 2.9V
i finally received mine. It was purchased from Newegg back in the end of November. My friend brought it over to HK since the egg doesn't ship internationally. I also ordered some TeamGroup yesterday in Hong Kong. We'll see how they go...
I just overclock my memory a bit. I can get 220 with latency 2.5-3-2-5
Kampfzerstorer,

Love doing that :)
Thanks bud.
thank you. I have been browsing the site, just never posted:).
Just got my ZX kit today.
My best now is 265 3-3-3-5 @ 2,7v pass SPi 32 mb (forgot to take any screenshot)
Here is one of my screenshot
http://www.angeling.net/gskill2.jpg
nice score lol...
so im having trouble getting 3D 100% stable.
this stuff will prime allllll night long 32m stable dual prime at 260 with these settings:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...7&d=1137024370
Thats 260x10 1:1 FYI. fastest ive gotten stable is 265 iirc, i dont need higher then 260 though so i didnt push it...
but gaming at 250 i have to go looser to this:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...9&d=1137030879
problem is, thats still not stable, after about 2 hours of BF2, it bites the dust.
What else should i change to get this baby going?
I just wanted to bump this seen that I had no reply. Well I tried the memory in my brother's computer with and ASUS A8V mobo and a 3500 Newcastle core, and it worked, the same with the memory in my friends computer also with a 3500 NC and a Gigabyte SLI mobo, and it worked, so obviously it's my CPU (which runs 100% with my 1Gb Mushkin Special) or it's my mobo, so what would it be. Most ppl tell me on other forums that it's my mobo, if so, why does it work on the same mobo on other systems. I mean, the memory does not even want to run stock, much less overclock. It resets the computer sometimes just when I restart..... What BIOS works the best, and what settings and I mean for stock operation now......
PLEASE HELP

Hi!
I got a MSI k8n neo2 and a pair of 2GBZX.
What's the best bios & settings for these RAM and motherboard?
Thank you!
Just got mine.
They do 240mhz 3,3,2,5 @ 2,6v on a 3200+ and Asus A8N-E
Won't run higher mhz, won't run cas 2,5 but I'm happy with it.
I'm sorry but being memtest stable doesn't even mean you can boot into windows. Memtest is USELESS for testing windows stability.Quote:

Gskill zx 3200 at same settings in a64tweaker with a 166 divider.
2.8v.
cpu at 3ghz at 1.6vcore.

My htt is 2 though in bios can that be a reason?
Maybe there is tweaks in windows I dont know about?
I have some extra stuff in the background since I use the comp for 24/7 but 3 min difference seems a little much to me.

I got a big problem with that kit, I just can't make it work in dual channel at stock speed...
I tried all I can think of, Vddr boost (max 2.7v) Vcore boost too, relaxed timings (3 3 3 8 2T), no way to memtest86+ them, it keeps freezing my rig on test #8 (no errors, just a freeze)
Under WinXP sp2, no more than 20 sec before a complete freeze...
I tested each stick alone without any errors (4 pass). My machine doesn't even boot if I try 333 mhz.
All is running at stock speed, I don't want to OC anything and it's working perfectly with a Corsair kit CMX3200C2 2X512Mo@400 mhz.
I tried to install the G.Skill in single channel (both sticks on B1 and B2 slots : no boot, A1 and A2 slots : no boot).
Only thing that have worked : my old sticks of Corsair(2X512) on slots B1&B2 with one G.Skill on A2 : got my 2 Go working but single channel at 2T only...
My rig specs :
A64 3500+ (o,o9) 11X200, 1,4 v (I tried up to 1.55v)
Asus A8N Sli Premium (rev 1.02) bios 1009 (tried 1008 too)
GForce 6800 GS Pci-e (at stock speed too)
HDDs : 2 Ide WD and Maxtor 80 and 160 Go
Antec Truepower 2.0 550w
Any suggestions please ? I'm desperate ...
PS : forget my bad english :p
Today I got a new processor opteron 175 0550 upmw 0107, I tried a divider and it worked :) Now i know what the problem is, there seems to miss 1 pin off the cpu (amd x2 4400) I m bringing my old processor to a goldsmith to repair the pin. I go test my ram futher now, think 3.3 ghz is possible ;)
11 × 300 with a 5/6 divider ram at 240 2.5.2.3.5 timings :)
is the problem fixed for this ram yet. as stock is in australia now and i am thinking of getting a few kits.
Which kit? I'm about to buy the 2GBZX kit, so tell if that's also the kit you have that you are having problem with. My mobo is the same as yours, so let me know...thx...Quote:

I have a Opteron 170 and a G.SKILL 2GBZX Kit.
It runs now at 2700Mhz with the 166 divider 225Mhz-2.5-3-2-5
But setting it to 180 which results into 250Mhz runs stable to but not in games (starting game= freeze after some sec.) If I disable bank interleave the problem goes away (til 245Mhz) but it is slower than @225Mhz. If I go > 245Mhz the problem returns.
Other question:
What are the best settings for drive strength and data drive strength? my opteron won't go 2.8Ghz (prime fails after 1-2 min.) I heard that setting different drive strength settings might help ... I tryed many but nothing seems to help.
Any suggestions? Mobo is DFI NF4 LP SLI-DR Expert.
Hmmm...that's not good news for me. Maybe I will go with the HZ kit instead, what do you think?Quote:

come here showing screens of how much butt they kick and within a short period of time they are producing crap sticks.
ive seen this in other industries before,, produce a butt kicking product right away to gain some high volume sales and then let quality trail off and forget about the reason the consumer is buying them.
the average joe dont buy this ram,, the overclocking joe does. so make the sticks the way the people buy them..
i see all kinds of people having issue with both the ZX and the HZ here, other furms and on newegg reviews.
whats the deal here. ? should i even waste the money on this stuff ?
